    Hi Hiram, great videos. You are the only guy I know that goes through all the steps that you use to rebuild these transmission, hell some you tubers don't even tell you what torque to use on bolts because they are scared of being sued. Any chance you can add the links of the kits you use in the description, so we can locate these parts. You are so advanced in knowledge that sometimes its easy to assume we already know all this stuff. Again you are the boss of transmissions, by far the most informative videos on you tube, keep up the great work.

    Excellent video. I have an old BMW 7 with a zfhp30. It had always suffered from hard down shifts. Mainly 5-4. Changing the fluid many times and using an additive greatly improved it . What shift kit do you recommend? It has not got any worse over 11years and 100k miles. (Now on 201k) original transmission.

    Hoping you'll see this and give me your thoughts. AW55-50sn will not move until engine rpm is around 2500 in forward gears, reverse will only slightly pull at 4000+ rpm. It will move forward just a little once you go above 2500 rpm but acts like a manual transmission would if the clutch were slipping. Main lube pressure is low, sits around 2 psi in all gears at idle but does increase with engine rpm up to around 20psi. SLT pressure in drive is around 2 psi and does change with engine rpm but always falls back to 2-3psi. C1 pressure in drive never goes above 20psi even with high engine rpm. I have removed the valve body and inspected, oil was burnt but no debris were found. Solenoids Ohm good at around 5.5 on all. I'm thinking the torque converter has failed but considering trying to reman valve body before I replace the torque converter. Your thoughts?

    Maestro Gutierrez. I have a 2004 Nissan Quest SE 3.5L V6 took it to a shop to have a code reading they pulled code P0726. They told me is a bad solenoid? symptoms are when the van is cold is fine but when I drive it for 15-20 mins feels a hard hit like when I get to a complete stop is shakes at the downshift point the RPM gauge even moves back and forth in THE 1 RPM GAUGE. what do you think is wrong?

    Got a 2005 Chevy Equinox, had some pretty burned fluid in it, I had the motor apart so I went ahead and drained the fluid, once all back together a month later I hear pump whine, then it lost all gears, I drained the fluid again it was real dirty. Got all my gears back for a short time, then gone again, drained and added fluid a 3rd and 4th time with some idling in between. Fluid came out clean. Went around the block and it didn't make it, lost all gears again, something is getting clogged. Do you think it can be repaired by pulling the VB or am I looking at a complete rebuild. I have no experience in transmissions, except what I learned at tech school. What happened was the cooler lines were both crimped from a wreck in the front and they never got replaced.

    • @cdoublejj
      @cdoublejj Před měsícem

      that new ATF acts like a cleaner. you would have to been physcic to change it again before that month. you could try cleaning the VB and see what happens! though it's a year later. wonder if you sold, traded it junked it for fixed it?

    • @vernonbosshard9317

      @@cdoublejj Still have it, I ordered a good used trans from Ebay and it arrived broken, the seller is fighting me saying I broke it, the delivery guy notated it was damaged on delivery, so this project in on hold. I have to get Ebay involved to get my money back then try to find another one or rebuild mine, a shop wanted 7000 to do it, fuck that!! I can pull the VB and see a lot from there with my bore scope, but the bottom line is its burned up, the old fluid burned and coated the inside, the new fluid broke it lose and clogged everything up. I thought I might get it flushed out by changing the fluid a few times, nope, its bad.

    Hiram, I just replaced the valve body in my 2003 Volvo XC70 with a Sonnax reman unit. For the first day all was well, then suddenly threw a p0750 code, SLT signal missing. Would you suspect a problem with the connector? I'm inclined not to suspect the solenoid itself, being a fresh rebuild, but I'm curious what you would think.
    Great info you've given us, here. Thanks.

    • @AutomaticTransmission
      @AutomaticTransmission  Před 2 lety

    I own a 2012 Chevy Sonic with a 1.8L engine. The transmission suddenly quit shifting past 2nd and no reverse. This happened while driving on the freeway. The dealer wants to replace the transmission--$4000.00. I noticed that the transmission was shifting hard into reverse before this actually happened. I was wondering if you could give me an idea what to check? Could the problem be a solenoid? Or do you think I need some hard parts? Thanks

    Great video!! Explained very well. Any advice - I have a AW 55-50NS / RE5F22A out ofo a 06 nissan maxima, runs great until operating temp reached. Hard engagement of Drive and Reverse. Hard shifts 1-2,2-3, and sometime neutral like experience going into 4th. 5th is solid. Erratic tight shift points, and hard down shifts. 6 trans codes thrown (0797 Pressure Control Solenoid "C" stuck open, 0744 Torque converter clutch circuit intermittent, 0735 Gear 5 incorrect ration, 0780 Shift malfunction, 0733 Gear 3 incorrect ration, 0726 Engine spped sensor range / performance - internal electronic anomaly)
    1) Odds it is just valve body?
    2) Could all these codes be because of Pressure Solenoid "C"! ( Linear SLT?)
    3) Should I just replace the valve body
    4)Or does Sonnax valve body Zip kits work for these things?

    Can you explain the terms harsh, bump, flare? They are found in the guides for tuning the valve body solenoids, but I do not quite understand what it means.
    I repaired aw55-50sn on the Renault Laguna 2.0T, it remains only to adjust the solenoids. Now there is only one problem - switching 1-2 with a kick.
    And advise,please, any English-speaking forum of experts in automatic transmission.

    • @cdoublejj
      @cdoublejj Před měsícem

      flare is when you press the gas and engine starts revving up high almost like you are out of gear or start revving like it's going to shift but, keeps revving then does shift THEN does shift but, the car doesn't go any faster

    Hiram. Thanks for the great information. I've got a Saab 9-3 2003 with this AW55. I'm struggling with this car. The car acts like it is slipping all the time in D or R. Once in a great while maybe 1% of the time it acts like it works. But then it stops driving. I have a Tech2 GM and Saab diagnostic computer. It shows Solenoids information and pressure and currents. But the car refuses to move. Can I send you some screen shots showing various pressures? Is my problem the linear solenoids sticking causing my no movement?

    • @evilcowboy
      @evilcowboy Před 4 lety

      I know this is old but I have seen the mechanical valves inside the body stick which would cause a blockage and account for low line pressure. Low line pressure = the car will not move. I'd rebuild the valve body or find another used one somewhere.
