  • Landscapes exist at the convergence of the past and present, and the forest landscape of northeast Ohio is no different. While issues of forest management such as reforestation, ecosystem preservation, and sustainable harvest rotations reflect contemporary values, it is important to remember that these values are imposed on forests that are the product of past land uses and values. CRWP partnered with Adam Rugela, Ph.D. student from the Geography Department of Kent State University, as part of our Speaker Series to bring you a free online presentation. Watch as Adam discusses the land use history of northeast Ohio with an eye to the changing acreage and species composition of the region’s forests. Most importantly, it asks what the implications of this history for current forest management decisions are.
