I love that in an interview she had to tell Cruze when they were filming to hurry the hell up getting over to her in the scene where she is stretching because she couldn’t hold the pose for very long after reshooting the scene so many times.
What keeps amusing me is that she became that legendary 'Angel of Verdun' mainly because on her first day in battle she got an alpha mimic's blood mixed with hers. Thanks to that she could relive that day again and again and know every move of mimics on the battlefield. But for that she would have been killed like thousands other rookies.
It's been 6 years, considering the age of actor/actress, don't think that they would make prequel that is appropriate. Movie was good as it was, any sequel or prequel might derail that.
This movie is in the top 20 sci-fi movies of all time, IMHO. It is in my personal top 5, right alongside Gattaca. Loved the character growth. Crazy as Tom is in real life, where he took this character from beginning to end was pretty amazing. And I became a fan of Emily Blunt's work after this. Favorite scene is Tom crawling away with a broken leg trying to reassure her he is okay as she walks up to him and chambers a round. Then, blam.
Her squad are the Warpigs, they are elite, almost legendary. They kick ass on an unprecendented level and their equipment is heavy and top notch....but the movie showed very little of them and apart fronm their look, they don't accomplish much.
I like how her and her whole elite squad got totally merked in the first couple of minutes of the invasion. Shows how completely outclassed the humans are.
Not really. Vrataski is more than a match for the aliens -- when she has their ability to redo the past. Without that one ability, the aliens would be wrecked by humans.
These are the Warpigs, they are indeed elite, almost legendary. They kick ass on an unprecendented level....but the movie showed very little of them and apart fronm their look, they don't accomplish much.
That's only because the time Alien restarted themselves over and over again telling their kind what to do. The humans were the ones completely outclassing them until they could perfectly predict what they would do everytime.
I'm getting goosebumps when Tom Cruise says to the general "you have no mental capacity to fight this thing". Damn it! That's the most badasses coolest line ever!
In the final battle, they really should have asked her own crew as backups. They seem to be an elite force. More competent than Tom’s squad. Better yet, ask both squads to come with them.
I think she mentions that during Verdun, she had to watch the man she loved die hundreds of times, 'til she finally got it done and defeated the mimics there. Awful.
I just love how the love story in this movie is so subtle. It shows the development of Cage's affection for Rita, yet it's barely in the film. But it's so well-written that you still end up rooting for them.
I think it's really great that you get to see that he really cares for her and it's not just Hollywood affection, it's a deep, personal connection. The scene with the helicopter exemplifies that.
In the manga they had balancers which makes the suit easier to maneuver, Rita made her suit to not have have balancers to make her battlestyle more versatile and flexible with her weapon which is only an axe, which made it more badass im telling y'all manga Rita claps mimics like its natural for her
Nice nods to the graphic novel here. Rita's nickname is the "Full Metal Bitch". They used this for great comedic effect. Every time the main character stares at Rita, she asks if there's something on her face.
A movie about the merits and virtues of save-scumming in the face of imminent alien invasion. And was she fit for that role: Emily Blunt in "Aliens Poppin'"
Something about this story - goofing up, learning, getting it right - just like Groundhog Day - kind of mirrors karma and reincarnation. Maybe there's a spiritual element to the story and it's this that makes the movie so compelling. And Emily of course.
If you were to tell me Emily Blunt is in an American Japanese Manga Adaptation where she has a mech suit and carries a Giant Code Lyoko/Final Fantasy Buster Sword in an Alien war...I call you mental. But it's real so... I guess I'm not mental enough to believe it.
So cage now is the new Omega and he can control an army of mimic, againts another race of mimic, i want part 2 hope Tom cruise ang producer read my comment
One of the few films that actually has a coherent explanation as to how someone can fight like a one-woman army.

Yes and without that unlikely confluence of plot devices they'd be no movie.
She was killed. She just came back again and again and again, just like Cruise's character. The original Manga does a better job of explaining it all.
@@arielfetters5662 But unlike Cruise, she didn't have a trainer. It would have taken her a lot longer to learn to fight.
That's the entire concept / conceit of the film... heh.
