- Today you’ll learn not just how to use your phone as a webcam for free inside OBS and Streamlabs, without any downloads or installations but I’ll show you 3 different tools, how they work, even from your local park nowhere near your house, and most importantly, how to add ridiculous Snapchat filters with it, because who doesn’t want to look like an old man or a toddler live on the internet.
I genuinely don't know if there is real value to using your phone over a webcam, but I get asked this so often here is the answer.

How To Use A Phone As A Webcam In OBS & Streamlabs For FREE
The three options we’re using today are called VDO Ninja, Epoccam, and Epoccam Pro.
First, let’s cover VDO Ninja, this is an entirely web based tool, and it’s also entirely free.
To use it, you’re going to get your streaming PC, and your phone, then on your streaming PC, open a browser and go to VDO.Ninja, linked in the description.
You’re going to be met with a few options, for today, just click create a room. Type in a super secret room name, and password, then if you want a specific video codec pick that, or leave it on default.
Once that’s done, click join as Director, now you’re met with a few options, it says invite guest, capture group scene, it has guests down here, but we’re going to click Copy link on the invite guest, then message that to ourselves via email, or discord, or just something you can access from your phone.
Then open your phone, go to the message, copy the link, and paste it into your phones browser.
From there, you join room with camera, and can give it permission to use your camera, then click start, and it should appear on the website where guest 1 was.
Now to add this to your stream you’ll go to OBS, or if you’re using a different tool like streamlabs go there, and click add source, add browser source, copy the link from capture group scene into the browser source, set the resolution to 1920 by 1080, click refresh scene when active, control audio via OBS, and click save.

How To Change White Balance Inside Streamlabs OBS or OBS
Essentially different lights produce different color temperatures, you need to set your webcam or any camera to match that white balance so that you get accurate colors.
Normally set my key light up so that it is producing daylight or white color of around 4500 kelvin, and I will set my white balance to something similar in my camera. For now, there are charts you can use to help but essentially the mistake is that people don’t set this manually meaning the webcams and camera often try to adjust it automatically and the camera gets it VERY wrong!
The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

@@ShawnRaythe delay wasn’t VDO Ninja, it was the audio timeline slipping.
VDO Ninja delay is due to internet speed, it has to send the camera to the website and then to OBS. Genuinely surprised how little delay it is after all that.

Reason why i search this up is because i have a google pixel 6, with a Very Good Camera that has 4k60, and its far better then the Webcameras i have lol
any mac users like me you can use continuity camera on your iphone there’s no delays and it doesn’t get too hot but still a little. not all iphones are supported and you can’t use two at once or leave the wifi network but for me it works perfectly and doesn’t need a download
I have both a Mac and a built windows pc. If I could use own3d pro on my Mac computer I totally would love to use my iPhone 14 Pro Max camera as my video overlay. But the packages I purchased via Own3d Pro keep me streaming on my built PC. The starting soon, BRB, Ending stream & Just chatting scenes are well worth using my PC.
Damn, now I just need to know how to setup continuity cam on my iphone and mac. Does it still work with OBS like that?

i have epoccam pro and have been a user for about a yr now using it thru wifi is honestly buns just use a decent lighting cable only plus is when you leave it on auto it will automatically switch

Test it and see :) otherwise use the other option I suppose.

I tried connecting my Iphone 11 to my windows 10 monitor + PC/"box" through Wifi but it didn't work. I tried by connecting my computer with my Iphone though wires and it didn't work either. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a specific app to connect through wifi or a specific cord? I literally cannot continue streaming without setting this up.

Why do we refresh when scene becomes active? When switching from other scenes to this one, it's quite annoying to not have it directly appear, but take a second to load. What happens if we unclick that option? I am using it without it and haven't have any problems yet. I am curious.

i dont see anyone else with this problem but after a short period of time (30-60 seconds) my vodninja feed freezes on obs, not in my phone though, just my pc. is there a fix for this? i cant find a fix anywhere and it’s driving me mad
I tried Epoc Cam and epoc cam pro and on multiple occasions it would randomly disconnect my phone during my stream, leaving me with a big black box on live stating "no webcam connected" or something like that. Would not recommend that one.
I didn't have that issue :) But yes its dodgy sometimes as I explain.

Better off having a PC with OBS installed, and then you can run your console THROUGH a capture card to the PC into OBS, and stream off the PC.
Console streamers can’t do much without that set up.

Will this cause a lot of use in bandwidth ? Thought about doing this but I figured having my phone using wifi while I’m streaming and gaming (via ethernet) would just be another added device on the internet and my internet is already bad where I live. Anyone have issues with this? Or has it been fine
Yep, you’re sending the camera over the internet, so it absolutely adds to it. Hence why my shots don’t look amazing all the time, my internet wifi is fast but unstable.
any app u can go to homescreen and camera will still be working, having ur phone open to that app the entire time seems difficult to do

There’s a setting on vdo ninja that lets you switch to no audio from the camera
Do I understand correctly that this web-app basically sends the data through the web, and back to my pc? Why? I have it connected through usb directly.
Two apps, one is a web browser app that doesn’t need to be connected. The other is the elgato tool which can be either but many can’t get working wirelessly.

You don’t correct white balance in OBS :) you set it on the camera and lights, only adjust in OBS IF it’s adjusting the camera settings and not just editing the image.

69th like, nice. That squirtle squad LED light is cool. I got gifted a Metroid one by partner, but it flickers on camera. Is this something that I need a better camera to resolve, because the anti flicker settings on my webcam don't help. A friend told me a camera where you can control the shutter speed is key. I know this is off topic, but any help would be cool. Keep up the awesome videos man!
I think any camera you use you need ISO, Shutterspeed, and F Stop control. It’s the triangle of exposure.
The LED flickers because it’s hz are syncing with the cameras frames per second. It often happens when you’re shooting a format like PAL, but the light runs a current that is from America NTSC, or it’s just cheap manufacturing.
Changing your shooting format, FPS, and lowering shutterspeed are the solutions to the flicker.

See that’s funny I could never get epoc cam pro to work wired, only would work wirelessly, I tried everyone of my chargers however I didn’t own the official apple charger.
