The Charles Byrnes/Davy Russell coup is the best one.
To do it with one horse is difficult but to do it with three horses ...

I cannot wait for August 30th, 2026 when the German Gambling Authority will finally have to reveal their investigations on UK horse racing.

Pasternak was an interesting one, in as much as the Racing Post carried the major front page headline: "Why you must back Pasternak" on the day. The horse was part owned by one of their top tipsters of the time and the incredible confidence shown on the day meant that shops up and down the country took a massive hit as punters took the hint.

I knew about the hole in 1 scam. A field of the best golfers over 4 days, of course there’s going to be a hole in 1.

Sadly we don’t stand a chance now a days. The bookies are on to it now. You are lucky to get 100 quid on most bets. And if you do win they close your account or refuse the bet. And if you want to bet they want to know your financial situation!

Use B2Bs or friend/family to place the bets

There’s stories about bookmakers wanting call history on some accounts before they pay out cos they think they broke the rules in their T&Cs.
Incidentally, I have NEVER been restricted in 40 years of gambling and I know all about matched betting, Betfair Arbitration etc. I’ve won £12k from £10 & recently, £9600 & £4400 from £5 bets. I even run my own group and share football bets and have done for the last 6 seasons. Peeps get greedy or make it so obvious they are match betting. I’ve done it all but I never got greedy and so I’ve always stayed under the radar. I did think I would get restricted after the £12k win but nothing. I was going to share the bookmaker, but that would be silly……. But, I’ve never done anything wrong, just got lucky 😅

Barney's Yellow Sam was one of the best. Met him at Ascot once.

      Hi Harry,
He was the scourge of the bookmakers. Unfortunately, a lot of people are unaware of the charity work he did in Africa. He literally gave it all back and for a great cause.

@@marchryhorskyj I think his family wanted him to become a priest. I'll tell you something quite amusing. I was working in the old annual members restaurant with a mate of mine. He recognized Barney straight away. He went up to the Ascot Shop on the third floor, nicked a copy of his book, and then asked for an autograph. This must have been late eighties, when I was a teenager.

They never got paid for the Dagenham Coup. The winning forecast bet paid £987+ for the one winning two shilling bet sold at the track.

      Hi Vickee,
It was an amazing coup. No surprise the culprits who did not pay.
