CH 47D Chinook Helicopter Water Bombers

- A pair of civilian CH-47D Chinook helicopters. One flown by Billings Flying Service LLC of Billings MT (N401AJ) and the other flown by Heligroup Fire LLC of Missoula MT (N948CH) fight the Bighorn Fire in the Catalina Mountains just north of Tucson Arizona on June 11, 2020.
These and the hueys have such a distinctive sound i can recognize them both before i even see them.
I like that sound

Foxxray, Me too, I love that big deep popping sound of the rotor blades! They say you can really feel it thumping your chest and heart!
A great chopper..But it's lifting a bucket that could be hauled by a Jetranger..They could put internal tanks on it and make better use off it.
Ain’t no jet ranger made that’s lifting that bucket, my friend
@@tggonzales7971 OK. That was only a statement to basicly say big chopper... on a bucket. Throw a Huey on it. That Chinook dwarfs the bucket. As I said Internal tanks could be fitted. Make proper use off its cargo bay.
@@265justyBoth Chinook companies now have internal tanks. They will still max out at around 2600 gallons, and sometimes the USFS doesn’t want a tanked ACFT.

That big ass helicopter can only carry that little bucket not worth the cost to run it
what are you talking about the bucket is at least 6ft tall and some buckets for the Chinook can hold up to 2600 gallons of water.
Think of it this way. A smaller helocopter would be near its limits trying to haul that bucket around. This one can haul it around faster and easier. Making more trips in less time.
That bucket is half the size of that helicopter when full of water.
I prefer annoying music over the sound of those blades pounding the air into submission.
