Just become an abusive father
It was obviously the "pet" part that set Mark off.
I have no clue why he said it.
If Omni-Man was more calm about the situation, and even acted the tiniest bit sincere, I feel like he could've convinced Mark.
I would make the first story a reality
I wouldn't want to be anything like him at all
I honestly feel like if Nolan didn’t call Mark‘s mom a “pet” he would’ve been more willing to go along with the plan

In the comics, there's this thing called the invincible war, or as I like to call it, Crisis of Finite Mark's. There's a lot of alternate marks involved. A lot of marks have actually ended up joining the viltrumite empire, so your theory isn't unlikely. But it's funny that the difference between Invincible becoming a loyal Viltrumite is his dad devaluing his mom. Little things, yknow?
@@simonhailom2477 It pretty much tells Mark that his dad doesnt value his family as Mark thought, and the "I had to be sure" statement just agrees with Mark's speculations. Omni-man chosed the word poorly, maybe he tried to tell mark that he loved his mom but he was gonna outlive her for a huge margin, like humans do with pets. Later in the comics it shows that Omni-man loved her as his couple.

Honestly, I was even convinced when he said that Viltrum could provide advanced technology to Earth.

1:42 I think its important for lots of people to note that Omni-Man wasn't 100% lying here. He meant it, he found love and peace with Debbie and Mark. And its this deep, genuine value in lifeforms other than Viltrumites that begins to shake his resolve to the Viltrum empire later in the series.
He also said Viltrumites help around the universe. They really do, but only to help reproduce and grow their empire. Other than that and them being ruthless, he told Mark 45% of the truth.
I'd like to think that adds more to all the conflict. Internal and external.

I think he just meant "sole protector" as in he was the only Viltrumite sent to Earth

I like how Viltrum is shown bright in the fake story Omni-Man tells, but its dark when he speaks the truth about it.

So that way both Mark and Debbie won't know the true dark history of viltrum until episode 8, It was quite screwed up when Omni man was trying to make a point about civilization on earth, not to mention calling Debbie a pet which is pure screwed up
1:43 that was actually genuine he didn't want mark to get powers because he was genuinely happy being a family man and having real friends who weren't afraid of him
Also that Nolan was hoping Mark didn’t get powers so that he could have a chance at outliving both him and Debbie before he has to conquer earth for the viltrum empire. Once Mark got his powers Nolan knew the chance for that was gone
I think Omni man was being truthful when he said he was stressed cause Mark has his powers now. He knew this meant he needed push forward with the plan and turn his back on the planet he grew to love.

Nolan: i do love you & your mother it pains me deeply to know that some day all i'll have left to remember her by is you mark i see your mother's face every time i look at you every time you smile i feel like i want to break down from the inside to know that she's going to be gone from our lives which is not even a blink of an eye in our life span, i wish i could share some of our viltrumite DNA but it's just going to be a curse for her & it's already chaotic enough seeing your friends & family pass away she's been on this planet longer than i have and i wouldn't want her to carry those burdens like i have & unfortunately you will some day..
