As much as I love England and as much as the defeat off the all blacks was a superb display....and as much as I was very disappointed at the final result.....we were beaten by the better side on the day. It hurts but that's sport......what an exciting world cup full of many great memories.

The English media and the rugby world made England believe that the cup was already theirs and made them look at SA as total underdogs.
That was a big mistake.
The win over NZ was well deserved, BUT - NZ played very badly and that made England look better than they really were.
In the final, England were in tatters psychologically at half time, you could see it written all over their faces, they expected to be leading 15 - 0 by then.
They got hit hard in all departments by the Springboks.
They underestimated their opponents.
Big mistake, and they paid dearly for it.
SA were in total control of that game right from the start, and their scrums were huge. England had no answer for that.
But hats off and respect to England, they played this tournament well and English rugby has improved by leaps and bounds, the gap between Northern and Southern hemisphere sides is closing, but somehow, I dont know/think it will ever fully close.

Thats what South America probably once said about football and they once dominated the football World Cup in its early years, so the Southern Hemisphere teams shouldn't get complacent but congrats to the Springboks!
Hats off to southern hemisphere coaches assisting and improving the northern hemisphere rugby....truth be told if the northern hemisphere continue this way the gap will be close...England definetly improve and all thanks to Eddie Jones.
