This sleeping pad comes with a two-way valve and windsock to blow up the mat.

Any questions please put them in the comments and I will respond. It's worth noting that this camping sleeping mat can be a little noisy.
Thanks, Andy.
Please note the amazon link is what everyone sees and pays but I receive a miniscule finders fee when people use the link. It all goes back into backpacking gear!

Thank you for helping me decide. This one looks great, and I just ordered it.
It's such a good sleeping pad, you won't regret it!
I have one of these. Tested in the garden in -3 temperature and comfortable.
Currently on Dartmoor and it's getting a lot of use. So far so good, it's tough and you can definitely feel it returning the warmth. Ace piece of kit
Nice to hear someone else's thoughts. I use mine all the time. If I get cold it's never the part of my body on the matt. I can't rate it enough and I certainly don't feel like I need anything thicker and /or with more insulation. Thanks for sharing 👍
Hey! Is it still alive?
@@naturerumba I hope so.. it's in storage but I'll be relying on it again sometime. I think it's important to inflate it using the wind sock and not by breath as that could promote mold.
Great video. Thank you.
This will go well with my ME sleeping bag!
Keep up the good work. New sub, Off The Beaten Pot
Awesome! Thank you!
You really don't want to be breathing into the mat directly (or indirectly). The sock is mean to capture outside air by pulling in through said air and trapping it before pushing it in. Reason being this mat is down-filled. Introducing your own breath, which is usually a lot more moist than outside, will trap vapor inside the mat both reducing the insulating properties as well as reducing the down's life span.
You should use the wind sock to blow the mat up as shown in the video. This mat is not down filled hence it's name, Aerostat Synthetic 7.0. This mat uses a synthetic insulation with down-like properties that is nearly as good as down but doesn't have the same drawbacks such as moisture problems. Many top end hiking brands now use synthetic insulation instead of pure down too. This is a really warm mat and apart from noise issues associated with all insulated mats, I can't really fault it.
Yeah nice and comfortable on top of your sofa. 😂👍
😂
I'm thinking of buying one of these mats. How are you finding it 6 months on?
In all seriousness, it’s really comfy and the insulation is a game changer. The regular is ample for me at 5’8”. Insulated mats are a little noisy but they keep you warm and stop you waking up cold. It’s made of tough stuff and blows up fairly quickly too.
@@BackpackingUK Thank you. I'll get one ordered. 👍
I know this was a while ago… but how many time did you use ? Did it fail? Are you still using? Please let me know 8) I have a ME helium 38 I’ve had it six years, never failed used it all year round with a silver sheet ! Now my son uses it amazing products!
Still perfect! I mainly use my Big Agnes purely because it’s wider. Once you try a wide mat it’s hard to go back!
Do you think R 5 is too hot for summer? I would use all year around.
Possibly, but it totally depends on how hot it is and what sleeping bag you would use with it. It's easier to use an insulated sleeping pad all year round than a thick sleeping bag.
What's the best sleeping mat you've ever slept on? Please comment below.
I watched this video before I brought this and im happy with it. One of the best things I've brought and now I'm sleeping like a baby when out on camps and I haven't had to pay thermarest prices. BUT the only thing Is is that I can't get it back in the bloody sack 😂 any tips for this?
Just make sure you get ALL the air out of it first and roll it so the value is the last part you roll.
@@BackpackingUK I will have a go
So the Down Version of this or the New Thermarest XTherm?
That's a tough one! Both would be fantastic. I would have said the ME but the new Thermarest is much quieter than the old one.
This Mountain Equipment sleeping pad can be purchased from Amazon here: amzn.to/3tQy7NF
How low in temp have you had this?
Minus 3 degrees c. I don’t go out when it’s Baltic!
@@BackpackingUK don’t blame you 🥶good enough for me and the motorbike 👍
You should not inflate your mat through this bag. The bag is an air trap. Moisture from the mouth gets in, which promotes mold growth and reduces the temperature coefficient :-(
Using the bag is better than blowing directly into the mat itself. If you have issues with it please speak to Mountain Equipment directly.
@@BackpackingUK Thank you and too for nice introduce aerostat mat. video :)
£180, Deflates within just a few hours and I can't say I felt any warmth when sleeping on it. All I felt was the cold hard ground. So gutted, a £20 cheap mat from argos would've been better!
And nearly forgot, you have to chase it round the tent all night because it's so slippy.
Mine has never deflated, not even a little bit. It’s also noticeably warmer than my non-insulated inflatable mats. If you can, I’d send it back.
@@BackpackingUK
And yours was £70 cheaper 😭
