- This is the Mountain Equipment Aerostat Syn 7.0 Insulated Winter Sleeping Pad. Is this a pad that can rival the Sea to Summit Ether Light XT Insulated Rectangular Mat?
I have been using this mat for a year on numerous camps in all sorts of conditions and here is my review.
Thanks for Watching

Side sleepers unite! Here in Norway they advertise it as a 3-seasongs mat, understandably so, I was mostly wondering if it's crunchy/loud but it seems promising. Buying it on sale now, sure I'll be happy.
Hi, not crunchy and still going strong, I use a flextail to pump it up rather than my lungs to prolong it's life
Great video, Andy! 🙌 Your insights on the insulated sleeping pad were really helpful 👍 🎉👏
Thanks, I do ike a good mat, especially one that I feel warm and comfortable on, thanks for watching
Cheers Andy for creating this video reviewing the insulated sleeping pad. We're big fans of your channel and can't wait for more gear reviews and outdoor adventures. Thank you again!
Thank you for your kind words and glad I can be of service to your choice of a new sleeping pad, have a few walks editing at the moment including one I have filmed in 4k, hopefully out aoon
@@ExpeditionHiker Hi Andy, it's great to hear that you are excited about transitioning from 1080 to 4k! It sounds like you have some exciting projects in the works, I'm sure your viewers will appreciate the increased resolution and clarity that 4k provides. I look forward to seeing your new content when it's released. Best of luck with your editing and production process! :)
Now this one looks good x great price too
For a little extra weight it's a great warm comfortable pad
That's not down - its the synthetic polar loft. Commented earlier but seems to have disappeared. The synthetic you are reviewing is polarloft by 3M. Its synthetic. The Aerostat Down range are down...but not goose down . They're duck down.
I’ve got this one I love it 🥰
That makes 2 of us, I do value a good night's sleep out on the hills and get it with tge pad, I hope you do too?
@@ExpeditionHiker yeah it’s amazing 🤩
That looks like a good mat and 700+g isn't too bad weightwise. Carrying extra weight to ensure a decent night's sleep is a small price to pay. Do you know if the Flextail Tiny Pump fits onto the air valve? Cheers.
Hi yes I have a flextail and use it in on the pad, although found the wind sock bag doesn't take much longer than the pump
Hello Andy, what sleeping bag are you using in combination with this sleeping mat? I am going on my first weekend hike end of march in Belgium so around 10Celcius at night i think.
I have a mixture of bags I use, for around 10 Celsius I would either use a sleeping bag of synthetic bag mountain hardwear 20F or my valley and peak quilt although sadly valley and peak have stopped making quilts, valley and peak do stock enlightened Equipment quilts, I am a side sleeper so a quilt works better for me
Great review keep up the good work... quick question what do you use for navigation (gpx files) iv just ordered Garmin instinct 2 watch hope download some mid distance walks starting with derwent valley heritage walk after watching you doing it. michael
A compass & map old school
I use either map and compass or the app OS maps, download the routes so I can view offlne out of Internet signal areas
Buying it
Worthwhile pad to buy
