I'm 71 and have been going to Vegas in July since college. My parents, who just died, lived there for their final 20 years. I've seen 120 degrees (and higher) there many times, especially in the 1980's. The world's highest temperature of 134.1 degrees F was set in furnace Creek (Death Valley) on July 10th, 1913.

@@twincherry4958 Nah...I believe him. I've had the official temperature announced (always recorded at the airport) only to discover my backyard recorded a much higher temperature...much! This discrepancy happens every summer. So...depends where you're working. I worked outside loading baggage on a minibus when I first came to LV decades ago. Sometimes the heat radiating off the asphalt literally took my breath away. I couldn't breathe for a moment. So hot. My thermometer out front of my house stands on cement and routinely registers now in the 120+° range while getting full sun all morning until early afternoon.

It was123 degrees on East Carey around 4 years ago, as reported on the Weather Underground channel.🥵
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and well recall the epic heat wave of 1980 in which the temperature exceeded 100 degrees 69 days that summer, with a string of 42 days,
(June 23 through August 3), when it exceeded 100 degrees, the hottest days being three consecutive 113 degree days, June 26, 27 and 28.
During the 120 degree here July 7, the humidity was only 2%, the lowest that I have ever noticed. But in Dallas during the 1980 heat wave the humidity was MUCH HIGHER, so the heat index would have made it feel like it was at least in the mid 120's.♨️🥵♨️
I moved to Las Vegas in the summer of 1995.
After experiencing the 1980 heat wave that inspired the manufacturing and sales of T-shirts that read:
"I SURVIVED THE HISTORIC DALLAS. TEXAS HEAT WAVE OF 1980!",
I often tell locals that "I MOVED TO LAS VEGAS TO
    COOL OFF!"😁🤠

Let me clarify something for everyone. When you use an AC unit it forces the hot air out and replaces it with cold air, the hot air is expelled outside. If everyone is doing that there must be a lot of hot air outside more than what would normally be there. So it gets hotter and we cool off and it keeps getting hotter. Is there anyone else that sees the irony in that?
