yet again, not talking about the other allegations, which include rape, corroborated by different sources, as published by The Stranger on Feb 28th 2023. staying silent on that comes off like an admission of guilt. it does not sound like you have learned a lot, it sounds like you bid your time for a comeback like Louie CK and every other piece of shit in this business. and you realised your fuckboy days were over so you settled down, congrats. still an alleged rapist.

As someone who has almost had this happen to me, twice. The best advice I can give you is to call their bluff and pretend like you’re getting police involved. Both times I had started getting texts from friends saying “so and so is saying such and such”, so I immediately texted them that I’ve already got the cops at my house and am giving them my phone. Both times I was worried they’d just not say anything, but they weren’t very bright. Both times the girls replied flipping out, called me crazy and weird, which really bit them in the ass because no one that was actually abused would get angry and upset when their abuser says they’re turning themselves into the cops. Liars will though.
One of the girls replied to a post I made that contained a screenshot of how they reacted, even had the audacity to try and play the victim AGAIN, doubling down saying “my abuser knows I’m terrified of cops”, which got something like 62 laughing reactions, and still to this day her Facebook sits dormant. She was real active before all that though. Both times were from girls who I had hooked up with only once, only to lose interest in them because they sucked at being a real human and had like zero social skills.
Also, for obvious reasons, this plan doesn’t work if you’re an actual POS scum bag that knows for certain that loads of people have evidence of scumbag behavior. In which case, instead of pretending to call the cops, just straight up call them and turn yourself in loser.

But my understanding is the more things you put in writing, or just say if a cop is listening, the more oppurtunities the lawyers have to twist you up. They can find inconsistencies, they can make you look like a liar, and it makes it harder for YOUR lawyer later on because you're removing potential defenses from their quiver every time you open your mouth. If you say something like "I DIDNT DO [insernt thing]!" in a text you don't think amounts to anything, 12 months later in court your lawyer can no longer make the argument that you did actually do [insert thing] if it somehow helps your case. At the time of the allegations coming out, as an avid Channel 5 fan and Patreon supporter I was pretty shocked to hear the allegations. I was excited to see his new stuff after his time off, But I’d admit I was a-bit unsure how to feel given all that came out and what we knew at the time.
Hearing Andrew here just blew my mind. He brings the same level-headed commitment to truth and critical understanding to even his OWN darkest times, without trying to victim blame, or be angry and bitter about it. Although it seems very obvious this was in part a coordinated hit job by greedy lawyers, he still tries to show what HE can do better, rather than just poke fingers and be bitter.
Whether you like or dislike him, going through what he did on that scale of popularity and on the cuff of “making it big”, It would be easy to understand why someone would simply hate the world at that point. Yeah I guess Im making abit of a dick-riding statement, and perhaps im bias as I have been watching and supporting him since the All Gas No Brakes days, but I respect the shit out of him for actually trying to make something positive out of such a horrible situation.
In a digital space of clearly drawn lines, Im glad we still have creators who are above all honest, but also don’t turn their inherent grief into more pain and project it. I only hope that I can remain so level-headed going through such an ordeal at those heights.

This is probably one of the best shows of accountability you can ask for. He knows he was in the wrong and has seemingly taken the steps to address it. Wise stuff right here. I wish I would have known this much earlier in life. I've dated women with traumatized childhoods who had absolutely no qualms with massively screwing me over. The hardest thing with trauma is understanding you are more able to hurt others now that you have been hurt, and to basically understand that the trauma gives you more responsibility to not repeat it. Often trauma is used as an excuse when in reality is a weapon and burden. You are hurt, damaged goods, and now have the ability and instability to hurt others as you repeat trauma cycles. So it might be better to stay away from people with unresolved trauma.

People need to take accountability for their words and actions. If you give consent and have sex with someone you don't get to change your mind afterwards about it. People make mistakes all the time and have regrets. But that should not be the basis for ruining someone's reputation and extorting money from them. Own up to your mistakes, learn a lesson and be more careful next time. On the other hand, it is a lesson to be more careful about who you choose to have sex with too. Usually a good idea to get to know the person first. You don't know if they have mental illness or other circumstances that would cause problems for you later.

The fact is that at least from his claim this hurt of someone was done unwittingly, due to him not being aware of her trauma. The implicit notion here because he is male and horny and because she has encountered abuse, that he is the culprit, when it seems to be some gray area of him genuinely not knowing her story and her not being able to keep boundaries. He made it clear that he would have taken her trauma into account would he have known.
The pitchforks in our zeitgeist just show the vitriol and complete lack of regard for ruining of lives in current generation of men for whatever past sins, perceived or actual. The problem is that many with less of a social support network than Andrew would take much longer to recover as they rightfully perceive injustice for being ostracized on behest of someone's word.
Perhaps that can be addressed by some consent form and video recording that the current guardians of the zeitgeist believe will improve foreplay or maybe we can all learn to take some responsibility for our actions like Andrew, but that would mean this woman would have to acknowledge the money grubbing attempt to collect on his success 2 years after forgiving for a faux pa that he had little knowledge of. Seems to be that those with a conscience are the ones that pay for mistakes of those that don't care and are ostracized with many choosing to kill themselves or worse. I don't have much sympathy for her after trying to collect. This is blatant exploitation and we all know it.

I am in no place to forgive him or whatever, but he described the situation with the main person for a while in this clip and also mentioned the others bringing up similar concerns was an indication that he needed to change, which according to him, he addressed in therapy and rehabilitation. I don't see him walking anything back but once again, no apology will appease everyone. The only thing he can do is set an example moving forward and make sure he promotes healthy behaviors. I really hope this was as sincere as it came across, Andrew. I was a massive fan of your work via Hasanabi, and I consider you to be one of the greatest journalists of our generation. It was devastating to all your supporters when the allegations surfaced, although of course it was nothing in comparison to the pain felt by you and your victims.
Andrew's message to men was the most important part of this video. 1/5 women are sexually assaulted in their lifetimes, so if you are hooking up with people you will absolutely come across people with traumatic backgrounds.
Informed Consent is so important, and it is absolutely not a vibe killer to take a second to ask "hey, I just wanted to check in and ask if there's any boundries or triggers I should avoid?", "What do you like/do you like that?" "I want to be the best possible partner for you - assuming you're still down for this?" "Remember we can take a break anytime, just say the word." Honestly, showing care and empathy by checking in like this is such a rare trait in men that it's immensely attractive.
A lot of people calling this girl money-grubbing - I don't discount the possiblity... but I wanted to share something from a survivor's perspective who has found herself in a similar situation.
My abusive/sexually assaulting ex started to become prominent in circles we shared after years of no contact, including being covered in national media. I cannot describe the amount of trauma, pain and suffering that dug up - and yes, bitterness comes into the mix. Why do THEY get to carry on, be beloved and successful while my life has fallen to pieces as a direct result of the trauma inflicted on me?
I did not 'cancel' this person, but when other allegations of abuse surfaced I anonymously gave my own account. This person was "cancelled", or in grown up terms, faced consequences. I could continue my life with my friends and colleagues without feeling horrendously unsafe that they might show up in my life. They moved on with their life mostly unharmed, but less in the public eye. But I completely understand the feeling of wanting to do something vengeful. In a different situation, or if I was in a less stable stage of my life I might have given into the rage - especially if I had supportive friends egging me on and other victims affirming me and my experience.
Regardless... it sounds like Andrew has addressed his substance abuse problems and learned an extremely important lesson about power dynamics and trauma. I am a believer in restorative justice. I have the instinct that comes from being a survivor to disbelieve a cis white man. But to me, Andrew has stuck by his ideals. I really was expecting him to go down the cancel culture grift route in some form or another - so it is heartening for me to see his ideals carried him through this experience. Hurt people hurt people. Best of luck to everyone involved for their future.

Lex’s dark/defensive side. You can see him pushing to make Andrew into a victim as much as possible. Armchair analysis says this is Lex’s guilty conscience or shame complex looking to vicariously defend itself by defending Andrew. “Thank you for taking accountability… BUT..”
It’s when Lex’s dispassionate personality goes from a Spock-like intelligent curiosity to a emotionally disconnected (traumatized) person wanting to feel safe by creating rhetorical defenses.
The other big evidence of this was in his interview with the psychologist from the Johnny Depp case. They were discussing whether it’s good to tell your partner that you cheated on them. Lex had this take that “loyalty should come before honesty”. This is a pathological ideology used to justify unethical dishonesty. It’s a false dichotomy to place loyalty and honesty as separate traits of a relationship. But when you have a deep shame complex, you never want to feel judged, and so it’s better to keep things in the dark.
I notice that people with this disposition typically gravitate toward religion down the road, realizing that an absolute doctrine (of god’s forgiveness, or spiritual identity, or moral status) is the best defense against pathological shame. Many are intellectuals will move to Catholicism or Orthodox Christianity because they like all those rituals and symbols which reaffirm their spiritual status and create associations with “saints” (because the dream for them is to be a saint - an unassailably “clean” person). Others like Sam Harris create secular philosophies which still appeal to religious thinking (Harris’s “worst possibly suffering for everyone” concept, i.e. Hell).
You would hope that these otherwise good people might simply have their narcissism treated, but that typically doesn’t happen unless something devastating motivates them to go on a deep inner journey. Otherwise, they will continue to proceed with a shame-fueled narcissism, especially is it seems to be working well for them (as it has with Andrew and Lex).
I know someone who dated Andrew briefly and said they were a big time narcissist, that they would have a tantrum when they didn’t get what they want, we’re constantly rude to restaurant and hotel staff.
But then they’re good at convincing themselves that they’re not a problem, or that they’re “really trying to change”, or that they’re the victim or persecution.
The rest of will just have to learn to create healthy boundaries where we have compassion and love for these people, but also create boundaries that protect us from suffering/damage when we end up in their psycho-emotional blindspots.

Thing about stories is that there are always three sides to it: her side, his side, and the truth. I believe many of us have had bad missteps as single people meeting other people. It happens. That’s what being young and dumb is all about in the beginning. Those missteps are what give you the experience to make better choices down the line as long as you recognize it as your opportunity to grow. Past trauma is always tricky but there in lies the point: being honest with all of it and being honest with the person you’re spending time with about it. Know what you expect out of the first date and don’t deviate from that when it comes to intimacy. No one should feel pressured but no one with a healthful and happy mindset who genuinely wants to be protective of their self would allow pressure to influence the decision period. This is why it’s important to know what you expect out of the first date.

Probably the best response I've seen to allegations like this. He was pretty honest. He admitted a PR firm "tried to make him look remorseful" with their TMZ statement. Nobody in this situation has really revealed what happens behind the scenes. They always just lie and do damage control. The lesson here which I hope young people learn one of these days is that hooking up with people you don't know is just a bad idea. It causes so many problems. Often for you yourself, not just others. You can hookup with someone at a party and then find out later they are a horrible person, or they have a partner they didn't mention who's after you now, or the person you hooked up with has been hooking up with a lot of people after being molested because their brain is messed up from it. Get to know people for at least a few months before sleeping with them. You don't want to make someone feel pressured like the girl in Andrews situation, or feel gross because you slept with someone who you find out is a really bad human being, or get taken advantage of by a charming stranger. Wait it out. Its the only safe way.

so I am confused ... if he did not have sex with her and all this was consensual what mental trauma did this person go through? To me, it looks like people who partied with him could not take it and wanted a check ...

Yeah it makes no sense if he didn't have "sex" with her. Why would she be so traumatized and why would Andrew feel guilty for how he made her feel? Just confusing all around.

She gave him a BJ at her apartment. According to her, she felt pressured to do it, and she said that he was "whiny" and "pushy" about.
So no, they never technically had sex, but she did consent to a sexual act, and then later regretted it.
In all honesty, he probably shouldn't have been pushy (as he has admitted), and she also seems really mentally unstable.

it's tough being famous this day and age knowing you were a piece of shit when you were younger. something or someone will definitely come out, instead of handling it privately then it's easier to make a public post. People are ready to end someones career even if they've been working towards a better life and trying to live a better toxic free life. What's life worth if you aren't allowed to have character arcs?
