  • New from the ground up, the Leatt 5.5 FlexLock boot was years in the making. We've seen them on pro riders like Ryan Sipes and Johnny Walker for a while and they are finally available to the public. At $389.99, they aren't as wallet draining as other top end boots but they have plenty of top-end features. Check out the video to find out more details.

I've read 2 people cracked the shin plates. Anyone else experience this yet? Hopefully they fix this on subsequent models and release a second generation. Simply cracking the shin plate isn't great but what if the entire boot body was made from that same material which seems highly plausible and it cracked under extreme impact from a landing or being over flexed. That could be detrimental to your ankle.
You think they would have checked the materials they used to make sure it could stand up overall. I wanted to try these but I think I'll wait until all the kinks are worked out. Until then I'm sticking with my tcx comp Evo Michelin 2's. So far my favorite boots, they are excellent in every single aspect I can think of except they could really benefit from that one way velcro LOL

Had the TCX Comp Evo Michelin, but they were really worst than the previous ones (TCX Pro 2.1).
Was so happy with the old TCX, that I got these new Michelin soles, but they were so bad at the pegs, feeling every bump to my feet, even getting hurt, that I trade up to some old TCX Pro 2.1 again, and they ar a blast!! :D
Hope that some of these days will try these new Leatts.

@@Nuno.Alcaide After coming off A-stars with zero feeling at the pegs these made me feel like I could tell more of what was going on under me because they were not so rigid or thick but yeah on hard landings they can be soft, I also think the ankle has too much forward flex as it doesn't lock out as it should which I brought up to the TCX rep. In other aspects they have held up better than any other boot I've tried yet but I think I may give something new a try next time really for those 2 aspects and make these my woods / backup boots.

@@mxfreaks, I`ve tried most of top level boots in the last years, but the TCX (Pro 2.1) is still the best boot I`ve worn.
Had multiple pairs already, , and it`s a 10 years old model!
Want to try the Leatt`s to see the difference.

BTW, the TCX Comp EVO Michelin, looks more protective (specially on the shin, and even in the back), but for me doesn`t fit inside so well, way harder to close the straps, and specially the sole feels to slim that I feel the pegs too much.
About the fit, I feel that it`s because it lost the inner bootie (it was a great feature)...

if they are anything like their neck braces they will be worth the money.

How stiff is the toe box? Like compared to sidi crossfire or gaerne sg12?

I'm not sure what you mean by that? As far as control feel, like how much you can feel the shifter and brake pedal, this boot has great feedback. Very easy to know where the end of your foot is in relation to the controls. More feel than the Sidi Crossfires, and I haven't worn an SG 12 in while.

@@vitalmx Yes that's what I meant. Thank you for the response. That's unfortunate, I like the lack of feel with the crossfires, that means you wont feel a stump or rock or root when you smack it in the woods haha. I like the looks of the leatt but hate that it sounds like it feels like a alpine star toe box
