@1:39:58, "are people that cynical because they don't tend to behave that way in the real world".
Chris is definitely surrounded by a bubble of incredibly motivated and successful people. I would guess that he doesn't have long or meaningful interactions with the vast majority of people that constitue the average person in America, along with all the struggles and stress they live with daily. Many if not most of the working class is cynical because they understand the political class has abandoned them and the culture is heading in the wrong direction. People may not express this cynicism in a brief and casual interaction but it comes out when they get online and feel more comfortable expressing their true feelings.
Reading some of these comments, and not having followed very much of Gary Vee over the last few years, I was scared to listen to this interview. I just finished the episode and was relieved to find that this is the same Gary Vee as always, and perhaps a more restrained version of himself whom interrupted incredibly less than years ago; plus he actually conversed on this episode. What is everyone so upset over? I personally stopped listening to Gary BECAUSE he is consistent with his message (I learned so much from his content over the years and felt like it was time to move on). Thanks for a great episode, Chris. And thanks for being so steadfast in being yourself, Gary.
Came here to say this.
We back👌
Manipulated NFT and Sports card market at the expense of his audience who he peddles his 1 liners too, then profits off them through market manipulation
Key takeaways
- Best content creation strategy
- What’s in it for them?
- Expertise + passion
- Self awareness with content creation
- Don’t have the gift of gab? learn to write
- Don’t like showing your face? Make faceless content
- You can fake authenticity but long term you will be exposed
- People are growing faster than ever on social media
- Gary Vee doesn’t consume anything deep enough. Just enough to keep his finger on the pulse.
Thank you for boiling this down to a short list of valuable take aways!❤
Boss comment. Thx
Two hours of empty platitudes and tone deaf hallmark inspiration, lets goooo
I don't really understand the hate on Gary, most cliches are true and his message has stayed consistent throughout the years. Love this
Totally agree.
I don’t think Gary V has a lot of haters. I believe he has a lot of critics, and there’s a difference.
Haters offer cutting remarks without much substance while critics consume his content and leave empty-handed or didn’t receive the mental nutrition to justify the time investment. And let’s face it, a lot of his content is clickbait or cringe. And that’s what the algorithm likes, sad to say.
He manipulated NFTs for his own benefit + inner circle at the expense of his community who he wants to eat up his cliches like patience, accountability, and not worrying about the end result (money), when he profited off them
Guys Gary invented cursing. He’s so authentic
Didn’t Gary want us to buy expensive NFT’s a while ago?
He is a scam artist duhh
This is crazy that he gets so much hate. It was a bet and he still supports it but it’s just not in the limelight, he still does veefriends
He’s always said 99% of NFT’s were gonna fail. The tech is useful, the implementation at the time was not.
NO
Yeah, Chris should've asked him about that. He did a pump and dump if I'm not mistaken.
As someone who was a big Vee fan, who got turned off by the whole VeeFriends things, I came into this very unsure what to expect, but honestly, this was a very good podcast. I feel like Gary is at his best when he's got someone who can respond opposite him and rein him in.
Dude he made millions off that. Responsible for hundreds of millions in sales.
I used to like gary, now i enjoyed more the ad read to be honest
lol wow i thought i was the only one
Did he do something "relatively" recently to be disliked? I haven't really paid much attention to him since 2016-17ish
@@user-xp5id1kh4rnot really, he was good at the begining but he’s too repetitive in a cliché way, and now i find him too narcisistic in the sense that every time chris wanna say something, he is interumpting “it’s funny while you were saying that i remembered when I did that but 10 times better and it’s not even related to what you were saying but yea, daytrade atention”.
Sorry for my english, i’m from Argentina
I feel like ever since "narcissism" became more of a mainstream knowledge lots of people got exposed lol

Tim Dillon trashing Gary Vee's redundant, cliche , and corny motivational talks is some of the funniest content on YT.
Yes, and then Tim spoke with Garyvee at length. You cannot top Tim Dillon’s commentary & criticisms, so I would highly recommend listening to that discussion
where do you think the inspiration for his fake business skits have been
@@BLAISEDAHL96
Of course I saw that episode. I'm not claiming Tim Tim hates Gary, or even dislikes him. I'm just stating how funny it is when Tim makes fun of Gary. And props to Gary for doing Tim's show, it shows a level of maturity and self awareness that many people lack.
@@acetate909 dude you just revealed a hidden gem for me, it's freaking hilarious!
For me the gem was when Tim Dillon bitches about social media and Gary quickly replies: so what is the alternative? Tim just went short circuit.
Kudos to the person who edited all the f*cks in this episode :D what a hustle!
He missed one! 😂
totally
1:43:40 he waited too late 😂😂
What Gary says is true. He clearly states he’s not always right but he emphasises going for it. There is always opportunity.
As a creator who just started uploading videos on YT… this provided a TON of value. Thank you Chris & Gary.
A lot of hate in the comments. I didn't think the convo was that bad! High-level but still, a lot of judgement and hate in the comments. I found value, thank you both!
"Stop being so cynical" means "trust me bro, would I ever lie to you? Buy the shit I'm selling"
The current Maladministration's line to a tee.
Just take it as a life advice, and not an economics advice
Gary doesn't need your trust. The trust of cynical people is worthless.
90% of the internet is listening to an expert in one arena fielding a series of best guesses within another.
I used to love Gary Vee content when I was younger because of his energy. But watching him in contrast to Chris you start to realise that he is just a great marketer who is good at selling his story.
At least he doesn't sell ideology like Jordan Peterson and Konstantin Kisin.
"I believe social media has exposed us" 1:42:42. So true.
The greatest guest in the podcast so far. A good counterpoint to Jordan Peterson's ideologically-informed views.
“a little ounce of poopy” that whole section needs to be made into a meme. Made me chuckle because it’s so true. Loved this episode. Great work 🙌🏼
I appreciate you bleeping out all the F words. I'm no prude, but I can listen around the family no problem. Thanks!
This was great. Not seen Gary ever. You do get the best from these guys 😊
Chris wearing an Architects shirt. Hell yeah 🤘
Just came here to say this! LOL 🤘🏻
Some people just love to hear themselves talk 😂
I am obsessed with knowing NOTHING about this empty, vapid world. Soon I will be living in a cabin in Montana reading 19th century literature and studying Stoicism and listening to 1950s jazz ... on vinyl! I'm so sorry young people that you were born into this horrible horrible digital non-world. All I can do is offer this advice ... RUN!!!
That sounds like a wonderful life. When I heard that you aren’t huddling enough for social media in the beginning, I wanted to throw up. I prefer to do traditional art, and teaching the practice to kids. I feel more fulfilled than the soulless ai shit. The art work look d has been a mess for years. There is so much content already published, and so little really worth listening to anymore. It’s smart to be choosy for what your attention goes to.

I recall Gary talking about Empathy a ton on Twitter and now he just seems into cards and attracting NFT people. Great interview.
Thanks for jumping right in to the conversation. Not everyone needs an intro!
He's back, Mr. Vague still going above and beyond the 100 word minimum essay and saying absolutely nothing.
Big respect for having Gary on! He was unorthodox but a great guest!
Chris I'm hoping and I do for you readers realise the battle is within and I'm on your side, that's how you sell an idea.
Very talented guy especially in not letting others to finish the sentence.

Gary getting goosebumps because of Chris is the funniest comment ever 🤣31:20
@1:33:00 Im sorry Gary, no, social media is not a reflection of society, its a limited form of expression that doesn't allow for the complexity and nuance of being human. I do agree with your prognostication about where it'll take us.
Everything we do is a limited expression. The statue of David is a limited expression. The Old Testament is a limited expression. The Godfather movie is a limited expression. Social media is the only one on the list that has way fewer limits, and involved way more people, than anything else. It’s undebatably the best reflection of actual society of anything we’ve ever had.
@@ForObviousReason In no way shape or form is social media the best reflection of society, particularly when we consider only 15% of the world is on social media. I suppose you'd have a half point to bark at if the internet was ubiquitous, but it isn't. Do you think a maximum of 280 characters or 10 pictures which passes along an ever evolving dynamic international interface is the same sense of limiting expression as the magnum opus of a genius director expressing an entire culture over a trilogy or a revolutionary sculptor perpetuating an art form and religion forward using nothing more than a single pose frozen in marble? Or is there nuance there you couldn't express over social media? In concise enough terms people would stay tuned in? You realize language is a bigger barrier than color, art, shape and feeling right? You need to understand all languages and all colloquialisms within each culture to "access" social media. A piece of paper and a pencil or dirt and a stick are far more accessible and have fewer limitations than social media, and have been around for longer. Can you point me to where all the corporate, governmental and religious limitations occur anywhere in life like they do daily on social media?
So you're claiming this podcast offers no nuance? You're claiming a 2000 word Subsłack article offers no nuance? You're conflating a three sentence Twitter post with social media as a whole.
Unlike televised news with it's five minute panel section full of contrived sound bites, social media platforms offer long form discussions or three hour breakdowns of complex ideas in a way that an advertiser dependent television show can never achieve.
Claiming social media isn't a reflection of society is something that I strongly disagree with. In fact, it may be the most pure expression of society because there are limited gatekeepers and people are free to express themselves more authentically. Of course there are clout chasing fakes but those people are easy to spot and dismiss. Social media is absolutely an representation of society,, both good and bad.
Tell that to the $200M empire he built on top of it
Music, literature, dance, and even a conversation are a limited form of expression a well.
After watching many episodes of this brilliant podcast, this was the first guest that gave me the creeps.
Does anyone else feel this?
1000% cliches and grifter energy
i wanted to comment the same thing. is anyone else finding this somehow dystopian and damaging mental-wise ? i am pro capitalism, but this goes somewhere to the extreme. and extremes are generally not good. 'trade your life for the attention black hole'. what i learned from this video is just another confirmation of how toxic and manipulative the internet has become
LE: i should know better to comment before watching the whole thing. what he said about taking a step back to take two forward regarding the internet bringing out our worst is actually a great perspective i never thought about.
dude annoyed the hell out of me.
I dont know if we have reached a point where the quality in guest is bound to drop in order to maintain the upload schedule? To me Gary is a just grifter.
This man’s definition of winning pretty neatly matches my definition of losing.

We always hated it. In the sixties we stood up and turned the volume down between Star Trek segments.
I mute the propaganda now.
But it still works. Good Ads still works. Local Business using Ads AND social media sells more. Just the way it is.

It would be great if you could bring Ben Felix from Rational Reminder. Very smart and talks in an easy-to-follow way.

Too much of anything makes tyrants of us. This is how social media feels to me right now. It feels like ADHD just threw up all over my phone. It's chaos to phsyfin through so much content to find valuable information. I hope we can organize it better.
GaryVee is the “pro” coach, for Varsity players, trying to go pro in the big-game of media. He’s just saying, NFL SHOULD be streaming on TikTok instead of Fox.
Really don’t understand the hate on Gary. There’s so much gold here.

I think the content just doesn't apply to me, he is talking about success on social media, which just has little to no practical application in my life. Popularity and social presence is just not even remotely where my priorities are. I think that's why I didn't enjoy this.
... and I hate to say it but this guy's voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me, which just makes this intrinsically unpleasant.
i never heard of Gary Vee, and he seems competent in his domain - that's not a bad thing, good for him. it's just that his domain is what makes the internet such a bad place lately, and yes, this is quite contrasting compared to other subjects we've been seeing on this channel. it was an interesting watch, but not my thing.
LE: i should know better to comment before watching the whole thing. what he said about taking a step back to take two forward regarding the internet bringing out our worst is actually a great perspective i never thought about.
I think one of the most important things Gary talked about was the topic at the 1:00:00 mark
So many people react to what they think someone said rather than trying to understand what the person actually said.
Fixing this one issue will probably solve 90% of issues seeing as how most people are seemingly intentionally misunderstanding one another these days.
So it looks like this:
“Ahhh! I don’t understand you, you’re a threat to me and my beliefs and my identity, must cancel you since you are a threat!”
Like wtf is that
Ha lots of negative stuff towards Gary. Very little respect for the fact he built a $200M empire and net worth on top of social. You can say all this is empty, but it’s these banal platitudes that end up being true later in life. I’m not sure what words you guys live by, if any, but these aren’t bad choices. Bunch of people that have accomplished literally nothing talking down about a highly achieved man. Go figure..
Why is this episode censored?
Most likely cause Gary curses a lot and it might damage reach on CZcams!
Even if you think it's hot air, I don't see anyone giving more encouragement to young people with dreams in one on one settings than Gary.
When it's Goggins or Hormozi telling you to nearly kill yourself to be better/have better "Yeah!" But when it's Gary telling you to be patient, don't be so hard on yourself, love the game while you can still play it "He's full of shit!"
Why do we identify with the self-loathing of self-improvement and not the empathy?
Love ufc 300 was amazing!!!
I think being cynical is being wise. I think cynical is taking your past experiences forward with you, and using those to help you make future decisions, also again, known as wisdom. Of course, the powers that be would like us to be doe eyed innocent sheep, and start each day a new. No cynical is good cynical isn’t negative cynical, not unhappy. Cynical means you’re not an idiot and you’re not gonna be taken advantage of. The powers that be hate cynical people because cynical people are smart. Ignorance is bliss.
Expect the worst and you'll only ever be pleasantly surprised. Helps me stay sane, especially when I've planned around people as I expect them to do what they've historically done no matter what they say........and then they do the thing I assumed they would. A bit sad how often this plays out.
Ignorance is something to overcome, but getting stuck on cynicism is not the answer. The difference between being wise and cynical is the certainty that there is no solution and trying to improve is a waste of time.
@@PavelHenkin but cynical, doesn’t mean the certainty that there will be bad it just means you believe in likely outcomes, but you are open to positive outcomes. It doesn’t mean negative it means data driven.
Cynicism vs Skepticism - completely different beasts.

While everyone's enjoying the awesome content I'm just here in awe at seeing Chirs wearing an Architects T-shirt. Stay metal Chris!
LonelyGirl15 is the reason I have trust issues, thanks for the reminder Gary 😂
The reason excess cynicism doesn't work is cynicism is a filter for the brain, which selects out things, based on that cynicism. I notice this all the time in my life. Whatever I'm thinking about I generally find in the real world. 🎤🎹🎶"A man hears what he wants to hear. And disregards the rest"....sang Simon and Garfunkel in The Boxer.
Cynicism is a story we tell about life. One of the correct things post-modernism got right, there is no such thing as reality. We select certain things out, omit others, our brains are pattern recognition and story seeking devices. That's also how computers work. They find the story programmed into them. Like Google Gemini AI, coming up with black Nazis after being programmed along Woke assumptions....which are stories set into computer programs....filters on reality, like cynicism, which is often confused with intelligence. Different things. We look for things we think are there. That's where the phrase "self-fulfilling prophecy" comes from. That's where the expression "be careful what you wish for" comes from. That's why positive thinking and goal planning work more than average: the brain goes looking for those patterns in the real world. That's why free will is a thing. We can choose among mental states. We decide how to see the world, what patterns to look for. I once knew a man who moved to a small town, then complained: "The people in my new town are unfriendly, just like the people in my old town". He was right. I once knew a man who moved to a small town, everyone was friendly just like his old town. He was right too.
Cynicism is fine. It’s the journey out of naivety. But you have to go all the way to being cynical enough to get cynical about your own cynicism, or you’ll just limit yourself.
@@doetodeer there you go...better, thanks
