When I worked at the University they arranged Home-Stay where you boarded with a family - they needed to provide breakfast & dinner only with a single room. Most hosts were empty nesters but you also had a few slum lords. Most were decent people who helped students.

Having lived in a shared bedroom when I was in the RAAF, the problem is trying to sleep when people around you are snoring, it is hard to get a decent nights sleep.

It's all about the jobs these students have to furnish these prices. Trust me...students are getting totally ripped off....especially when from overseas. These prices are mainly for mummy and daddy to carry. If mummy and daddy drive a merc.
