  • Today I’m sharing prohibited items for the airplane. You are not allowed to pack certain items that go through the Transportation Security Administration line in a carryon bag. Some things are not allowed in your checked luggage. Here is a list of dangerous items you are not allowed to fly with. I also have travel tips throughout this list.

I just wanted to chime in and say thank you, Laurie. As a TSA officer, one of the things I hate having to do is have passengers surrender items that exceed 3.4 ounces. Please folks, just transfer important creams into a 3.4 ounce container. It's better to spend two dollars at Target for a container than to have to surrender a twenty or thirty dollar facial cream or lotion.

A few years ago my dad was stopped at the Cancun airport and prohibited from bringing a ping pong paddle in his carryon. A flipping ping pong paddle. He had to check it because it was considered a weapon. Hashtag: Worst weapon EVER. (He likes to play ping pong at our resort. He’s pretty good and he has his own paddle, and he didn’t want to lose it.) The world has gone crazy.

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie so far only fear I have is weight of carry on and personal item combined. I am flying with Iberia and their website states combined it has to be no more than 22lbs 😬. I’m a military person and used to having a free checked bag, which means I throw it all in there and have no worries 😉. International flights don’t honor the military with a free checked bag sadly so I am trying to learn how to pack like a minimalist so I don’t go over that weight. They ended up allowing it as his personal item, but it had to be kept in the bag provided by Disney when he made it and the hilt and light up "blade" had to be disconnected. It does get you pulled over though! On two occasions we forgot to check that our kids had emptied their school-backpacks properly before travel. They were stopped for a check of their carry-ons and a pair of school scissors turned up! They were measured with a measuring tape and we got to keep them, but as soon as they see scissors on their screen they will check. (Which is good)

Hello, thank you for sharing your air travel experiences with regards at airport check points. This will be my first time travelling to Australia for a contract sponsored work, still awaiting outcome. Are several 3.4 ounces liquid and powder packs in one see through plastic bag allowed? Are there fines involved? Is packing 10 days wear with accessories for economic reasons too much? Appreciate your sincere comment.
