    The two faint lines at the base of the lock bar are for final finishing of some knives. Certain inlaid (usually wood) models have part blasted and part polished lock sides. The two lines are where the polished and blasted come together. Micarta never gets polished but still, since it's an inlay, they put the two lines in anyways.

    At 7:15, why not just take the knife apart and save the lanyard in its entirety? Chris Reeve encourages owners of his knives to take them apart and service them... one of the few knife makers that isn't afraid of their knives being screwed up but such action. Now that's confidence in a product!!!

    Congrats, man! The Seb is one of the most beautiful folders in the world, in my opinion. Mine is s45, but I'd prefer Magnacut. At 63-64 hrc Magnacut will have as good or better edge retention than s45 at 61-62 hrc. I kept mine stock for a year or two but eventually decided to take some pressure off the lock bar and replace the single stud with dual Ti Connector studs. The action is WAY better now. Can thumb or reverse flick and drops to the thumb on close.

    Very cool bro! About 4-5 years ago after like a 7 year break from buying any knives, I suddenly splurged on two small Sebenza 21's. A drop point in Devin Thomas damascus and a CF inlaid Insingo... so I pretty much got my CRK fill and never bought any more. In fact I didn't buy any other folders for another 3 years after that too! So kind of a weird journey there.
    Anyway that was right before or around when they wheeled out the 31's and phased out the 21's. So I'm happy I got them when I did, but the 31's did get a couple of improvements. That detent ball on the lock interface is a new innovation and seems pretty cool. Mine are just Ti lockbar on the steel tang. Also the pocket clip used to rest on the lockbar, and the inlaid models used that double inlay design. Makes me think about getting a 31 now 😆
    But nah I am actually still totally satisfied.... for now. Basic framelocks on washers, but they really are very well made.
    Oh yeah and they flick a little better for me putting the thumbnail on the stud.

    The blade steel is marked under the washers. Think its a V or 45 for S45 and M for Magnacut. Wee drop of loctite or superglue will stop the lanyard pin rattling. Or a little piece of the lanyard cord in the pin and torched with a lighter will do the same. Congrats man.

    There is a M on blade if you remove the blade or 45 on the blade that will tell you what steel it is. It's where the washers lay. Throw on some of the grease crk gives and kpi normal and add some grease on d tent ball and it'll flick out like butter once broken in after a few flicks. I love my seb 31 in black micarta inlays. C-22 is the quarter and year it was made. I belive A is Jan to March B is April June etc.and the year after the letter. Either by 3 months or 4 month quarters.

    They’re simply the best. Been into knives for many years and have gone through the gamut/gauntlet of phases in the collection. Finally got to the point of realization that I don’t need all of these knives and have reduced the collection to a handful of folders. Still got my fixed blades but the CRKs are just simple, well made and reliable tools.

    Congratulations on acquiring your grail! I got a Sebenza a few months ago and honestly at first I had pretty much immediate regret because it was just not what I expected. I had issues with the edge and it was just soooo stiff out of the box. But now, I can’t seem to put it down, after a few sharpening sessions and cleanings the edge issues went away and it’s now buttery smooth.
    The Lanyard is trash though, I wish they would just not out one on.
    The price is also outrageous considering what you get. No bang for your buck whatsoever.

      @doodysdaggers  Pƙed rokem +2

      Right on! Yeah I think it will continue to grow on me too. I already love it.
      But yes, the price is way too high. You’re paying a lot for the Chris Reeve name. I mean sure, it’s a classic knife full of history. Its extremely well made. And the design is fantastic. But it’s simple. Two pieces of titanium and a blade.
      đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž worth it?
      For me it is. But for some people it isn’t.

      I did the same thing man. Got so burnt out cause all the new stuff coming out every week and couldn't keep up. Said screw it I'm going to slipjoints but that didn't last long just a little to out dated for me. Then I finally went full circle and bought a knife that originally got me into knives an Emerson. Now over the past year or so that's all iv bought. Absolutey love beating the shit out of a Emerson something about just feels different. I still have my some crks, hinderers, medfords, striders and love em all but theres nothing quite like an Emerson

    I know I'm the outlier here but I recently purchased a Sebenza and intentionally left it in the box the hour's drive home because I wanted that unboxing experience. As I think everyone is when they get their first great knife, I was like a kid all over again when opening it. I just sat there looking at it for a minute, inspecting every inch, and was amazed at how tight the tolerances are. I knew opening it was going to be different from every other knife I own because I've watched tons of videos on it. So I just sat there for a while opening and closing it. My thoughts were that it has to break in and get smoother than it was because it felt like metal against metal when closing it and I could actually hear it. After two days of just opening and closing it, hoping it would get better it didn't, it got worse. I'm not sure about anyone else, but when I spend that much money on something I have to absolutely love it to justify that cost. I tried to convince myself that I did, but I just didn't like it. I returned it the following day. Who knows, maybe I got a defective one. All I know is I was bummed about the whole experience and don't think I'll be purchasing another one.

    • @doodysdaggers
      @doodysdaggers  Pƙed rokem +1

      Hmm interesting! I have heard they take a month or two to break in. But the metal on metal sound definitely isn’t right. There is no sound at all when I close this one. It’s very smooth, but tight. I bet you did get a defective one. That sucks your experience was ruined!

    • @zbaird3
      @zbaird3 Pƙed rokem

      Sorry to hear that but I bet if you tighten the pivot probably would have taken care of that. You would think loosen but it's opposite. I could be wrong but that's how knifes on washers are sometimes. You shouldn't have to though

    • @SixArmedPriest
      @SixArmedPriest Pƙed rokem

      This happens to many who purchase a specific knife that has a lot of hype. I've seen many who purchase and return because it wasn't the experience they wanted it to be. Too high expectations.

      @timothy9596 Pƙed rokem
