- On Monday, March 4, hundreds turned out to pay respect to Leo, the Marion County Sheriff's Office K-9, killed in the line of duty. Leo's handler, Cpl. Justin Tortora, said Leo's sacrifice was the bravest thing he had ever seen in his life.

And unlike what some misinformed people seem to think, the K9’s love every single second of work. They are brave, loyal, and amazing! They should be protected by government to have medical care during their service and through their retirement years

It made me cry because I lost my dog and he was a k-9. Rest in peace k-9 Leo.
I am so sorry for this pain.... He is safe now.... He has angels to watch over him...
The dogs also should be protected with Kevlar. They are to precious to loose them. RIP great dog Leo. 😢❤
I’m always heartbroken 💔 when a K9 passes……. But with K9 Leo, it was especially difficult to digest, because there were updates of his conditions….that he was stable but critical……then out of the blue his passing…… I remember breaking down for him and his handler 🥲🥲🥲
As much as I’d like to have a loyal dog with me that I’ll love and care for as long as it lives, there are too many reminders of how I’d never be able to recover its loss.
K9 Leo, you were a Brave Boy. You’re now with God and can now run free and have as many toys and treats as your pure heart desires. We will miss you on this earth, but I’m sure you’ll see us one day.
