    In México you will see almost everybody use wraps made with elastic gauze (designed for médical use not boxing, so they dont have velcro ) its pretty cheap and selled in all drug stores, one roll its about 10 pesos (50 cents of dollar)can last 1 or 2 months washing it by hand.

    Herringbone fabric handwraps has been working for me soooo good lately. Is not for fragile skin, though. I've been trying a lot of brands, I'd say Twins are my fav. For some light work, handwraps and knuckle pads. Gel gloves wont last too much in my experience. Great explanation and review as always, Carlo!

    Rival sells a really good "quick wrap" padding similar to the winning (except a dense foam, not gel). I like them a lot because of the shape/coverage they provide.

  • @Twicedoodle

    I was planning on getting quick wraps, I like how your demo displayed how loose the wrist support was with them. Definitely gonna stick with the Mexican Wraps and maybe try adding gel for the knuckles.

    • @csquaredboxing
      @csquaredboxing  Před 4 lety +7

      Yeah the quick wraps are convenient for light work, the wrist support sucks, so any kind of heavy training I would go with standard wraps.

    • @danielhenry4365
      @danielhenry4365 Před 4 lety +6

      Yeah almost all "quick wrap" models are lacking in wrist support.
      You could add some 108" (women/child size) wraps over the quickwraps and focus most of it on the wrists/thumb.

    • @patrickhart2483
      @patrickhart2483 Před 4 lety +1

      It’s not a quick-wrap, but the Rival gel wraps are gel gloves with 200’’ wraps attached. Only problem I had was that it was a little bulky so it was harder to get my gloves on, but they’re fantastic otherwise lol

      @@lonewolflifestyle7141 just learn how to wrap your hands correctly. Those handwraps aren’t worth the price tag at all. I see how they can be useful for beginners, but once you learn how to throw punches correctly and learn how to wrap your hands there’s really no point in spending $90 for special handwraps. Also hand protection is more about the boxing gloves you’re using and less about the handwraps (once you learn how to properly wrap.) Also if you plan on competing definitely use regular handwraps or gauze, because the difference in feel from special wraps like that and the gauze you have to use when competing can definitely throw you off, and effect how your punches feel.

    I use 2x mexican style on each hand. The first one does the job of those 100 bucks wraps and gel. The second one cements everything and does the thumb protection. Feels like a cast, you just need to find the right tension as you do not want to cut circulation.

    Have you ever used boxraw wraps? I recently got a pair. Very light, soft and thin. The velcro part is reinforced with rubber material and they stretch just enough because a lot of those traditional ones are way too stretchy to my liking. They sometimes cut circulation so you gotta adjust. Boxraws are $13 plus shipping so maybe its worth it to get something else besides the wraps. Their Hugler rubber suit looks cool.

    I'd love your opinion on if there is a wrap or even a way to wrap my wrist for extra support? I have a wrist injury that will need surgery, but until then, a good wrap has taken away any pain I've had while hitting a 70lb bag full power. The best way to add wrist support is to use tape to tape off your wrist prior to putting on the wrap. This will make it more secure and give it a cast like feel.

  • @fs2themax

    One tip I have for people is to never buy the red colored wraps. They will bleed dye forever. I like 180 inch Mexican style wraps. Get them in a color like black or white. Wash after every wear using a mesh laundry delicates bag.
    And also, some guys stuff so much material into their wraps that they can’t make a tight fist. If you do that, you risk injuring your hands as well. I’ve seen some guys like recommend sticking grips bars and sponges into the wraps...wtf? You’re wearing a glove on your hand on top of the wraps. There is no reason to be stuffing your wraps with all that extra stuff.

    • @csquaredboxing
      @csquaredboxing  Před 4 lety

      Excellent advice and yes too much material is a no-no. That’s why I don’t like the wrapping techniques that end up putting a bunch of the wrap on the palm side of the hand, just bad form and you can’t properly roll your fingers to make a tight fist.
