- Nik Kershaw performing 'Don Quixote' at Live Aid in front of 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium, London on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

To my musical tastes, I can vouch Nik kershaw is unique in his melody and arrangement and would place him with artists like Al Stewart, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot and bands like the Moody Blues, Jethro Tull etc. He is amazing.
On Live Aid day Kershaw was the biggest new pop star on the bill... this song was a reasonable hit that summer. I love the song. Great band.

Why do so many people judge on Nik Kershaw and his songs? Saying he is artless, not good, trash and has no talent? And also saying this song is trash? You people must realise Nik Kershaw is way way more talented than you actually think. You haters need to stop judging on this man. People write there own songs to show what they can do and this man really did show off a huge talent that just wasn't noticed enough by the public. You haters come here to hate what is the actual need for it? Really it's just stupid and childish, your all like adults and you still act like children? You lot need to grow up and stop hating on someone for doing there own thing, Nik never did anything to you lot. Imagine hating on someone and there songs that could have took ages to make. Nik Kershaw is No1 and honestly the best musical artist to exist. It's such a shame he wasn't noticed enough :/ (no changing my opinion)
People today are so sad ..all they do is criticise. Back in the 80s Nik was such a cool guy everyone I knew liked his music. Certainly better than a lot of the garbage produced today!!
@@desertrose1226 Theres alot of crap music out these days. Nik had pure talent and still does, loads of 80s artists do and still do till this day! older music will always be better than music today. Old music will never compare to music now because its crap and i dont call it talent compared to old musicians they did and still do have alot of talent! :)

I love this song. I had it recorded on an old beta cassette that later disappeared. I no longer remembered it, but today I listen to it and my memories of that time are revived

I cannot really , as basically it would just be a series of clips edited together. The Band Aid trust have access to all the source material , so they can upload a complete artist's set without breaks. I am always thinking of how they can generate more money for the Trust , and also have a chance to watch the whole concert , rather than just a series of individual clips. Hopefully, for the 40th Aniv , they will make the **FULL** concert available for everyone with 5.1 Audio , up-scaled with modern Ai to 1080p. I doubt they will do it , but we can hope eh?. We know that they have the source material..

@@teddystacker There’s no real need to upscale the footage recorded in London to be upscaled to 1080p. There was an analog camera crew in Wembley who recorded most of the event in 1080p, and Band Aid knows of it, but they refuse to utilise it for some reason.

@@desertrose1226 they indeed were, at the less known Sydney concert called oz for Africa, I think inxs were one of the only ones broadcast to the other stadiums from the concert
It's interesting. Nik Kershaw and his band may have been the tightest and most faithful to their albums of any band at Live Aid, and yet they didn't really get the crowd going like David Bowie or Queen.
Both Queen and Bowie had been playing a lot longer than Nik at the time though,therefore they were more well known and loved.Although I can understand what you mean,Nik played amazingly at live aid!
