    This is the unique side of Verbier: ungroomed but secured pistes. I love these. Especially in Verbier, because they are relatively wide, so you won't get into any serious trouble. I remember doing this one the first time in not the best of conditions and my legs were seriously burning.

      Yes, I call Verbier off-piste heaven because of the yellow/itinerary runs, where I feel much safer as the Swiss have a clear definition (avalanche safe). Now that I've thought about it, this is the first time I did this route. Mont Fort - La Chaux, Mont-Gele - Tortin I did plenty of times but first time for Mont Fort - Tortin.

    Great video. Beautiful weather, snow and overall conditions. Gentianes section looked about as good as it gets

      Yeah, no huge moguls to navigate, I would say only a powder day would have been better. Late season was the best this year.

    what app do you use to see the altitude and speed in this video?

    Hello, when you go off-piste skiing like in this video, are you equipped with equipment like a shovel, a probe, a transceiver, etc.?
    It must be rather dangerous to go off-piste without equipment and alone ?

      Hi, on this day I had the full avalanche kit including the airbag because the risk was high but you don't need to bring one, it's at your own risk and if the avalanche risk was low I usually would not take it all, maybe just the transceiver.

    It would be nice if the video had a heart rate meter! Thanks for the video, it's great!

      Haha, sometimes you can tell by my breathing :-) Thanks for the feedback...

    Do you need avalanche gear for the yellow part of this run? It says on the piste map marked but not maintained or controlled….

    • @ChasingSnow
      @ChasingSnow  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It's your choice and your risk. I wore it this day because of the high avalanche risk but it's not required.

      @@ChasingSnow thanks for such a quick reply. Hard to find the answer online. Safety is normal one👌

    I hate bumps almost as much as I hate poling.

      I'm not a great fan of big bumps on steep slopes but this is my challenge. I need to master them.

      @@ChasingSnow I admire your desire to master the bumps. When I see competition bump skiers boom, boom, booming their way down a fall line, my mechanical knees weep for that is what I consider excellent doing the bumps..

    • @ChasingSnow
      @ChasingSnow  Před rokem +1

      @@barrylongyear1933 I'd be happy with just a smooth consistent run down. I suspect my usual fast, stable and long skis are not particularly suited for bumps.
