- In May of 2021, we embarked on a bike tour across the state of Missouri. We combined the Rock Island Spur out of Kansas City and the Katy Trail to cross the whole state. It was a memorable adventure.

Don't let anyone else define what a "real cyclist" is. You guys are real and your review is delightful.
I have been cycling since 1972, racing, touring, centuries, ERs, 1 broken collar bone, 1 concussion and a broken ankle. Not bad for fifty years. I am a cyclist and so are you!
Awesome video! Well, done! Great that your wife decided to do it too!
Nice Video! I like how you made your travels interesting.
Fun people. (Mostly) fun ride. Congratz on the accomplishment!
I love the Katy ❤
Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the video. May have to try this one.
You totally should. Just go do it. Write a date on your calendar and make it happen.
Thanks for sharing your adventure. Well done.
You’re gonna be fine and you’re gonna do just fine
Nice! My wife and I bikepacked on the Katy Trail also in May of 2021! We didn't finish the entire length so we are planning to go back again this May. We crossed the creek by the bridge just as you guys did - totally worth not doing the road detour! Also, we had a pretty rough day of rain, mud and generally cold weather also.
Maybe we crossed paths. Cheers!
Lmbo Rachel you’re gonna be fun in this video
This is awesome!
That is very cool, lots of good photos / video
Congratulations, you guys toughed it out, keep it up.
That portapotty is at the edge of boonville, it's one of the access points
Well done video. I'm sure it was tempting to brag and showoff each little town along the way but you kept it to riding a bicycle :)
To be honest, most of the towns were in very bad shape. I hope cycling can bring tourism dollars to those impoverished communities.
Great job!! What a great wife!! She did it with and excellent attitude!!
What did you pack?
you could have taken the AMTRAK Riverrunner STL to KC with your bikes.
Man, love your videos! Editing is great too! What’s a great budget friendly gravel bike under $700 for me to start doing rides like this and the silver comet?
Glad you enjoy the vids! A used Trek Checkpoint or Specialized Diverge would probably be the best bet. For $700 I'd rather have a used high quality bike than a brand new cheap bike. That said, the best bike is the one you have. There's a saying that goes "you run what you brung," so don't let the quest for a perfect bike stop you from finding adventure.
Hate to tell you this, but the trail ends at Machens. You need to come back.
Guess I gotta come back and do it again. It's on my list... I kinda want to see how fast it can be ridden. I think the FKT is something like 12 hours.
You can’t rehydrate this by drinking water your body get rid of it over a long period time and that’s how you get it back over a long period of time. Can I stay hydrated 10 ounces an hour at least
Make sure to check out phillys pizza in marthasville mo
So I hope you guys take a bicycle mechanic class yeah they say you can go to park tools they have online classes that you can take and you can work on your bike right there in the living room while you’re watching the class and you can watch it over and over and over and over or you can just do the short version of it and go to CZcams and see how to fix whatever it is a problem is
I've learned a lot about how to take care of a bike since we made this video. CZcams has definitely helped. Thanks for watching.
So u ride the trail how do u get back to ur starting point
Great video guys really enjoyed watching. Did you have any flats on your trip?
Not a one. But, I had both our bikes setup tubeless. Definitely the way to go.
LOVE IT!. I am planning on an October ride very similar to you guys. A little more camping and solo. Taking Amtrak to Lee's Summit. I assume you rode from there to drop off the rental? If you could change one thing, what would it be? Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! We had originally planned on taking the Amtrak also, but we weren't able. There are only so many bike slots on the train, so book early, like now if you want a spot. I rode from the Car rental place to the Rock Island trailhead. I wouldn't change a thing, we had a great ride. DEFINITELY go tubeless if you can. Neither of us had a flat in 300 miles.
@@KyleTheCyclist Yea. Amtrak was the first thing I booked.
You still got 30 more miles lol
Great video.. what was the location where you parked your truck ?

Wasn’t there a bike shop in town? You could’ve gone to to get it fixed
If you've never been, well.... there's not much of anything in most of these towns. The best opportunity we had was in Jefferson City, and that's where we were able to get repairs.
Did you have much headwind going west to east?
Not really. The weather was mostly great... except for the rain we had on the one day.
