Hey guys! How are you doing?
In this video i restored a antique rusted coffee grinder produced by Araceba.
Araceba is a Brazilian industry with outstanding performance in the segment of industrial stoves and domestic machines. Founded in 1987, in the city of Caxias do Sul-RS, where it developed its activities until 1994, later it moved to Paraná. Araceba currently has in its portfolio the most varied solutions for the gastronomic sector.
This Coffee grinder probably have 30 years old or more.
So, to start this restoration i disassembled just with my hands and a file to remove the wood handle, this step was very easy to do.
After the disassemble done, i make electrolysis to remove some rust and old paint in the surface of the grinder.
I like to make electrolysis cause the rust and old paint leave very easy after the process done.
With the electrolysis done, i brushed all parts and washed out of camera.
Now you can see that was a lot of casting marks on, so with a file i removed just the bigger ones, i didn't wanted to make the surface smooth.
I reshaped with a hand drill one leg of the grinder.
With all parts done i give a bath with hydrochloric acid and water.
I added some filler to fill the little holes on the surface of the leg and sanded it.
After this process i painted all parts with 2 coats of primer and 2 coats with the original colors, blue and silver.
I also painted all the letters with white and black.
The Screws and washers needed a new plate so i nickel plated all then and some other parts too.
The original wood handle was in a good condition so i restored it, just mill a little and sanded with a 100G to 380G and puted some olive oil to increase the protection.
Now with all parts done, i start to asessemble, very easy hehe'.
The restoration turned out great and i did a test with coffee.
