    Preciate video I went from a 275$ part and maybe 2-4 hours shop labor , to buying 2 bearings at 13$ and assembling this back together , hardest part was getting bearings out 👍🏽👍🏽

    That part you discarded gose underneath on the bottom of the spindle befor you put the shaft through the spindle to protect the bearing on the bottom.

    That dustcover that you discarded because you did not know where it went, I would consider pretty important.

    I just bought a set of 10 replacement bearings for my Z726 after a bearing failure (not structural failure, just noisy) after only 100 hours of use. I was disappointed to see the original bearings I removed were stamped "China". I bought the XiKe 10 Pcs 6206-2RS bearing from Amazon and seem to be a perfect fit. At less than $2.50 per bearing, I took the chance of replacing the original bearings that had metal seals to a bearing with rubber seals. I really don't see the need for a metal seal anyway. Time will tell how these perform.

      Excellent replacement find! I took possession of the z726 with 1 bad bearing. Dealer had it next day at 40 CAD per bearing but it too said china on it. Let me know how the aftermarket ones work out for you!

      @@McGo101 There are many replacement bearings out there, this is just the one I chose. If it's a 6206 bearing it should fit. The rest of the part number basically describes how the bearing is constructed, i.e. metal seal, plastic seal, etc. I noticed they seem to have similar load and speed ratings also.

      @McGo101  Před 5 lety +1

      ok that is great thanks for the info. I will likely try one of those out next time one wears out. I have also been looking for aftermarket parts for this z726 ie belts but i am not having any luck. If you happen to find anything else aftermarket for our machines please feel free to let me know! thanks Donald Christie!

      The rubber seals will let you remove them and make sure the bearings are properly greased before you install. Sometimes the ‘sealed’ bearings don’t have enough grease and wear out prematurely.

    When changing the blades, do you have to hold tension on the blade itself? I tried to hold it on the spindle nut and it just backed off. They aren't revers threaded are they?

    • @McGo101
      @McGo101  Před 3 lety +1

      Yea I hold on to the blade from underneath just to break it loose on my machine.

    U said u took the one pulley off first, is there a trick to it as I am having trouble removing the pulley u removed to help with belt tension

    • @McGo101
      @McGo101  Před 3 lety

      hmm this video is from a while ago, i dont remember their being much of a trick, just some of the bolts being underneath the deck for the pulley spindles.

    • @donaldchristie3534
      @donaldchristie3534 Před rokem +1

      FYI - there is a square hole in the flat rod pointing forward off the belt tensioner arm that you can fit a 1/2" socket wrench into. Swing the wrench to the right and by doing this, you can take the tension off the belt and remove it. No need to remove another pulley.

  • @justinthomison8152
    @justinthomison8152 Před 4 lety

    Was there play in the spindle after you took the belt off? Or how did you isolate that spindle in general?
    I was mowing yesterday and it felt stiff and was bogging easily and after a bounce over a root it spun up to a speed I havent yet heard. Im wondering if a bearing broke.

    • @McGo101
      @McGo101  Před 4 lety

      hey i actually had play on the center blade when i purchased it. didnt relize until i took it apart that there were 2 bearings on each spindle and that the lower one had blown apart. It did make a rough noise when cutting that would come and go. fixed it right away of course.

    Why does everybody always show the easiest spindle to work on.

  • @stepside2839
    @stepside2839 Před 2 lety +1

    Probably the former owner did not keep the blades balanced,
    thus causing premature spindle bearing wear.

    • @McGo101
      @McGo101  Před 2 lety +1

      Yup when i got her the bearing was toast and yep the blades were well worn out. New blades and bearing and she has been great since!

      @@McGo101 I purchased a $100 blade balancer & an expensive sharpener.
      Hopefully I can avoid a bearing replacement. These non-greasable spindle bearings are planned obsolescence

      I have always balanced my blades and still had failures. I am now at 300 hours on my Z726 and have replaced both bearings in two of the spindles. The third spindle is now roaring and needs replacement. Its sad Kubota has cheaped out on such an important wear item.
