US Man Still Detained After Mistakenly Taking Bullets to Turks and Caicos

  • Turks and Caicos is turning into a prison for two Americans. Ryan Watson and Bryan Hagerich never knew each other. However, they were both arrested in separate cases at the airport as they were returning home from their family vacations. Both men had forgotten they had ammunition in their carry-on luggage. Under Turks and Caicos law, a passenger trying to board a plane with a gun or ammunition is subject to a mandatory 12 years in jail. Inside Edition’s Les Trent has more.

You would have to read a library full of books every time you travel to a foreign country. In the USA, you should contact the State Department or Ministry of Foreign Affairs about foreign travel laws for the country you want to travel to. I had a friend who travelled to Vietnam and got in a lot of trouble for soft-core pornography on his cellphone. A couple of days in jail and about $1,000 in fines made him learn his lesson.

In law, ignorantia juris non excusat (Latin for "ignorance of the law excuses not"), or ignorantia legis neminem excusat ("ignorance of law excuses no one"), is a legal principle holding that a person who is unaware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law merely by being unaware of its content. You're going to jail 😂 ..

This is why I always empty my bags completely before packing. Some countries and even some US states have absurd laws. I bet they did too.
Three US citizens arrested after a new law go into effect? Who only carries a couple of rounds when they go hunting? US TSA didn't find the rounds? No! TSA would of found the bullets flying out of the US. They have very good machines to detect such things. Sounds far fetched doesn't it.
Always keep your bags locked and observe them closely.
