      Honestly breaks my heart, I try so hard to never judge someone else, but I also have severe anxiety and depression, but I tried my hardest to never let my kids see it, I actually use to lock myself in the bathroom for ten to fifteen minutes at a time to get myself under control. I understand that everyone feels things differently, so no judgment to this mother, I just hope she gets or has gotten help so she can be there for her child, and have a happy life with him ❤❤ hope that they are all doing well now ❤❤

      have you ever thought it was not just your moms addiction but your grandmothers control and not asking your mothers input in the first place. my moms not an addict at all and my grandmother would take control of every event and not want my mothers input all because my mother was an Asian woman. my mother wanted to help wanted to help and my grandmother would not let her say you know nothing about american birthday parties. i know as recovery and being addicted it is that kind of behavior and saying my mother acted just like that gives you no right to say that. i have been clean for 4 years now. don't go casting stones and educate yourself to look through and addicts eyes.

      Exactly. And it's also a family issue at the core.. Because although individuals suffer from addiction (like in this case, it's only Melanie who's using), but the problem doesn't exist in a vacuum - it's always a sign of preexisting, major _family_ dysfunction.

Your family will pick up the slack to ensure your innocent son still has a somewhat enjoyable birthday. Even as his addict mother has a meltdown in the background. So yes your family can and will be happy without you when you do stuff like this.

      But then grandma will probably end up raising another innocent, impressionable young child who later on turns out to be a drug addict. Melanie has her major share of responsibility of course.. But grandma obviously failed at being an effective parent, to say the least. To think anything otherwise is just ignorant and unaware. So, terrible idea

    • @josephskyy2296
      @josephskyy2296 Před 4 lety +6

      @Cheryl Smith Uh.. Matt's entire point was specifically about the grandmother and _her_ parenting, just as it reads, in reference to the initial comment. You also misconstrued what was meant by the mention of Melanie's role in being responsible-regarding her _drug use_ ... i.e. the clear implication that she should have some degree of a sense of agency, and has made certain decisions of her own volition that have led to the current state of substance addiction. In other words it's being asserted that 100% blame probably can't be put on the grandmother - and so Melanie is to be held responsible to an extent too, for her behavior/ choices that directly led to her present-day drug addiction. No one was talking about her being 'responsible' in the type of context you used.
      Moreover what does Melanie's role as a parent while also an addict, or the fact that they aren't good people, have to do with the price of fish? Again, the contention was strictly in relation to grandma's accountability as a parent (with the alleged potential inherent risk, if she were to raise Melanie's son).. and based on the show, grandma isn't a drug addict.

She steals from everyone including her dealers so when her mom drives her to buy crack, she asks her mom to buy it for her (using her mom’s money, of course) because she has burned that dealer. That boy reminds me of me when even after asking where my mother was going I'd follow her. And she would say she's going out for a bit and will be back. Then find myself after midnight still waiting for her. Sometimes she'd be gone almost a week before returning. I was living off bread, ketchup, and cheerios.
    I begged my neighbours for food and I remember an old couple across the hall took me in. The wife made the best lemonade and they were guardian angels to me. I think God sent them when my parents kept abandoning me. The old couple always checked up on me. When I was alone for too long I'd knock on their door and they would provide for me. They were amazing. They're probably not alive anymore but I wish I can thank them.
    I had parents that were addicts. I was taken into foster care and raised by a loving family. Even though I was saved, and never touched drugs and alcohol till this day I'm still suffering for my parents actions and I'm almost 30. Haven't seen my parents in 17 years. I don't even remember what they look like.

    Meth heads are hard to convince. She wasn't ready to be a mom and she resents her son. She's bored by him and that's how the rationalizes creeping out and taking vacations. All her interactions with him are stroking her ego. Then she has the audacity to blame others for doing normal things after she singles herself out for being supposedly special enough to do drugs. Lord. I completely understand her. She is me. Thank God I just smoke weed but she is hurt and just wants to feel loved. It’s possible she also suffers from depression and other mental health issues clearly she’s having a panic attack. I can relate my family is the same way. I pray she heals.

    Look I know she’s not perfect but she is clearly having a meltdown. She says don’t touch, she tells them she is experiencing anxiety and they crowd her into the corner of a bathroom. Then they chase her outside once again crowding and trying for a hug. Any chance that chick has of calming herself went out the window at that point

    Typical addict - blames everyone and everything else for her problems. Its so tragic to see what she's doing to her son and the life long damaging effects her behavior is going to have on him.

    i can see she’s trying too be there for him unlike most addicts that care only about themselves, but she really needs help and she knows that i hope she’s better now

    I've been in her position and I never disrespected my mom or my kid by being a complete drama queen and making his day about her.

    This reminds me of my ex roommate and it’s a blessing that kaleb has his grandma. My ex roommates mom really stepped up for her grandson

    It was very sad, that she didn't even have the energy, or patience to play with him, building his Lego, when he wanted. These times, these Birthday traumas will deeply effect him.
