I’m 62 now, and back in 2006 my then 8 year old son and I played this map CONSTANTLY. A lot of great memories were made and yes, the catwalk was the SHIT! We were talking on the phone just now comparing Cold War zombies to Der Reese zombies and reminiscing when I decided to look up some game play and came upon this gem. Thanks for uploading!

This game didn’t come out in 2006 it came out in ‘08 so there’s no possible way you were playing this map in ‘06 when this game didn’t exist then.

Not only were these maps insane back then but most of us now were at the age were we started to understand video games and which ones were the most interesting. I was 13 at the time of Der riese and I thought der riese was the coolest shit ever

I just recent bought WaW again for 360 and me and my middle school friends play split screen on weekends. It’s crazy how after 13 years it still gives you that same fun factor back in 2009
One of my absolute favorite zombies maps ever, plus with the added benefit of this map having my favorite wonder weapon too that's just the cherry on top. Flawless! 🌟
Fuck was this one of the best maps ever me and my brother grew up on zombies. Mule kick before it was a thing, upgrading all the weapons, crappy wunderwaffe, creepy dialogue from the radios. Take me back to 2009 I'd do anything to relive the memories of the glory days.

Going from playing black ops 3 back to this was a serious shock, I don't remember it being so difficult. The laggy one hit downs are controller smashing territory

you can actually get an extra betty from max ammos, it replenishes to 2 if you have 1 but not if you have 0. pretty interesting
5th grade year. I remember getting off the school bus on a Friday. My parents had left and my eldest brother was in charge and he just picked this up and mortal Kombat vs DC universe. Such good memories man

This was awesome but I really believe that if the box treated you better you would've gotten way farther.
Der Riese is the only COD zombie map I know in which there are zombies breaking down barriers the instant you start the first level.
Never got to play original waw but I got it and it's really good. Og verruckt was something else for me. I recently did the perkaholics anonymous achievement for der riese and it was so much fun honestly. In my opinion this game still plays good today.

I remember playing WAW Der Riese on my iPod Touch back in the day. Classic
On WaW, you do not get max ammo betties if you place both of them. However, on der riese, if you only place one, and keep one, you will get another betty on max ammo and have 2.
EDIT: You can also place betties on top of things like; the empty box locations, on top of railings, on tables… if you jump and place them while jumping
Used to do old USB mods for solo on this, and then eventually opened up my Xbox, made a disc and started hot swapping to get all the proper mod menus and infect friends for them to use etc. was so fun. But that was about 5 years after it came out. Playing custom hide and seek games with friends was great
The flamethrower lowkey is what will take you to high rounds. Definitely don’t sleep on it.
WaW had the best zombies IMO. Everyone says BO2 but it started to get way too complicated and it took away from the fun for me. I enjoyed the simplicity of the original maps.
Also it was frustrating watching this video and seeing you never make a crawler for the end of the round to get new guns and upgrade lol

it started to fall off for me with bo2 dlc. i really liked tranzit and survival on town is still good now and nuketown solo is great imo but when die rise came out everything started to go downhill
You can get three weapons also by pack a punching a gun and quickly buy the closest wall gun, then quickly walk back to grab your pack a punch gun while switching to a bouncy betty. Good old days.
shouldve done the triple weapon glitch, makes solos a bit less hectic when it comes to ammo :)

if you go prone at the perk machines it gives you $10 or $20 and you can do the treasure hunt with the bear by shooting the switch thing that is out of the map when you look out one of the barriers but you gotta shoot it with a pack a punch weapon
I remember when I was younger trying to survive in first room to buy the 4500 ammo for upgraded version..I couldn’t survive long enough to get it. Plus you can’t even do that but I didn’t know lol

To your point of the monkey bombs being strong on higher rounds, the bouncing bettys also seem to have no damage cap on them

being german and hearing gewehr being pronounced incorrectly is always the funniest thing to me, but it doesnt bother me cause literally everybody says it wrong, and also ive heard it pronounced like 15 different incorrect ways, its amazing how many different ways people can interpret the pronunciation, fyi its pronounced guh-VAIR, since Ws are like Vs in german

If you upgraded stg44 that you got from the box then tried to get upgraded ammo off the wall later, it'd switch the gun out for a regular wall gun. If your upgrading a wall gun make sure you get it from the wall.

@@ethanhawkins3391 yea I figured out the hard way lol I ran up and bought ammo and my upgrade gun was gone, I said "what!!" Then i died shortly after.
My strategy for der riese was to buy the knife as early as possible because you get 130 points per knife kill and you don't need to buy weapons and ammo for a while

I always loved using the betty 3 gun glitch and carrying an upgraded flamethrower in my third slot. Instakill made it godmode and even without just toast zombags in choke points then run they eventually burn enough to die as long as u keep running.
Quick tip for pronouncing German words: when I and E go walking, the second one does the talking!
so the flamethrower is actually really good you just gotta know how to use it you dont hold down the fire button you keep tapping it and it barely heats up the flamethrower icon and with bouncing bettys you dont put down both of them so you can get another one from a max ammo only at the end of the round do you put down your last bouncing betty
I can’t lie WAW zombies is so much harder then any other. The double swipe hits get you, sprinting zombies that seem like crack heads. It is absolutely crazy but nostalgic and indeed revolutionary to cod zombies. My favorite
