  • Social Work Coffee Breaks are an opportunity for social workers to explore new ideas, learn practical skills, and connect with social workers from across the country.
In the session, James explores the use of family meetings and family group conferences and considers their place and effectiveness within the social and political context of social work practice, with reference to the new National Framework. This is supported by making distinctions and connections with restorative approaches and systemic ideas, including positioning theory. The session concludes by putting forth some considerations for you, the practitioner, in relation to family meetings, whilst also inviting curiosity into imagining informal ways of creating spaces for family networks to come together to create change.
