Thanks for this video. Agree with alot of what both of you have said. I have lived in both cities and would have to agree that Vancouverites can be more surface level friendly, and a bit aloof, however, I did make some life long friends there. As well, Vacnouver has a sizable transient population that only resides there for small periods of time throughout the year. Torontonians are more aggressive and direct. You are more likely to know where you stand with a Torontonian - they will speak there mind more readily. As well, agreed, that Toronto is definitely more multicultral: Little Italy, LIttle Portugal, Little jamaica, Little India - the list goes one. Toronto seems to have a more defined scene. Although, the warmer weather, cleaner air, proximity and natural beauty are No.1 in Van-city. I also notice that Torontonians seem to be more busy and don't necassarily make as much time for people as I experienced in Van-city and the lower mainland. Both cities are becomning unreachable in terms of housing affordability. Toronto has a vibe and energy that I have yet to find anywhere else in Canada. I feel more connected to people to Toronto. As well, I would have to say that Toronto really is the "New York" of Canada, It is an exciting city. You really have to visit both of these cities and see if it speaks to you. Where you feel most at home. These 2 cities are 2 completely different worlds.

@@keithmurphy7243 Sorry pal but it's completely correct. I've lived in both places and it' undeniably, equivocally true. The cultural depth and diversity on the east coast is far more profound. Even if you haven't lived in both places, it's just an objective fact. The PNW is far less cultured both in terms of migrant groups, AND local history. The ethnic neighbourhoods and populations are far larger on the east coast (Italian, Greek, Jewish, Chinatown, Vietnamese, Jamaica/caribeean)... The PNW was mostly a British/German enclave for the majority of it's history, with some Chinese/Japanese migrants, and recently south asians. Historically, while places like NY or Montreal had been trading hubs for decades already, places like Seattle & Vancouver were logging towns. Philadelphia, Washington, NY etc... All extreme historical and cultural hubs. What's in the PNW? Seattle and Portland? Vancouver? The PNW is just a much newer area that had far less migrants both in quantity and diversity. The people here just don't have anywhere near the same exposure to various ethnic groups as people on the east coast have, and the cultural relevance of the PNW in context of Canada/USA is pretty much "zero" compared to Toronto, Montreal, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Ottawa, Washington etc...

The only way I have found it’s socially acceptable to chat with strangers here is giving compliments on an outfit (has happened more in TO, which maybe says something) or if there is a common mishap, like subway delay, or a disruptance that inconveniences others and someone makes a joke about it nearby or something.

The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. I'm so sorry for Canada. Canadian and Canadian Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see like this in Europe or the United States. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beach. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country. Torontonians's are more in your face whereby Vancouverites are not. The vibe is different in these cities. Although, the skyrocketing housing/rental affordability has increased people's stress level in both cities. Vancouverites don't have that bite or "edge' that Torontonians have. I lived in Toronto for 35 years and have to say that Torontonians can be more angry and edgey - vs the aloofness and social anxiety I witneseed in Van-city. The distinction between people being stressed and people being aggressive and edgey. There is a more surface level friendliness in Vancouver. Anyway, when I first arrived in Vacnouver in 2008, I would def have to say it was more laid back then when i left Toronto.

@@dreww1818 It sounds like your saying that people in Vancouver are more likely to beat around the bush about an issue rather then just being direct about something. Where as people in Toronto are more direct and will just tell you things to your face. It basically comes down to culture issue and and how people are raised. Vancouver is difficult place to make friends because here children are taught in general that all strangers are scary and won’t something from you. Living and working in a city is completely different then being on vacation in a city. When I watched this video I suspected that the girl from Vancouver still lives a home. I could be wrong but when you’ve got the Bank of Mom and Dad backing you up. Life will be more laid back and theres more time to smell the roses and enjoy the view.
It could also be the circle of friends people keep and lifestyle choices or economic station in life. I think it’s disingenuous to give people the blanket Idea that Vancouver is this really laid back city and all people do here spend their time on the beach or hiking in the mountains. Just saying.

Torontonians are just blunt and don't waste time, they don't have short fuses. Ever get in the way of a yogi in Vancouver? They go from Zen to Demon in 1 second. What ever is great about Toronto was created by the people. Whatever is great about Vancouver was already there, and they built around it. Toronto has depth, true culture. Vancouver has mountains, ocean, incredible nature so close to a major city. But the culture is very clique, vapid, and much colder than their big Brother Toronto. Also, people in vancouver love hating on Torontonians (even though they've never been there), yet Torontonians only complain about their own city (and maybe Quebecois).
