In today’s video I’m going to talk about the benefits of L- glutamine powder. L-glutamine is an amino acid that has many benefits for the human body. Some of the many benefits of L-glutamine are assisting in burning fat, losing weight, gaining muscle, and repairing your gut. There are a lot of people who suffer from leaky gut, and the number one amino acid your gut needs to help heal and repair leaky gut is L-glutamine. To supplement, I recommend 2-5 grams twice daily. L-glutamine is great for people who want to avoid losing muscle and stay in shape, people with cancer who don’t want their muscle to waste away, and people who suffer with diseases such as IBS. For more on L-glutamine benefits, you can check out my article here: draxe.com/l-glutamine-benefits...

I've been taking 1 gram of L-glutamine in pill form every morning on an empty stomach for about 4 weeks. As someone who's been diagnosed with alternating IBS (sometimes I can go too much, sometimes I can't at all) and frequent flair ups, gas, bloating, you name it....I can honestly say that I haven't had any tummy issues in the last 4 weeks.

If you have those kind of guy issues, that's some kind of plant matter messing with your digestive system. Animal foods (meat) will not cause that. Do a series of elimination tests on any vegetables you eat. It's very likely one of them is causing the problem. Alternatively it could be an allergy to something, but I would target the veggies first as it's the most likely cause.

The recommended therapeutic dosage is .5 grams to 1 kilogram body weight. I’d start off low and work up to full dose. Take first thing in the morning on empty stomach in 12 oz of water and again at night before bed on an empty stomach. I think 30 g (15 g in the morning and 15 g at night) is a generally healthy dose for everyone.

Hi! For sure glutamine is helpful for people who are facing gut and digestion issues, I tried it and it worked fine. But unfortunately it can lead to constipation after a while and I had sleeping issues with it beacause it's a precursor to the glutamate neurotransmettor and I was on neuroleptics. So it must be used carefully. Bye

Hey Dr Axe is it safe to take L-Glutamine while breastfeeding? I called my lactation consultant and she has a book that lists all the medicines/medications/supplements but nothing that talks about L-glutamine so when i asked her she said to talk with my doctor about it. I am hoping to maybe get an answer from someone on here who may know about this.

Very informative dr axe! One thing you forgot to mention is it's probably good to take a big more than the recommended dosage I would take 7 to 8 grams because as in sure you already know, the lining in the stomach is very glutamine hungry a big part of it is made from glutamine is takes up whatever is given to it extra. So very little if any is left for the actual body to benefit from or have it go to muscles and skeletal system.
But great video I give it a thumbs up and five stars if I could. Every one of your videos is great keep them coming! 👍

I cant site specific sources, these were things I learned in my health class in college, I do however have the books I studied from, but where in those book specifically? I couldn't tell you since its been years and its just in my notes (which I still reread) and from memory.
but a simple google and filtering things out will help you find it.
