  • How to prevent the borescope from getting caught in between the valve and seat. Sorry for the background noise, it’s cold here and the waste oil heater and air compressor are running.

Very informative video and narrative. Probably saved my borescope. Never thought of peaking at the valve guide, and might have lost the scope because of lifter bleed-down. Thank you, and keep it up!

Hi Dave, Thank you for the effort that you put into making these video tutorials. I for one have found them most informative.
I have just taken delivery of my VA-400 Vividia AbleScope and am in the process of learning how to manipulate it to take the desired pictures.
Do you have any links, CZcams or others, that you would be willing to share, showing:-
    1. The Rope Trick to hold the valve in place whilst removing the collets and springs.
    2. The in place cylinder valve guide lapping/reseating process and
    3. The valve guide reaming process to remove lead build-up without the removal of the cylinder to eliminate Sticky Valve Morning Sickness. My understanding is that to do this the valve has to be released fully into the cylinder, so I'm wondering:-
    (a) do you use a jig to initially align the reamer to keep it square with the valve guide and
    (b) about the techniques that you use to grab and reinsert the valve back into the guide.
Is there a difference in approach between Continental and Lycoming engines?
    Best wishes Danny.

Hi Dave, do you have a link to the article that you referred to by Joe Fischetti. I searched the American Bonanza Website and couldn't find it. - Danny
