Mike has traded in the DriveTribe Charger Hellcat and decided to swap it for a new daily for Richard Hammond. Predictably, it is big, American, and has a massive V8 under the bonnet. Richard is going to have some serious adventures in his new toy!

well as we all know, Richard IS a Closet American..
Dodge is a terrible manufacturer and I can't wait for them to stop paying you to shill this garbage.
Sincerely, if you're in Europe do not buy a dodge product, it is literally junk from the factory.
Website doesn’t work ….
Just a tip from an American. Make/buy a long pole with a hook to reach those items in your truck bed. 😊
Someone should give him a t-shirt saying "Big truck, small Richard".
A tiny man in a massive car: a tale as old as time
"Honest, mine is big... enough. I bet."
Yep, and the inverse is also prevalent. 😂
I am Hammond sized but I only like small vehicles. I look ridiculous in big ones.
its almost like watching a 90lb. woman climb into an f-350
I think it was written in a cave somewhere 😂
I’m longing for the day when Clarkson turns up at Hammonds workshop in his Lambo tractor and gets his hands on some power tools.
Tools? U mean "an hammer"
Or knowing JC, no power tools, just a hammer.
@@nssteja7516 Monkey man Teja
@@davidh2022 *an hammer
That'll never happen... notice how they (Drivetribe, Richard, James). Never mention Jeremy by name or even in passing.
Richard is going to love it, everyone in Wales, however… I think a lot of people are going to be nervous as you’ve just given Richard an opportunity to do some very serious damage in his next accident.
He'll be fine though, probably won't even notice.
I'm reminded of the damage caused when Hamster drove the Marauder through Johannesburg. 🤣
As a welsh person, I can't wait! He's the best 😂
A very selfish choice of vehicle indeed
@@PhaQ2 LLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL! Absolutely!
Was there any doubt that Richard would go for the pickup truck?
That was my bet out of the 3...😉
Nope 😂
In Top Gear’s first trip to America, Richard got a 1991 Dodge Ram 150 for 💲1,000.
Richard is the most American British person you'll find.
The Hellcat already was a pickup truck
“I think you’ve overdone” as Richard’s head barely peaks over the hood 😂
Booster seats are extra!
That was a Top Gear moment if there ever was on Drivetribe.
They are normal sized truck in the US it’s just funny to see a uk person see this truck
I live in the USA and I've seen a few of these but I was actually surprised by how small it is. So many people modify their trucks here that this thing doesnt look all that crazy out the box.
I mean the US was practically built around the Car and because of that it makes sense that the roads are so large which then prompts car manufacturers to build big cars. Europe wasn't built around cars and thus roads and as a result also cars are smaller in size.
Closer to ranger than F-series imo
Ans more sensible
@@sys-administrator Normal roads can certainly fit the TRX but the truck is still rather large for European roads.
Roads in the Us tend to be much much wider then they are in Europe.
I'm sure you can find some examples of where this isn't the case but still roads in the EU are smaller then US ones.
@@alecwhatshisname5170 the TRX is based on the 1500. It's the F150 competitor.
Maybe it's the old TG fan in me that loves seeing Hammond giggle at a dodge, maybe it's the American in me. Either way I can't wait to see what adventures you guys take that monster on.
Dodge is not really American anymore, it is just a failing brand that the French bought
My father-in-law works for Stellantis on the Chrysler/Dodge line. He brings home M-plate vehicles all the time for testing. Here and there it's a TRX, so I'm fortunate enough to be able to ride in one. It is truly an unbelievable machine.
This is the only guy who can justify a 700hp as a daily driver
I have a 22' TRX (two Raptors prior) here in Arizona... it's our family daily for three toddlers 2/4/6. Having them 'demand' (err, yell!) for launches from stoplights and 'Baja' mode with all the windows down is stressful! LOL Average 9.8mpg. # YOLO Big smiles every morning from cold starts (especially with the aftermarket exhaust mods) - our HOA/neighbors think otherwise (but we don't like them either!).
I think anyone can justify anything if they try hard enough
I was going to add outside of America...I daily drive an F250.
I had an 800bhp R34 GTR as a daily driver until a couple of years ago
@@RockyNikita TRX is basically my dream daily, can’t afford one at all though. You’re living my dream! Glad you love it
The music is so so perfect for this. We need a whole show on Hammond and this truck
I live in the same area of the country as Richard, and you see vehicles like that all the time around here, but they're usually painted green and have a plough on the back.
I can't believe that Dodge is not going to be making these cars anymore😢
Electric is on the way. Let's call it a last hurrah with fossil fuel.
I'm thrilled they're going away. it'll reduce a certain demographic back to Altimas and Fortes and not terrorizing the roads at all hours.
@Nathan Thomas isn't it ultimately powered by coal?
Stellantis is actually betting on keeping combustion engines alive and kicking, they’ve been doing massive E-Fuel tests lately like Porsche has been doing as well.
The TRX will be available for 2024. Synthetic fuels are the future not electric cars
"Hammond you idiot... What have you bought man..." -Clarkson
richard really is American, in and out.
Seeing Hammond's face light up is always a treat.
R: "I'm not an American!"
Jeremy: "Yes you are" *points to the truck*
Remember Jeremy Clarkson drove a Ford Raptor on Top Gear when they left Hammond on the mountain in Canada it was a 6.2 v8 with a blower from Hennessey performance
I love how every time someone from across the pond does a video about a TRX, they just gawk and stare in awe of the size. Yet over here that's more of a medium size truck as a lot of us in rural US drive heavy duty trucks that are even bigger lol but nevertheless, great choice for a vehicle Hammond!
Right? 😂 I see so many F250’s and Ram 2500’s with 6-8” lifts and massive tires. Makes this truck look tiny.
I love how well John predicted the childlike giggle Richard would let out at driving this beast
I'm hoping for a James May roast of the TRX!
Oh my word! I absolutely love that. The noise from the exhaust is something else. Can’t wait to see that on the road.
HEMI engines tend to give you that big sound.
Richard is the only British person I’ve seen that always loves American cars
he is secretly an American
How is this going to look when you go to Tesco or to cafe for a coffee? These trucks are even difficult to park in Canada and Canada is MAHOOSIVE!
They have sensors that beep when you get close to something, as well as a composite birds eye view. If it's too big for the parking lot you park further away from the store.
I wish it was as easy to import cars over here in the states. I'm very jealous of that
What would you import if you could?
"I think you've overdone it" ... massive LOL
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the effort that goes into the editing on DriveTribe?
have you seen Hagerty? You will be 🤯
No?
It’s amazing to me that this is so huge in Europe. In America we also have 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks, this is the second smallest truck class you can get and it’s the smallest from dodge.
A Ford ranger is big in a lot of countries in Europe, so it makes sense that this is huge for them. The biggest truck I've ever seen in France is a ram 1500 and it dwarfs all the other vehicles there. My uncle has a Ford ranger and we struggle to park with it anywhere we go.
@@username8644 that’s just wild to me, I’ve seen a Touareg in Europe, that’s what I drive in the US and it looked massive in Europe but it’s just average size here, if that less
Love it and love that you both spoke with the bonnet at eye level 😂 Can we please get James in it? I would love to know what he thinks 😂
I’d love to see Richard try to get that up from Keswick and into Buttermere 🤣
Oh, that engine roar is so very...Richard.
Just to correct the AEC boss, the Challenger/Charger are manufactured in Ontario, Canada and not in the US
Had my RAM 1500 Stinger Sport for over 6 years now as my daily driver and still have a big silly grin every time I go out! Works hard and plays hard and must be the ultimate TONKA toy in yellow, cannot fault it unlike just about everything else such as Defenders and Discos that just break! Old school pit yard engineering built to last👍
I absolutely love that Hammond will be in a Ram. Really is the most American you can get. I called it! 🙌
Can't wait to see Richard take this on the road - watch out!
I can just picture Richard, Jeremy and James cruising in this
just imagining richard hammond on a narrow british country side with that thing occupying both lanes and with his face smiling is so hilarious
Can't wait to see them have fun with it!
Poor old Hammond he’ll have to employ some scaffolders so he can check the oil and water.
Hope they have a spare as he’s bound to bin it somewhere
like in that GT special where he drives around in that old Ram thats been lifted lol
Love to hear more about the Homologation steps, are the homologation rules still the same for EU/UK since brexit? Are things like dash mounted headlight beam height adjusters still a thing?
Get a life
Not on newer high spec trucks, they have auto leveling headlights. And that's not a requirement in North America
Im pretty sure if you buy a ram in the UK direct from dealer you don't need the extra lights and that but since AEC are German if you get one from them you'll also get all the EU homologation extras.
Love it. It's Topper Thornton parents car and he is willing to help transport water tanks with it, I swear no paint scratch. Anything this is - it's access is designed with BPMN and quality design of national garments performed by engine bay guys.
Clarkson definitely needs a ride in this truck Period
I'll be honest. I love these cars. I think they look awesome. But I really hope Hammond never has to take one of these into an English city. Cause we have some nasty narrow streets.
its not the streets that are nasty.. its the size of these things
Uk has narrow roads anyway. Especially in the country where he lives.
@@watertaco Nah it’s the roads they’re literally hundreds of years old
I need a video of Jeremy surprisingly being told he HAS to drive this for the day
Jeremy does own a Raptor on the farm, so a face-off would be amazing!
@@gillianpile7910 it's a ranger raptor tho right? These things aren't even comparable
He has experience with a Ford F150 VelociRaptor already
I bought an Orange 2022 ignition Edition 2 weeks ago. It is the MOST bonkers insane CRAZY car I have ever owned......and I LOVE IT!!!
I can tell u from experience, it’s not mpg on that truck, it’s gallons per mile lol
Can't wait for the next road trip 'Hammond Visits Jurassic Park, - and thank you to AEC and Drivetribe for furnishing us with some more great content.
i like how richard says "can i start it" as if its not his car
You need to do it in the old rat rod shop truck style theme that everyone does with old 50s and 60s trucks but with a more modern truck like this with moon disc hub caps and banded steel wheels banging!!!
James may has to roast this. 😁 I sa a TRX at a car show last year. It truly is huge...and awesome. OPEC will have to increase oil production.
The kinda love Richard gives his vehicles is unsurpassed
The Hammster will be universally loved and admired by every single motorist he encounters on the road…
I mean, I've got a Discovery 4 (same as Richard's in the bcakground shots) and i thought its big, but this is immense and i love it
It's going to be fun trying to overtake oncoming traffic in the Ross on Wye area!
You guys make the best car content. Plus Jason camisa, Tom voelk, throttle house and kbb, Alex on autos, driven. I could go on and on
Interested to see what adventures you get up to in this beast. First I'd recommend ditching the bulbar as it obstructs the front recovery points
I'd really rather have the bull bars. In my area wildlife crossing the road is a concern. I'd rather not total my car because I hit a deer.
I even made bull bars for my mom's Subaru outback. And when she hit a deer at 50mph, there was no damage at all.
Hammond needs any extra protection he can get when his inevitable crash happens.
Hammond can barely see over the bonnet, never mind the bull bar.
Even though I saw the thumbnail I was actually hoping for something bigger.
Can someone PLEASE get a reaction from his family?! First look and first ride?!
Izzy will die laughing over this.
A beautiful beast. That engine sounds like a music. I wanted to see what Clarkson had to say about this.
Beautiful - I’ve always wanted a Ram in the UK
700 hp!? A DAILY DRIVER!?😳
Sure, why not? Ever heard of Ferrari? Rimac? Tesla?
@@Jeff.78 totally agree. I’m fed up of seeing every other person on the road in their rim or rarri. It’s all becoming a bit samey
@@MrJonnyd55 What next? Are you also fed up seeing people driving small hatchback and family cars you don't like?
@@automation7295 also fed up of people missing the point / joke / sarcasm. And yes, hatchbacks are whack.
@@MrJonnyd55 I mean performance models of other brands like Merc or BMW or Audi also have quite a bit of power but they are much smaller and usually weight less aswell so you don't need as much to get going quickly
He's going to need a booster cushion for sure.
Nah these are designed to be driven by small Richards.
Honestly my dream car. Along with a 67 fast track mustang
Erm, the Chargers / Challengers are built in 🇨🇦 , just down the street here in Toronto (Brampton)
I have had a few Chargers as rental cars. Solid car even the v6's seem to have a soul
@Jake Rheault Yes, I've had 2 Hellcat Chargers, the last a Hellcat WB Redeye. Drive an EV now...
Accelerating civilization to vehicle electrification as Hammond has used all the fuel😂
This car just fits with Hammond so much!
If it came from the Baltimore harbor I'm pretty sure I seen it being shipped over.
Seen a few TRXs a few months ago and wondered why so many were there in the port
I hope y'all took some time to encourage Richard to go see James and or Jeremy in this before they were aware of this video's existence.
Kaleb would lose his mind over this.
Clarkson and May would hate it but it would be fun seeing them rip on it.
Even In the U.S. these trucks are very big for a lot of things. A lot of the drivers of full size pickup trucks have to park further sway or park like a holes to fit into some parking spots.
They just park covering up 3/4 of the sidewalk, and maybe back in with a big tow hitch to break the ankles of unwary pedestrians. One person commutes to a desk job in them, and it's the most idiotic thing.
Maybe for you, not for most places in the US though. This is just a modded 1500 it's not long at all and the only concern for parking is that it's pretty wide for a 1500. It's not a big truck, it's a medium truck. A 2500 long bed or a 3500 with any configuration will dwarf this truck. We have a 2500 power wagon and it makes this truck look small.
Edit: and this isn't a full sized pickup.
I knew thats what it would be, this looks like some fun coming!!
Love this! Will love the James roasting video as well.
Hammond is deep down a secret American
Should come with a ladder.
I remember thrashing one of these on a rally track in Sweden. It looks huge but on dirt, it puts to shame Land Rovers. It's the most fun but most ridiculous machines available that you can actually insure as a daily driver. It's so pointless but that's the magic behind. You Americans are crazy and I love you for making these. I can't wait until the electric version with 1000bhp is finally available.
I have trouble driving my TRX on the streets of Chicago. How tf anyone manages this on UK roads is absolutely wild but love to see it!
What a gargantuan beast! I’m in Canada and these are big and loud here, look out England!!
When people are startled by a loud vehicle, it’s instinctive to look up at the cause of the noise. This does not mean they approve. This is like someone with a bunch of tattoos going to the grocery store wearing a tank top in the middle of winter. People are looking at you for the opposite reasons you’re thinking of.
It's a shame they couldn't get you a right hand drive version, like they get in Australia
My dream car. Would be happy with the limited but dream of TRX. Was thinking it would have right hand conversion.
So it’s not a 2cv
👏👏👏 ...THANKS MIKE .......HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE ✌️
gorgeous motor 😍
The hills are alive with the sound of hammond being a hooligan in a v8 pick up the size of the moon.happy days 😅
I find it hilarious that the video was interrupted by an ad for a Ford Mach-E right when Richard was firing up the truck and smiling at the noise.
If Richard needs a step ladder to get in that thing (love it by the way), I have a few in my shed going spare.
7:41 what a great shot/scene lol
Here in Dallas Texas we have a lot of pick ups. I don’t believe I have seen one of those so soak it up UK 😀
So, is the Chevy Meteor thing that I saw recently a real truck? I hope so! I love the name and the rivalry.
Congrats!
We need an update on this car please Hammond 🙏
Yes, I was hoping it’s be the TRX! Awesome
Very lucky guy what a toy now down the farm and test that off road out
At 13:31 I thought Richard was going to say "Welcome to Jurassic Park" 😂😂😂
1:22 him casually calling the TRX a Ranger
Richard pushes on the gas pedal. And the bones of 3 Trex vanish from the earth. Forever.
I also love the TRex eating a raptor. It's the Hyabusa/Blackbird thing all over again.
So glad there are people who drive hellcats in inclimate weather.
The Ram TRX dwarfs other traffic on the road even in America, can't imagine how huge it would look on european streets
The funny thing is, I currently have a first gen raptor and I want the new ranger raptor that is just now coming to the states. Grass is always greener on the other side I guess!!!
Its big but its only a crew cab 1500 5.7' bed, image them having a Crew Cab RAM 3500 8' bed Dually with the 6.7L Cummins with 1,000 lbft of torque
is a ladder for pouring the windscreen liq included ? at least in this spec delivery :)
Well, I'm not surprised.
I watched all TG and all GT episodes, but I also watched all the individual shows of each presenter and I know that Hammond likes Pickups. He even had one during the USA special, so when you guys showed the 3 options, it was clear as day - it will be the RAM.
I bet you've not watched all Too Gear episodes
@@brownstar69
I did watch all episodes with Jason, James, Richard and Jeremy.
The only ones what count.
Also did watch all of TG USA and TG Australia
1:40 Well the first step is accepting that you'll never be able to park that truck in a normal city parking spot. There probably will be several parking garages you can't enter too
