I have 2012 530d with 170k miles and not a single rattle or issue. Regular servicing and premium fuel.
The diesels are pretty robust cars!
I have 2014 F11 530D and have no issues at all. Full ivory leather, panoramic roof, Harmon Kardon sound system, head up display, no squeaks or rattles and no issues in over 30k miles. I love it.
same , even with my 520d I have no issues at all .

The first thing you hate (the sound) can be easily fixed by the 6 cylinder engine. Only milk come in 2 liters ;)

I think the water problem is just with right hand side drive cars. The left hand drive cars don't have the cover that keeps braking for you. Also, first time I ever heard anybody say the interior quality is bad?
Maybe that's the case. Interior Quality is not Bad, but it could be way better IMO, Which they've improved in the newer generation.
If you have the chance, try to sit in a F10/F11 530D with luxury package and leather interior.
I don't have any of that horrible rattling, extreme wear and the melting issue with mine, but it's a LCI version from 2016.
Also with stage 1 tuning / sport package with around 280 PS, saves me around 0.3L/100km diesel.
You have a Great Car! I'll do that for sure if I get the chance! Haven't seen a lot of 530d here where I stay though.
I know it’s very rare to find also 520d in Malaysia don’t go for a bmw 530d it’s not good it’s almost the same options you face in a bmw 520d all diesel even a 530d will sound like a truck so go for a 520i petrol

Greetings from Singapore! I have a GS250... but I love the F10. One of the most well proportioned and timeless cars out there along with the E39.....great chassis ...great drivetrain...but fxxx shit plastics lol. Absolute pleasure to look at though....

it's just that you bought the used car with faults , I have 2012 with same specs and everything it feels so much comfortable and clean interior , the way it handles and steering feels responsive is way better than inferior series of that generation .

1. You can always buy petrol version. By the way is it R4? R6 should sound little better. I own my 5-th BMW and I always buy R6 petrol - even with LPG it is still better for me then Diesel. I just don't like sound of Diesel engine. I know, that you LPG in F10 series have no sense.
2. Never herd off. Was this car in any car accident?
3. This is 5 series - buy F30 or E60 (or E90). F10 is kinda E65 chassis - it is all about comfort.

5. It is about distance from seat to car edge - it is big. The same problem is with A4 B8 Allroad and probably most of modern upper class cars. This is a price you pay for big interior, and massive secure doors.
6. This is problem off most of cars in those years (about 2006-2015?). Compare it to E60 or E39 (don't mention E38). 1 series and 3 series (F30) are even worse. All people are talking about it. BMW went wild with Excel numbers and forgot what is BMW about. All VAG family has the same problem since '96 I guess (like Golf 4, Passat B5 etc). AFAIK BMW fixed it in next generations.
But still F10 is a great car. Thanks for a movie.

2. No, it's a rubber seal that ages with the car and has to be replaced every couple of years.
3 - 4. Yes, it is very comfortable indeed!
5. You make a valid point. it's just about how it feels to get out of the car, nothing wrong with the car.
6. I do also think the G30 has a much higher quality interior

Then don‘t Buy a 520 But a 6 cilinder, and you Must clean now and then the waterdrainage with Every car! Not only bmw, and no Steuering feeling in a bmw?? I had several 5 series, they Are famous because of the steering feeling!! The 5 series is the car to beat in this segment. If you aren‘t satisfy with a bmw 5 then you will never be satisfied with any car!!
I had my 5 series for 3 years and it was the most amazing experience, I'd definitely go back to the 5 chassis one day again. The steering feel is because of the electronic power steering compared to hydraulic ones, nothing wrong with the 5 specifically.
