Traveling to KOH TAO, THAILAND (Train & Boat) 2022

- In this video I take the train to Chumpon and then a boat to the island of Koh tao in Thailand. I had previously come form Bangkok and Hua Hin on a train. You'll see what it's like to travel Thailand in the year 2022 using public transportation and boat.
Useful information if you want to travel to Thailand after July 1st 2022.
Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has now removed the restriction of registering for the Thailand Pass program. Also, the mandatory US$10,000 health insurance is no longer required for foreign visitors, effectively from July 1, 2022
The insurance is no longer mandatory but it is highly recommended. Foreigners and Thai nationals are now only required to show proof of either a certificate of vaccination or a negative RT-PCR or professional ATK test result within 72 hours of travel. These can be presented in either print or digital format.
CCSA has also made it clear that there will be random checks on arrivals at Thailand’s international airports or land border checkpoints. If travellers are not fully vaccinated and are unable to show proof of a pre-arrival negative test, they will be required to undergo a professional ATK (Antigen Test Kit) at the point of entry.

It was a good video. Moving around can be challenging, and sometimes it can be frustrating. I love traveling by train, It's the best way to see a country. I remember taking the bus from northern Sweden to Stockholm an then the plane from Stockholm to Bangkok and then an overnight bus from Bangkok to Surat Thani. Then a boat that took 5-6 hours out to Samui. Quite wiped out on arrival. Everything was the cheapest option. Aeroflot with empty chairs falling forward during landing at Don Mueang. Those were the days. And Chaweng beach was sooooo amazing.

"just traveling on train" you say? I enjoyed. Did you say to that on the Island they gringo priced you for the taxi? That's one thing that made me resent Playa del Carmen and I'm Mexican. Extortion at every taxi. Food was not great until you got away from the tourist zone. I like how you go into the "unknown". Very bold and brave of you.

I really enjoyed this video because of the way you travel with no worries and it's almost always chaotic lol Don't know where you are going to stay The train is in a few minutes but you're miles away and no taxis The boat is leaving and you don't know if you're going to make it but you're always calm No boat till the next day ? No problem go find a hotel When we travel my wife is in a panic to be on time We have a small airport in our city and she has had us there before the people have arrived to check us in lol She was watching you saying Why didn't you leave earlier? OMG

Did no one ever tell you about Grab? It’s a ride-hailing app similar to Uber, and it works in Hua Hin (as well as Bangkok of course). As for Chumphon, the ferry company Lomphraya has a free bus from Chumphon railway station. (That must have been walking distance from your hotel.) And yes, taxis are ridiculously expensive on Koh Tao, but surely your hotel would have done a free pickup from the pier?

What you can see in the restaurants is called shrinkflation. Price stays the same but smaller portions due to the high inflation rates. Have fun on Koh Tao and don’t google what happened there to some tourists 😵

The island is well known for scuba diving and snorkeling, as well as hiking, rock climbing, and bouldering.

I grew up in Canada. The first bidet I ever saw was at my brother’s house in Kristianstad, Sweden. I thought it was a tiny bathtub for the children. I laugh every time you call them “a$$ showers”

Great video as always William. If you go to Sumatra, the food is much more afforable than thailand. Bukit lawang + Pulau weh were my fav spots 💜 I enjoyed taking a ferry from Penang Malaysia to sumatra. Not sure if ferries still run…
