  • In this video we see a very common issue when installing a shift kit or new linear solenoids, that once installed you still have driveability issues.

    Did rebuild my valvebody this weekend with transgos repair kit.
    Not so difficult, but time wasting to clean everything up with brake cleaner and then boil of the seal that is bonded.
    Took me 7hours to check EVERYTHING in my valvebody.
    Installation and teardown, quite easy. Just a notice to everyone.
    MAKE SURE THE CONNECTIONS CLICK when installing back.
    Now my Volvo S60 T5 shifts like a new car. =)
    My symptoms were Delay bang P->D
    Delay shift 2->3nd gear

    Hey Hiram, just to let you know. Thanks for your help. I was able to repair my wife's 6T30 on a 2012 Sonic. The wavy like you said, broke and the snap ring broke in a couple of areas causing damage to the drum. I bought a new drum--I should have purchased the loaded one. It was a challenge since I didn't have any special tools for the pistons. I was able to use some ingenuity. I transferred the parts from the old drum to the new one. So far I have put close to 400 miles and she's running fine. I wished that GM would have recalled these transmissions since there are so many of them with this problem. Anyway, just wanted to say a BIG thank you for guiding me to the problem.

    hola hiram, recién reconstruí la aw 55-50 de mi captiva 2007 (gm), resulta pues que tenia quemados los discos que van en la tapa trasera junto con el b5,también tenia problemas con mis solenoides de control(slu,slt,sls) y los cambie por unos rostra, ahora el gran detalle: gradué los selenoides a 4.9 mm de altura. medidos desde el manifold hasta la punta del tornillo de ajuste. instale todo el cablea de acuerdo a el manual de reparación(soy ing mecanico, y tecnologo automotriz)... ahora mi gran dilema: al encender el vehiculo, el vehiculo no tiene casi fuerza para ir hacia delante y hace un ruido de bum cuando pongo retroceso, tiene mas potencia al hacer retroceso que ir hacia adelante. reviso por si hay fault codes y no hay ninguno. en idle el line presure control solenoid tiene 4.06 psi. que me recomiendas?. tienes alguna forma de contactarte via e-mail o telefono?gracias.mi correo es miguelscorza@gmail.com. many thanks mate

    Hello Hiram
    I have a 2002 Volvo S60 D5 with this gear box, and I have an issue where it shifts very hard from 2 to 3. I think, as well that when I start, the car tends to be very very slow, sluggish would call it. They have been looking at the car in a garage and they say that everything is ok when they get the machine and adjust it, but as soon as they simulate low voltage - removing the battery - that all goes to hell, and they have the problem again. Any idea where the problem would be?? Have spent more than a month in that garage plus money.... Thanks a lot

    the problem is the downshift from 3 to 2, it delays for about 3 sec. before slams in to 2 if I don't go easy on the trottle.

    Have you ever rebuilt Aisin Warner TF80SC transmission and or valve body? I am tring to diagnose my hard shifting. It it random at times. A lot of stop and go traffic will make it act up. It will lag when shifting from 1-3 and same when down shifting. It clunks into gear hard and shakes the car when going into reverse. I will have the car stopped before I change directions. It is in a 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero. The transmission is common in Volvo's and Mini Cooper's. Maybe more. Love you videos.

    Can you explain the terms harsh, bump, flare? They are found in the guides for tuning the valve body solenoids, but I do not quite understand what it means.
    I repaired aw55-50sn on the Renault Laguna 2.0T, it remains only to adjust the solenoids. Now there is only one problem - switching 1-2 with a kick.
    And advise,please, any English-speaking forum of experts in automatic transmission.

    • @thechaindude1320
      @thechaindude1320 Před rokem

      im aware this comment is old, but may this help anyone seeing this in the future:
      a "flare" is a short rise in engine RPM, a result of delayed engagement of the next gear. usually caused by sticking or worn servos, seals, or bores.
      a "harsh" shift is when too much pressure is applied during the shift, usually caused by sticking servos or regulators that can hang and then engage/disengage too quickly. this is the term for your 1-2 "kick".
      i'm not too sure on the term "bump" but i believe it has to do with downshifts that aren't smooth. this could be caused by any combination of things i mentioned above.
