    I just love that I can make a huge batch of the base brown sauce, add a couple ingredients to turn it into general tso sauce then add orange juice to the general tso sauce to make orange sauce. I usually make a giant batch of the brown sauce then freeze in batches in mason jars.
    When I feel like general Tso I pull out the brown sauce and just add the 3 ingredients (sugar, vinegar and chili garlic sauce) to the brown sauce . When I feel like orange chicken just the 3 ingredients plus orange juice to the brown sauce or just add orange juice to my batch of general tso sauce. Easy peasy.
    I bet that’s what the do in Chinese restaurants. Just have a giant batch of the brown base sauce on hand then add a few ingredients here or there to change the recipe. Fast food! 😀

    In the EU we dont have this dish, I first learned about it from The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon likes Tangerine Chicken and dont like Orange Chicken and when he orders Tangerine Chicken he complains that they pass off Orange Chicken as Tangerine Chicken :D
    I made it twice and I learned that fresh juice tastes better than from a carton. I will definitely try your recipe!

    • @TheArtOfCooking
      @TheArtOfCooking  Před 10 lety

      What kind of dishes do they serve in EU Chinese restaurants? I'm curious because I have never been to EU, always wanted to go there myself and travel.
      Yes, definitely use fresh juice instead of carton. This dish doesn't really exist in China to be honest, it's very Americanized to say the least.

    • @murray821
      @murray821 Před 10 lety

      *****
      In the EU or the Netherlands to be precise, we have the basic dishes of Babi Pagang and Fu Youg Hai etc, but the more special dishes I am interested in are Szechuan Yuk or Kai (dark spicy) Malaysian Chicken (about the same) There are sort of small round root like bolls in there that are soft but feel crunchy at the same time, dont know what they are (same texture in the mouth as fresh apple)
      I dont like the Dutch altered dishes much they feel so weak, I'm more a fan of original dishes with more special flavors :) Like Gon Bao, black bean sauce etc.
