This girl has likely been living the majority of her life paralyzed. Day in, day out, the sad reality of her being unable to move is constantly fighting whatever urge she has to scratch her face or to stretch her legs. Hell, even seeing her mother walk around will seem like a tease at times, almost as if her mom is rubbing the fact that her limbs work in her face.
Of course, if she can get un-paralyzed, then she should do it. But is that on her mind? No. What's on her mind is "I will never move again" and "I hope anon likes me even though I'm paralyzed."
So what are you going to say to her?

And lots of times...they don't have many volunteers, so they'll take who they can get. I don't know what program this was through, or if there's one specifically for that award, but I work with habitat for humanity on occasion and we work with a couple other charity organizations. Food pantries mostly, and a few meal services for older people who struggle but don't want to be in a retirement home. Like 65% of workers are on court-ordered community service. The average age of a habitat volunteer is 58 when we don't count court ordered volunteers and I bring that down quite a few years being just now nineteen. For a paralyzed girl? Your choices are an old person who may or may not be up to do any physical labor and mostly just directs, a dude in his twenties who was speeding on his motorcycle or is a petty thief or something, or someone like me. Being closer to her age, I'm probably more relatable in conversation and I'm physically fit enough to help her mom around the house more than an older person may be. If there were a girl volunteering that would be optimal but that isn't always the case.

Kinda reminds me of that one romantic (but not sure, it was comedy) bout that girl who's paralysed. The guy saved the girl when her grandmother lost control of her wheelchair when they basically went down the hill. The guy saved her, and the grandmother offered him to help to take care of the girl, even though the girl didn't like him (I didn't remember why). I think it is a good answer. Someone paralyzed is probably really self aware about their state and in a situation like this probably feel like they're not good enough to be the other person's couple or that the other person is settling with them instead of going for someone "normal". This would've been sweet if it wasn't a lie. DofE doesn't do house calls. They literally tell everyone that during orientation "We don't go to people's homes". Some years ago, I actually asked my Duke advisor if I could earn volunteer hours from taking care of a girl in my church, who had Asperger's, and she told me absolutely not. They would get sued if they allowed that.
DofE is like KCI (Key club International). We do charity events, children's hospital visits, marathons, retirement home visits, homeless shelter events, bake sales, dog walks, travelling events, feasts, etc. So this was either something he did outside of DofE, or it didn't happen. In order to legally visit disabled people's homes and take care of them, even if they live in a government home, you have to be a Certified Home Health Aide, and you have to be 18/older to register for that. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Good post. Yeah, I guess if an org let an underage boy make house calls to a disabled underage girl, they could get sued out of existence. It won't always end up this romantic.
Also, it's highly unlikely for someone to be a 10/10 if they lie on the bed watching tv all day and if they've "never been outside for a prolonged period of time." A human body that practically never moves and that practically never gets sunlight simply won't look very healthy and therefore won't look like a 10/10 super hot body.
