Not just a super-weapon. It’s the family heirloom, passed down generations. Trevor was borderline emotional when he found it.

The more I hear about the Castlevania Lore, the more I'm impressed with how the producers of the show have managed to add weight to certain items such as this
The music, Trevor's shock and awe, even the curiosity he had before seeing it, tells a lot about its importance, and it adds wonder to what else his renowned family may have in store

@@tylermcneeley3136idk about that, because dracula reincarnates at least once every century in the lore. The Belmonts without the Vampire Killer whip(the Morning Star) would never be able to defeat him, so it’s important to not lose it lol.

@@sonhoang_69 it's a bit of a yes and a bit of a no. since there are very few people who had managed defeated Dracula without the whip. among them is Alucard who had to kill him a second time in SOTN. then Hector from Curse of Darkness which takes place some years after Castlevania 3 which is netflix's castlevania. third is Shanoa from order of Ecclesia which takes place atleast a decade or so after SOTN. Honorable mentions to Cornel a werewolf from the N64 castlevania legacy of darkness.

@@zeterzero4356 Indeed, it's likely alchemy in the games. As for the netflix series, I'd imagine, though don't take my word as canonical, it'll be established that the Morning Star is the Vampire Killer, the 'head' containing the soul, thus why it heats up when enroute to a demon's chest, and the leather whip is a sort of training whip for the Belmonts until the Morning Star is passed down.
I don't think the leather whip was ever actually established to be the Vampire Killer in the Netflix series, and it combines elements majorly from the NES trilogy (the entire plot and cast), the PS2 games, and the Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night era (you don't get whip upgrades in Rondo of Blood: Richter starts out with the chain whip. The only time it's depicted as leather is in the Dracula X Chronicles remake on PSP.) for the narrative. Since Rondo of Blood has the Vampire Killer be the chain, and every other game upgrades the Vampire Killer *into* the chain, as well as providing a flaming whip attack when there's no subweapons (the head heating up?), I imagine they're taking the Vampire Killers design primarily from Rondo of Blood.

I was watching this part with my then gf and I was going nuts. When Trevor pulls the chest out of its hiding, I was literally screaming. She asked me "but what is it?! A treasure or something?", and I couldn't articulate my excitement. "It's the Vampire Killer! The Belmont's sacred weapon! I... I can't..."
She didn't get it, and I started to shed tears (manly tears, of course) of pure joy. Then Trevor takes the whip, and she then realizes how much of a big deal it was. I cannot fully describe my feelings, never have I experienced such love for a series with details like this has.

While yes it's called the Morning Star, it went by other names too. The Alchemy Whip, the Combat Cross, the Dark Whip, it was even once named after the beloved lost soul that fused with it long ago, "Sara".

I adore how this show and The Witcher put in TONS of fan favorite characters, weapons etc and NONE of them are shoehorned in. They didn’t sway far from the formula and the characters and elements they changed are better than what the were prior. Isaac being the best of these in terms of how he was in the game and what they made him as instead. Most video games and books that get turned into shows or films just put things in completely out of context(Resident Evil live action films being the biggest offender of this) but Castlevania and The Witcher know the lore and what fans would prefer which is why the fans will invested and keep ratings great.
