Last night I got lucky enough to go catch a military chinook landing for the night after being at a wildfire fire off and on all day.

Nice video, Also, Those Chinooks are not MH-47's, Those are CH-47D (Delta) models. The MH-47 has a refueling pipe on the front and is not used for firefighting. Billings has CH-47D's and Sikorsky UH-60A Blackhawks.

I think because they knew there was a crowd of people watching and they wanted to give a show. Sometimes the pilots would wave to the onlookers.
