Respect to mig-25. Its amazing to see that a jet from 1964 is still holds the record until now
In fact, this is not the case and its maximum is the same as that of the Mig 31. 3.2M is already the level of the non-combat SR-71.

yes. but it was pretty much useless
@@CommonSenz How is it useless? Its presence forced the Pentagon to stop flying over the territory of the USSR. And today it is a platform for launching hypersonic missiles. It will take off in Siberia, launch a Zircon missile, and destroy a US carrier group in the Black Sea if need be.

That SU-47 looked mighty good! Too bad it never was adopted. Even to this date it looks amazing, so does YF-23. Great video. 👍
Су 47 использовался как летающая лабаратория, на его основе был заложен су 57.....
Su-47 have problems in material rigidity, especially in that front-swept wings. Even it can increase agility, it can be very fragile because the front-swept wings have shape against the airflow. The stress it endures is too strong. Perhaps we'll have front-swept wings fighters in the future if we have already invent a material that's light, flexible, but strong enough

Nah. Sure, it has that forward swept wing thing going on but aesthetically, it's just not for me.
Its the forward swept wing that kills it... it gives superior performance at low speed but the faster you go, the more bite thry have and once they start flexing it causes an oscilation in the wing that is self aggrivating, not self stabilising...
Thanks for including the Avro Arrow. It's TAS speed will never be known because of the untimely cancellation. In all estimates, the Arrow certainly would have exceeded Mach 2. Thank you for the video.

The Foxbat's operational speed was 2.8. It was recorded doing 3.2 once but it damaged the aircraft beyond repair.
They had variation of the mig that was basically strapped of all weight and could reach 3.2 mach easily but pilots that flew in these described it like "rocket with seat " because a lot of stuff were removed to make it lighter, and they mainly created this variation to intercept the sr-71

F15ex looks awesome too
It is believed that Crawford Gordon of AV RO Canada had altered the results of the inial testing that was done before the Iroquois engine could be finished. His strategy was to under rate the engine they had at the time to boost sales on the Iroquois by literally blowing away its competition. It's believed that 206 was capable of Mach 3 without the more powerful Iroquois

2:24 Mach 2 is damn fast for 1958
How about MiG-21 in 1955?
"It's not the plane.. It's the pilot"
Technically you should consider also the interceptor Lockheed YF-12 Blackbird.
The SR-71 Blackbird was not an interceptor, it was a US Spyplane that replaced the U2. The MiG-25 was the interceptor designed by the USSR to intercept the blackbird
@@viking5736 also Ennio Savi said YF-12 which was the precursor prototype stage of the SR-71 Blackbird
If you've got the Su-47 listed, it's only fair that you include the YF-12, top speed of Mach 3.35. They actually launched missiles from it, unlike the Berkut which was a one-off technology demonstrator rather than a prototype combat aircraft.
YF-12 is a reconnaissance aircraft, NOT a fighter aircraft.
@@pictograph "The modified A-12, first designated the AF-12 and then the YF-12A, was designed and built under a project codenamed KEDLOCK. The aircraft’s mission was to intercept new Soviet supersonic bombers long before they reached the United States. It carried three air-to-air missiles and a second crewman who worked the fire control system. "
@@pictograph No. The YF-12 was an interceptor hence the F in the name, it was supposed to intercept and shootdown enemy supersonic bombers, it was built as a weapon system with the AIM-47 Falcon.
The AIM-47 Falcon never entered service as the YF-12 never did, but they were fully developed and tested and ready for serial production when the project was cancelled. in fact when it was cancelled the aircraft has already received an official airforce designation as the F-12B, as well as appeared on the budget as such.
The AIM-47 Falcon was designed to be launched at Mach 3+ cruising speeds which the YF-12 was capable of reaching and indeed they tested the missile with launches at Mach 3.2-3.3. The AIM-47 Falcon and the radar developed for the YF-12 ended up being the basis for the AIM-54 Phoenix and the massive radar of the F-14.
On the other and the Su-47 was never anything more than a technology demonstrator and one plagued with more issues than you can count.
@@pictograph As other have pointed out, the lettering and numbering says it all. Y is for prototype. F is for fighter. 12 puts it right after the F-11 Tiger (1962) and before the F-14 Tomcat (1972) (since for some reason the Fighter numbering system jumped to the F-100 to the F-111 - though I don't know what caused this). SR is for "Strategic Reconnaissance", though for some reason the Blackbird is the only plane to ever receive this moniker.
With the CF-105 Avro Arrow. Unfortunately it was canceled before it could fly with the Iroquois engines that were developed for it. Which would have pushed its speed beyond Mach 3
That's overhyping?
The plane can’t go beyond Mach 3 due to heating up problems. That’s why all planes are going Mach 2. When you start to hit the Mach 3 barrier you get a heat cone kind of like the re-entry of the space shuttle which is why Mach 2.9 or so is more or less the limit. It’s kind of like breaking the sound barrier
Yf-12? Also the F-22s speed is classified
I'm not going through all of the comments to see if someone else said it - they probably did - but I love the little references you put in. The 'Top Gun' reference on the F-14, obviously, but also the Xi 'Pooh Bear' Jinping with the J-20 (I assume the chained rabbit is another reference that I don't get).
There is the Mighty Vark, I had one at M 2.25 during an FCF flight, thing could move!
The Soviets were great builders ... I saw a MiG25 once when I was a kid, flying overhead. 😊
Your lucky
Lucky. I only see F-15s and F-16s
I see Mig-31s with a dagger under their bellies, Su-35s, Su-34s, Mig-29s almost every day. I live in the Crimea and they are patrolling our borders, chasing NATO chicks away from the borders of Russia. Sometimes it seems to me that Russia should send its strategic bombers along the US borders at a minimum distance (but without violating the 12-mile distance from the coast) And arrange full-scale exercises with strategic nuclear forces with Cuba and Venizuela in the Gulf of Mexico.
@@crimeanhawk123 that would be a great idea
@@crimeanhawk123 While a great show of force yes. I do not think it is the most viable option if anyone wants to keep peace between the two of them. Although i get why Russia is doing all of this. Imagine if Russia had militairy bases in Mexico and Cuba. Its the exact same that the US has militairy bases in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Norway. I don't think the US would act very kindly if russian bases were on Cuba. Just like they did in the 60s.

Best plane Canada ever build. However........
The mach speed at high altitude is lower than sea level (1234 km/h), so the real planes speed in mph/kph aren't fast than shown in this video in my opinión. Beautiful models.
Depicted F-102 and Mig-19 are incorrect.
top !!! thank´s from brazil
Everyone must also remember that the Avro Arrow did Mach 1.98 without the Iraquois engine as RL206 never flew before the cancellation of the program. The government was keen to not allow it to fly as the preseved performance would have outweighed the cancellation in the eyes of the Canadian public.
There's actually a good documentary about how the American government shut the program down and the reasons why. Mainly they didn't want Canada selling it when they were getting ready to produce There's.
Those speeds are fully stripped configurations. What is interesting is to know max speed with combat load. A F-35 looks slower than a F-16 on paper, but with combat load it's actually faster. A F-16 can't reach Mach 1.6 with weaponry. throw in a targeting pod and its alot slower. Fully pimped with a pod and droptanks it can't even reach Mach 1.
oh my, the F16 featuring the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, together with Singa the Singapore courtesy campaign mascot :D
the music gave me the 2020 Covid chills
I am a BAC Lightning fanboy, so I would just like to point out that it is the oldest aircraft on this list and is the only one capable of going from sub sonic to supersonic in a vertical climb, and can sustain Mach 2 when verticle... Shame about the range and armament, though.
Starfighter is older by a few months if we go by date of first flight. March vs. August of '54. Lightning F.6 only reaches 1:1 thrust to weight in burner with about 1,000 lbs of fuel on board, so I'd like to see the numbers on the version that can go through Mach 1 in a vertical climb. Seems unlikely in the F.6 and even then only just before it flames out from fuel starvation (the Avons go through 505 lbs/min each in burner). Also pretty certain the F-15 will go through Mach 1 going straight up with an empty weight of 28,000 lbs and total burner thrust of 47,540 lbs.
I am fan of EE Lightning too. Here is interesting fact: During British Airways trials in April 1985, Concorde was offered as a "target" to NATO fighters including F-15 Eagles, F-16 Fighting Falcons, F-14 Tomcats, Mirages, and F-104 Starfighters - but only Lightning XR749, flown by Mike Hale and described by him as "a very hot ship, even for a Lightning", managed to overtake Concorde on a stern conversion intercept. So saddled rocket do it. Yeehaaaw
@@jozomrkva This story smells a bit sus, the Eagle can outclimb the Lightning (The Eagle set a time to climb record to 12,000m in 59.38s and climbed to 25,000m in 161.02s) by a comfortable margin and is also faster by a comfortable margin. If the Eagle failed where the Lightning succeeded, I suspect the Eagle driver wasn't trying. Same for the Starfighter, the top speed was about the same as the Lightning, but while the Lightning took "under 3 minutes" (per Wikipedia) to climb to 11,000m the Starfighter held the time to climb record for 12,000m @ 99.90 seconds (also per Wikipedia).
Nice as you always do! congratulations!
I think you forgot one... SR-71 Blackbird with MACH 3
The SR-71 Blackbird was a Reconnasince Aircraft not a Fighter jet...
@@noahsaunders3919 Originally, the Blackbird was built to be equipped with weapons but was converted into a reconnaissance plane when it was realized that the plane flew faster than a rifle bullet.
Also the similar projects known as A-12 and YF-12.
@@jpnc2319 Yes, That is true I suppose.. though of course these aircraft did a specific role. The initial intent of the YF-12 program was to drop a large bomb on Russia, but even that did not pan out. Not also withstanding the amount of time and cost it took for one SR-71 to fly. Interesting fact about it though is that Briefly they did not hook up with a tanker in five minutes after Takeoff, it had to return. After a successful partial fueling, it flew to altitude and then dove to heat up the skin to stop all of the leaks as that was how the aircraft was designed. These aircraft of course had to be handbuilt and could not be fully mass produced like most aircraft only the U.S could afford to operate them but in the end they were probably were never going to be fighters or interceptors.

Translation of my comment for English readers: If there was one thing not carried over by the MiG-25, it was the engines. They were literally repurposed cruise missile engines and had a service life measured in hours. While this was good for interceptors like itself, using these engines on any other fighter would not be worth the logistical strain after extended flight. Normal engines are used in all MiGs after the MiG-25.

F-15 isn't being replaced by the F-22. There are thousands of F-15's in active service and it's platform serves as a superiority fighter who's legacy continues to be one of the best not by its performance alone, but it's ability to adapt to changing technology architecture. Cue in the F-15EX. Also, the two fighters serve different roles. The F-22 plays a sentry role, that coordinates and identifies targets under the safety blanket of stealth, while the F-15's are the long range interceptors who fire and forget. With the advent of the stealth eagle, the F-15EX might replace the F-22 if anything, but both play a major role in modern day air superiority.
Sounds like you really know your stuff. I thought the F-4 Wild Weasel would be in there somewhere. And the F-22 was a surprise to me. I figured with the super cruise it would be faster than the F-15 Eagle.
@@steventaylor8785 the F4 Phantom was in there. And does anybody really know the Raptors capability?;)
@@429thunderjet2 That's right, I forgot the Raptor's stats were still classified.
Hope they keep f22 as long as possible. Until something superior is made.
@@jc.1191 Oh I bet they will, the Raptor is big bucks. I believe they were going to build more of them but congress nixed em, too expensive.
I wouldn't bet on any Chinese aircraft actually doing their claimed top speed.
The f-102 at the start looked like a beast❤ my type of aircraft
Tejas has speed of 1.8 mach in final operation clearance version update your knowledge.plz
The topspeed is today mostly irrelevant, supercruise counts. Supercruise means that the jet can travel at Mach 1 without afterburner, because the afterburner drastically reduces the range by burning giant amounts of fuel. Today oposing fighter jets in combat fire also rockets at each other from a far distance. In this case counts from wich far distance on the rockets could be fired and how precise did they find their target. Figher jet dogfights are a thing of the past.
The faster you go the further and the more precise your rocket can reliably hit its target. Beyond visual range combat is all about bleeding the rockets speed. To call topspeed irrelevant is very far from the truth (imo) and the high topspeed of the F-15 compared to it's rivals combined with the amraam-missles which can use that advantage is one of the reasons for her legendary k/d-ratio. Dogfights or merges almost always happen beneath mach-1 so I don't see it's relevance in the argument.
Dogfights are a thing of the pass, eh? So tell me, what are you planning on doing when the tiny amount of missiles your plane can carry runs out? Run back home with your tail between your legs? 😂😂😂😂😂😂There's a reason why most if not all of these "stealth" planes still have guns and/or can add them on if the need arises. To even remotely suggest that dogfights are a thing of the past is to completely ignore the fact that while missiles are capable, missiles can miss and unlike in games you don't have an infinite amount of them to fire. In fact, you'll often find in certain situations that the pilot will save their missiles and use their guns instead.
@@devvytm Can't dogfight if your aircraft got shot down by an AMRAAM.
Top speed is not something you use in dogfights. While it isn't as important as it used to be, a faster jet is generally better if all other things were equal. That's because it further increases missile range, allows to more easily dodge opponens' missiles, as well as allows to more easily intercept targets by giving them more time to react.
因为做不到 所以不重要
Super super. I love it.
Thank you very much 😁
I rarely comment on videos (for realz, look at my profile) But I have to pause in between each vehicle on all of your segments (not just this one) just to read all the descriptions. Maybe wait a little longer before switching to the next vehicle?
A lot of people don't realize that the fastest human flight pilots, besides capsules on re-entry, flew the X-15, to the edge of space. Neil Armstrong flew one and almost skipped off the atmosphere like a stone over water. He only did an emergency maneuver and landed in a different state as a result.
Too bad the U.S. stopped production of the YF-12. Would definitely be the fastest fighter jet.
Realy I like this fastest fighters
yo the Draken and viggen so fast for the first flight date compared to others
overall the dassault rafale is one of the most impressive
But it is french company not an endian
@@Manish-ud4sl well yeah it is
At mach 1.8 it sucxs. 😊
Speed is essential in chasing, evading and escaping out of the battle field. I will go for the upgraded Mirage2000 instead.
@@julwiezdeghorz5089 other than speed, the Rafale is one of the most capable combat aircraft. There's a reason it replaced the Mirage.
Overhyped as crap
Love the tribute to Top Gun for the F-14.
Still the most beautiful plane ever produced.
❤️🤍💙
Great video. 👏👏
I like the name of the fastest plane, Foxbat!
Cool video bro 😎 but where is f-104 starfighter??
The Su-57 has a cruising speed without afterburning. The maximum speed of this fighter is almost 2.6M
The Su-57 is expected to reach Mach 2.6 upon completion of the new Izdeliye 30 engine in 2027. Currently, the maximum speed of this aircraft is Mach 2.0. These claims are very doubtful, because even the new engine for the Su-57 will be 9% weaker than F-22`s Pratt & Whitney f119.
