This was when they were at the absolute peak of their powers. Brilliant stuff.
Silverchair gave us all such great music. Regardless of their future, there is no denying the fact that these guys captured a moment in time and made amazing music!
Silverchair is my drug. I know it sounds cliche but its how it feels for me.
Something deep within craves it.
daniel is a very underrated guitarist
Um compositor subestimado.Guitarrista também.
It's been 22 years. I still love this song.
I miss this band so much!
Tony Filippone So do I, it didn’t have to be this way :’(
Bloody Paul Mac!
@@rickdb8480 im slowly building a new youtube music page. there will be silverchair songs on there that i will cover.in honor of the bands great times
After this song, Who can say again, that the power of the harp, of the dancing spirits cannot emancipates the youngs souls.
I've been listening this song for years. Never impressed me too much. A few days ago I listened it again and I could feel shivers going down my spine. Now I can say I love this song.
Yeah... I love Silverchair.
Had the perfect job called life you didn't like it you resigned
probably the last time it was ever played
anto hall and the first too
first and last : (
@@Israel9912na not the first, saw him play it in 97 in Sydney.
Kevin Smith yeah they also played in 99
This song is a masterpiece
I feel like I missed out on something very important by not being at this show..
Sad to think that huh...!? 😔
I'm surprised they sang this, I love this song and this live version is just amazing, Daniel is such a gifted singer
And to think they were playing this song live at 17 years old.
P&C is one of Silverchair's most unique songs love it
This was so good. I like the studio version of Petrol and Chlorine but this live version is awesome.
Such a good song. Wish that this vibe would have kept them together.
Silverchair is amazing!!! Had the opportunity to see them live in San Diego and it was by far the best experience of my life! I touched Daniel Johns hand, I haven't washed it since then ;)
I miss you Silverchair... Im so sad about the situation fo the band in this days... I really love this album (freak show) I remember when I listened for the first time, I was 15 years old. :(
Best performance of this song
outstading band, Daniel is a great musician, another gift from Australia ..
Probably the most talented individuals to ever be in one band at the same time. When they were 15-16 they were being compared to Pearl Jam and Nirvana and by the time they hit their mid twenties the only band I can really think I can compare them with is The Beatles after they came back from India.
Jeremy Hoffman check out the band Tool :)
Jeremy Hoffman and the band tea party
Thanks guys!!! Working on posting more :)
While a lot of bands whose members are in their 30's or 40's just play overdone crap and try to copy Nickelback & Creed, these guys create amazing and mesmerising songs like this in their teens.
Simply beautiful.
I think I like this version better than the original!! ❤️
Me too! Much more heavyness and psychodelia
Perfect...
Brilliant chord formation , and the tuning is awesome, a true vocal / lead guitarist is Danial ! one of a kind
this song is 13 years old , like someone said silverchair were way ahead of their time . Hope some day they come to portugal .
This is just simply incredible.
Written at 16, shits over most Nirvana songs written as an adult.
Que saudade :(
Surprised this was the first time they played this song live, was always one of my favorites. I saw them on the Freakshow tour but can't remember if they played this, guess not.
I remember you, when you were much younger, I was also, Good to hear from you again☺🎼
Uma das melhores canções deles.
I agree with this entirely.
very zeppelin, easily one of my favourite songs
lovely! beautiful!
My soul
awesome vid. thanks !
Brasil na cena! 2022 e ainda sonhando que em um belo dia Dan vai fazer as pazes com Ben, e o Chair voltar 🙌
Wooooah, never heard this version before. They fucking owned it, wow, holy crap. I fucking love this band.
And to add to the album discussion, everyone really needs to check out Diorama and Young Modern thoroughly. I have a few friends who dissed it and YM when it came out, just because it wasn't the Frogstomp/Freakshow Silverchair that they knew. But boy, are they missing out. To brilliant, classic albums, by an amazing band.
this music is simply amazing!!!!
AWE!
Now this is the Silverchair I knew and loved
Muy buena canción
awesome song love it
think i spotted about 3 dudes in that entire audience
Make music great again!
10 anos! 2013.
after 1998, mtv didnt really pay attention to these guys, let alone the United States. They only toured Europe and played gigs at their home country, Australia. Sucks when the music industry castes you aside. But still, Silverchair had fun and did what they did. I still listen to their albums and they are amazing and Great. Just wished that stayed together and played more bigger arenas and more places around the world.
♥♥♥
Actually, every album is awesome INCLUDING Young Modern. If it's not your thing, then fine, I can dig it. But I still say you should really check it out and just listen to it thoroughly with an open mind. These guys are on to something amazing.
you are crazy expensive diorama is a super album worked, for example, it is loaded with vocal arrangements, it is not as stark Frogstomp
this is awesome i don't think they killed it at all but i am happy u posted this cuz i wanted to see this tune done live
@bethany2nirvana I found it and bought it from a site, but it was shipped from the US. So it took some nice time to arrive aaaand, was kinda expensive. But not so much (at least for me) as if i'd have bought it from an foreigner site.
I know, who needs another grundge album? give us more psychedellic prog rock, I have very low expectations for the next SC album.
I'd love to see Too Much of Not Enough live!! no one has that video??
this song is amazing!
Too much of not enough is one. Of my favorite silverchair songs... I can't find a live version ANYWHERE... Maybe it was never played live... Too bad
gooD Song From FReak SHow CD...OUÉÉÉ
They played it in Brisbane on Aug 15, 1999.
Random recommendation from that year Feeder Drscend and Snow Patrol Get Balsalmic Vinegar Quick You Fool (they both used to play similar stuff)
@@andym28 Thanks! I haven't thought about Feeder in quite awhile (I have Polythene on CD though). Not really familiar w/ SP, but I'll check it out.
If they make another album, they should erase the untitled 8th album and do something like Diorama. That album kicked the ass of every SC album, even Young Modern.
Sadly, they are done. No more Silverchair. If they come back, then i'm sorry. But that's not going to happen.
lol, it's not definitive. They'll be back.
this isn't the first time they did this song, they actually did it at a show in brisbane in august 1999 and then a show somewhere in london in 2003
@InnuendoXP
Listen to it live, its really good :)
The keyboard guy.
What pedal is he using for the “oboe” part?
@IronRevolution what site did you buy it from? i want it from the us if possible bc i need it to be a region 0 or 1 so it will play on my dvd player. all i have found are aussie dvds that wont play here :(( any suggesions, let me know. :)
I love hearing a deep cut live
TOO MUCH OF NOT ENOUGH
BLACK TANGLED HEART
AND THISE THIEVING BIRDS are all great tracks that were rarely played live if at all
These thieving birds is in the across the great divide DVD

That's how you listen to an album though. When I first listened to Frogstomp and Freak Show I listened to the singles forever. But at one point you have to put on the album and NOT TOUCH IT. Just let it play. You'll hear riffs you enjoy, a catchy chorus, words that resonate, anything. I need to do that with Diorama. I haven't fully accepted anything after Neon Ballroom...Although, I did buy YM...
Podes crer! xD
Does anyone know where i can get this on DVD?? ive looked everywhere at different sites and cant find it...i really really want this! I live in US also..dont know if that matters if it will play or not.
didnt they played this in adelaide before this date as a live rehersal before a live recording for a live album/DVD release?
@thechaircover
Have done, still can't get into it.
Mind Reader however ;)
No I don’t know just what you mean
I thought you hit it right on the head...Silverchair could've been so, SO much more than this teenie bop, pop star shit that is young modern. That cd brought the "is Daniel Johns gay?" question up again.

I just prefer harder music to light airy sounding stuff. I can listen to it, its really just a preference
Is this in Newcastle in the UK?
Newcastle in Australia. The name was inspired by Newcastle in the UK though as its a big coal port.
Who played the sitar live?
Dan uses a sitar pedal
so, whos playing the sitar??
ADMIRAL awesome ravi shangkar lol
Dan is using a sitar pedal
@musikizevrything
I like about 2/3rds of the songs in young modern.. Reflections of a Sound I still cannot get into though.. it's just.. annoying.. I prefer most of the songs how they perform them live though, Young Modern seemed overproduced and just lacked a feeling of raw energy from their other albums. That's my main complaint, which is legitimate right?
Silverchair>>>>>>>>>Nirvana
please stop comparing
Never
@astronot29 they did its just they sucked really bad its called young modern im glad they broke before they make another horrible album and i would totally lose respect on what they did
