McClure is a child. Can he ever have proper conversation? Very annoying to watch
A total flog.
Real private school boy knob about him
Couldn't disagree with yall more. Caroline is wrong and Sam is right. This is a business. If Tassie wants a team, time for state govt to cough up and make it happen. Simple.
Agreed, poor conversationalist.
Sam loves over the top statements.
Well done in Ross saying in a 4 year timeline what difference does one month make.
McClure âWe are all for a team in Tasmania⊠but it still has to present a financially viable business case in order for us to move forwardâ
Pretty sure the AFLW doesnât present a financially viable business case but like Caro says the AFL is not for profit. Promoting the game sometimes takes precedent over making money
AFLW is a long term investment same as GC and GWS. in regards to the last 2 junior participation in those states has jumped considerably in last 10 years. needs at least 20 years to show its true benefits. same with AFLW. a team in tasmania wont have to same effect. they need to show they will be viable earlier then 20 years.
AFLW will still be sucking money out of the AFL system 20 years from now. Tasmania is more of a footy state then QLD or NSW will ever be, they probably shouldâve had a team before the disaster that is GC was formed
Too right. And the Suns and GWS certainly donât present as a financial business case.
@@ryankincade Yes they do.
@@troyjackson9743 agreed to an extent. Calls for aflw pay to be equal are not only insane but would literally destroy the game. Ppl forget this is a business. Ppl are paid on merit of what they bring to the business. If tassie wants a team, their govt needs an AFL rdy stadium. Simple
This McClure guy clearly hasn't managed a business deal or worked closely with government once in his life. Has no clue.
He's the biggest flog on this panel.
A complete flog.
Mclure is embarrassing. Becomes way too positional and sensitive over any opinion that isn't his own.
So emotional and over the top here. Ross and Matthew calmly express their views, then you've got the kid on the end self righteously screeching
Sam's horrible, but I agree, this whole Tassie thing is a mess.
Youâre embracing Aids đ€Š
McClure is a child.. Too emotional
Taz is a footy state,
Give them a team, let them use the oval that Hawks and north use,
And the stadium will be created in time and probably by 2026,
State government+ members and sponsors to get it all done,
When Brisbane came in they didn't have an AFL stadium they barely had a club
Weird how they are saying it has to be financially beneficial but then we have aflwâŠ
Blahaha.... how true.... AFLW is a the woke agenda at it best.
It's a different story when it involves left wing causes and allows for virtue signalling.
@@user-oi9to7ux7k Spot on. Tasmania has the gall to keep in a Liberal government too? That doesnât sit well with snooty urban Victorians.
@@milkwalkerjones633 rich Urban Victorians overwhelmingly vote for the Liberal Party
AFLW has always been a long term investment to increase female participation. Same with GC and GWS, junior participation in those states has jumped significantly in last 10 years. Needs at least 20 years to show the true effect, ie: increasing the talent pool. A team in tasmania which is a footy heartland wont have the same effect so needs to show it will be viable earlier.
Hard to take this show seriously with McClure on the panel.
Should have been a team in Tasmania way before the gold coast or greater western
should have been neither.....
definitely, it will be great watching a tassie team
Kick Sam off this show. He makes it look like amateur hour.
Give them a team and it will evolve.. tassie has been very disrespected in all this..
Exactly right. AFL, carpetbaggers, North Melbourne and Hawthorn have been having having a laugh for years at our expense.
So many Tasmanians crying in this comments. Go cry to your state govt, they are the sole cause of this. Build a stadium, get a team. Just stop
McClure can be annoying, but he is right here. This is such an amateur mess.
OMG.... how can the AFL. expand into NSW and QLD and not Tasmania.....
Like honestly GWS and Gold Coast are money pits in NRL territory.... AFL owe Tassie and if they only get 30000 people a game who cares.... it's about TV money anyway....
Exactly right. They've wasted millions on teams in places where nobody cares about football just for TV rights deals. Millions on diversity and inclusion and social posturing. They've taken traditional football states for granted. AFL management has copies NHL playbook. Put ice hockey teams into Florida, California, Nevada, Arizona, etc. Deny expansion into smaller Canadian markets. All for TV rights deals and money for owners and millionaire players. Sickening.
Because their state govt refuses to build a stadium. No team then. Stop crying and get your local member to build a stadium
AFL, North Melbourne and Hawthorn have been stripping money and players out of Tasmania for decades. Throwing us a crumbs here and there. Especially North Melbourne -- really taking the Mickey with weak home games they can't sell in Melbourne. If there vote is "no" I hope the premier doesn't put another cent into football in Tasmania. Put the money into soccer, cricket and basketball. No more exploitation of the Tasmanian people.
What rubbish! Hawthorn and Tasmania entered into a sponsorship that brought in 10s of thousands a year for nearly 20 years into that state eating at pubs and restaurants, accommodation etc. Yes is has dropped off recently but I have witnessed how many flew down their to watch games in the past. It was a mutual agreement that helped develop York park stadium....so donât give me your rip off garbage!
Here here Matthew. I couldn't agree more!
As an Adelaide native and crows supporter and a lover of Tasmania as a state (also a longing to live there) would be my second side and I would buy a membership...Tasmania is a football state, to say that a team wouldn't succeed there is ridiculous. The fact the Gold Coast in a non Afl state, and has been bleeding money for years is not the point of contention more than the Tasmanian bid is beyond me. Every state in Australia, especially the football States should be represented.
As a Tasmanian, thanks for the support and you would be very welcome to live down here we have so many wonderful places to live, the weather is quite different from Adelaide but I'm sure you'll adapt very well. Our lifestyle is quite a bit different as well but I think you'll love it here! I hope you get to make the move soon!
Tasmania should of had a team but they add two places who are nrl dominant. Dumb decision by the AFL. Everyone in Queensland who follow AFL are lions fans and majority of people in Sydney are swans fans. Gold Coast and gws have been massive failures.
because they tried growing the game there. i understand doing a 2nd sydney team being how big sydney is. but gold coast decision was interesting
AFL were trying to break Into new markets, Tasmaia isn't really a new market so they don't really care about it.
Ur actually wrong here⊠Tassie was already an AFL dominant state that were about to get constant games in Tassie (Hawthorn x Tasmania partnership) at the point of creation of GC and GWS, AFL was getting smashed by NRL in NSW/QLD and since GWS and GC are actually evening the playing field and exposing NRL for the lacklustre sport that it can be at times. It was actually a really good move
All for a team in Tasmania, but am against a 19th team. Stretches the talent pool even thinner. There are a lot of players in the AFL who are good athletes but ordinary footballers.
I think there is to many Victorian teams. Two are gonna have to go. Or something has to happen to Gold Coast and gws
@@mitchellrizza284 They aren't going to fold 2 victorian teams to accommodate Tasmania.
Gold Coast will be fine. They might end up giving up on GWS, but that is 10+ years away.
Agreed. The skill level these days is way down on what it used to be.
An easy example of this is set shots. These days it's not even a shock when a forward misses from 25 metres out, directly in front.
Mixing another 40 players into the system will only bring the skill level down more.
Having said that, I'd like to see a Tassie side too.
Relocating a Victorian side makes sense, but that side apparently won't get much support from the locals.
So who knows what to do?
We still need to get to 20 teams.. NT
And I'm for a team in the NT and taz it's AFL Australia football league,
Not selected state teams,
But I do have an idea on how to keep it on an 18 teams league drop two Vic teams, give the Vic's 6 team not 8,
Sam McLure needs a season in the 2's
Sam MaClure is a nobody with too much to say. Who the hell is he!?!?! When he speaks I switch off. Out of his depth, no credibility...
The biggest flog on that panel, that's for sure.
Well done Caro, not sure why we need a new stadium!
Because the AFL said if you want a team you need one. Getting 10,000 people to a game isn't what they want. You can have an AFLW team if that's your capacity
@@mattshaw7671 good call matt
@@mattshaw7671 Launceston and Bellerive can both hold 19,000 currently. They used Launceston for finals last year. They're both good enough for a team to enter and then they can work on getting upgrades/a new ground
Sam doesnât understand Tasmanian geography. Over half the Tassie population live in the North and North West of the state. Itâs obviously not politically palatable for Australiaâs smallest state to build a Rolls Royce roofed stadium in Hobart on the eve of a major recession and inflation. Itâs also not in the best interest of the team to not play some games in the North. If these stadiums were good enough for the Hawks and Roos to extort money out of our state government, then theyâre good enough for a Tassie team.
Yes Sam, you were being condescending. Caro, youâre spot on.
Stating facts is not condescending. Caroline talked down to Sam, if anyone was being condescending it was her. For a journalist she doesn't seem to understand definitions of words well
@@LaShYz1 Let me guess; you're an incel.
McClure has really gone off the reservation since the Sportsbet ad and his subsequent resignation from The Age.
McClure with crazy talk. Tasmania is currently propping up two Melbourne clubs. Easily a profitable place to have a team.
Caro says itâs not a mess then she describes the situation which is a mess. I see a lot of this from caro, disagreeing with other panel members with little or no content to back it up.
You do understand that this is a debate or at least a discussion. If everyone beforehand agrees to agree, it's meaningless. (Anyway, you made up the bit about Caro disagreeing with the other members.)
How the AFL is concerned about Tasmania having a stadium when they already have Bellerive oval they could put some $ into rebuilding part of the stadium, look at GWS and Goaldcoast, they both have minimal crowd attendance, tell me Taswegians wouldnât flock to Hobart, give em their own team Jesus Christ
While Tasmania fights over Hobart vs Launceston as the venue nothing will happen & a team won't work. Hobart is the capital city so the stadium should be built there & all games played there. The stadium is just one part of a bigger issue which is the total lack of infrastructure parking , road access ect. They've been trying to decide on building a cable car up the mountain for about 6 years & are still no closer to a verdict so I would'nt hold your breath on a dicision any time soon . PS I'm a Tasmanian
Also a southerner it seems
@@thepontiff6031 Yes but where did AFL teams first start in other states. Perth, Brisbane, Sydney & Adelaide once established moved to other areas of the state. When Tasmania gets a second team Launceston would be the logical choice.
Theyâre not fighting over north vs south. Itâs always been acknowledged games should be played in both because over half the stateâs population live in the north and north west.
Tas should have a team. End of story. Get it done.
If they spent the money on the TCA ground at queen's domain decades ago instead of Bellerive oval this problem wouldn't exist
Sam always looking for an argument. He must really hate himself, oh wait he's a narcassist, that's even worse
Once again Sam & Carro bring down the integrity of the room with their gutter feeding sensationalism. Low brow BS seeking attention. LOOK AT ME!!! I can't play the game but im still relevant on to it.
Inevitably there will be a Northern Territory and a Tasmanian team
Pump the money into Tasmania they deserve it .
Not sold on gold coast or GWS especially if we keep giving them money also .
And in the long run 19 teams in Melbourne needs to be 8.
However I can't see that happening and instead by 2035 we will have Tasmania and NT 20 team and possibly 2 divisions
Iâm waiting for Caro to get a coaching job at AFL womens team , she would take the girls to a whole new level..
Maybe in the kitchen. No where else
Hobart will never allow an AFL Team playing in the North, nor the North West. It's all about Hobart............study History eg..Tassie Devils !
AFLW is a complete unwatchable joke of a money pit. So making money isn't a priority.
The Optus Oval saga was the fact the AFL did not want kick anything in yet wanted to control it and McGowan said get stuffed!
Mclure get off the show ur ruining it for others
the winds seem to be blowing towards no team in Tassie just yet it sadly seems
AFL not for profit organisation is the actually joke here
these guys need to be hearing each other in-ear. Too much talking over the top of each other. Hard to watch sometimes.
0:13 ayo what
Get rid of Sam. Iâm so sick of hearing him talk
Ranga is a sook
Who is Sam McClure?
Why donât they start with a Tassie team in VFL, build them up and then start an afl team
Well if they do re-introduce a Tasmanian team in the VFL, it must be with no alignment with an existing AFL team and a promise that a Tasmanian AFL is created in the near future. Otherwise it will be a team that no-one will bother to watch.
Been tried before. Waste of time.
God, I have to stick up for Caro over tosser Sam. Loose them both would be best.
I donât know who I canât stand more, Caro or Sam!
Everybody here is against sam, why? Because hes right? Have a look at every episode of footy classified and the footy show this season and tell me that the negotiations are being handled appropriately.
Not sure how everybody a few weeks ago was saying that it's a hot mess just like sam, but now its a whole different story for no reason at all. Sam's 100% correct, I find most of the things he says are true. Maybe it's because hes a lot younger than all of you and hes not been given a chance.
When he talks about finances, its not finances in the sense that they must make profits from the get go. He's more saying that the tassie team/stadium has to be something with structure so that it wont just fall through when they eventually hit a bump in the road and ineviably have to rely on the afl to continuously bail them out.
This whole Tasmanian bid is like amateur hour, they need all their ducks đŠ lined up before being presented to the rest of the competition for consideration and actually an embarrassment!!!!
Sam's got a plan, let journos run the AFL he will have done in a week.
That was cringe
McClure is right tho tbh
Sam go awayâŠ
I donât think Iâve heard Caro talk about footy once
Taswegians should start a go fund me page to build a stadiumâŠ..oh bugger it Iâll pay for it, Iâm a multi billionaire $$$$$
yawn, no one wants a team in tassie. is the team going to be permanent in tassie. how many young afl footballers do you think want to move from the mainland that has cities and people , to tassie. one good year out of three doesnt warrant spending countless millions on a venture that will only fail. gil is doing everything he can to stall this. caro must have a $$ reason for constantly pushing for this to happen.
Move St Kilda back to the VFL, Merge Footscray & North Melbourne. Merge Gold Coast & Brisbane. Start up a new team in Tasmania.
Problem solved. You're welcome.
đ€Łđđ€Ł
Go back to bed mate.
have another can of Woodstock pal đ€Šââ
a Tasmanian team isn't viable, no 18 year old Victorian draftee will want to go there, if Gold Coast can't retain players, what hope does that tiny island have of player retention
Both are clowns
