- Full time RVing and protecting you and your property! That's what this one is all about. Why? Because there seems to be a false narrative surrounding the safety of the full time RVing lifestyle. And while we’re not saying that full time RVing is any more dangerous than other lifestyles, we ARE saying it’s not exempt from crime as it’s sometimes portrayed. As a matter of fact, full time RVers can sometimes be even more susceptible to crime because of the very nature of the lifestyle. Another great informative video. I grew up in a LEO family. Dad taught us kids to always be aware of the environment around you. Never let your guard down. I never was a Police officer, but our son took up the call to protect and serve. He just was promoted to Sargeant in our local town. We are so proud. You folks stay safe out there.
Our kids grew up hearing the same thing. They’re adults now, but we still say it! Congratulations to your son on his promotion, and we thank him for his service. We know how difficult it can be to be a police officer, and especially these days, so we’re very grateful to those who put on the uniform every day to protect and serve. 👍🏼

Excellent video and very timely for me. About 5 years after coming home from Vietnam, I. thought I'd be fine with a handgun. So I bought one from a friend. The first time I pulled the trigger, I was flooded with emotions, gave it back to my friend, and never even held one since. Fast forward about 45 years and I am now a solo full time RVer who likes camping remotely (or as remotely as I can get in a 30 foot class A). With the world getting crazier by the day, I am increasingly concerned for my safety and have been giving this a lot of thought lately. I think it is nearing time that I refamiliarize myself with my options, in particular, a handgun. Thank you for this video to make me quit thinking about it and realizing it is time to act for my own safety.
First and foremost, thank you for your service. As for RVing, we've seen some 30 footers in some pretty remote areas, often wondering how they got there. I’ve worked in a bicycle shop since 1977. As you can imagine, I’ve seen more than my share of theft. Yes, most of the time just locking things makes the difference; however, the drug addled, looking for their next fix can be pretty determined. They are hard to stop. RV’ing or not ! Try to look like you’ve got nothing worth stealing is great advice as well ! Thank You !
You guys are awesome! This video is invaluable, and we can't thank you enough. We recently purchased a Garmin In-Reach Mini for the times there is no cell service and our next will be a GPS tracker for our trailer and maybe tow vehicle.

Great video, I travel with a German shephard, Noone comes new my site, plus I own guns, ex military, very comfortable with them, never had to pull one in ten years of boon docking
Thank you for the frank discussion about about a subject that many people shrug off as something that will never happen to them. If it takes several minutes for the police to respond to your home, why would anyone expect instant help in a remote location in your RV? Thanks also, for bringing up the seemingly taboo subject of firearms, and the need to be competent with them, and willing to use them if needed. Having a GPS device that can pin point your location is a good idea, particularly for boon docking. Keep up the good work, you have gained another subscriber.

Great info! My wife and I are getting an Airstream later this year and plan to do long trips with some serious boondocking as well as cross country travels. She’s an experienced RV’er but I’m not, so learning these things about safety and security are really helpful. Thank you all! We love what you’re doing!

Another great video! I typically cringe when folks start talking about RV life safety. Your information was right on, to the point, common sense and didn't do what most folks say to me when they realize I travel solo... which is encourage me to rely totally on a gun. I knew guns weren't for me because I started out with bear spray and have a 100% track record of spraying myself. Once my bear spray went off spraying both me and a cop! Long story and we both ended up laughing about it. But seriously... good video. Oh...and..... I will add in my ramblings..... One of my best investments for safety has been my satellite phone. I pay an annual fee and then I only turn it on and pay when I'm using it. I have a select list of folks who know how to reach me on it and if any rescue folks need to find me, they have my exact latitude and longitude. :)
Thanks for the kind words. When it comes to one's protection you have to go with what you're comfortable with having and using. Over time, with practice, you could become more comfortable and proficient with your choice of personal protection. Also, a satellite phone is a great option for those, like yourself, that like to camp off grid. It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Amazing video.. I got a lock for my hitch, wheel clamp locks, change the locks on the door, added more locks to the storage underneath did not think about motion lights. So getting those now. I have mass but no guns.

Very informative info. We have the motion sensor, solar powered lights at our front door, back of the rv and two on the back side. We got them originally to lighten the area around the rv when I walked the dogs at night but later we realized they were a good way to show any activity around the rv. We also have cameras on the front door and front of the rv but they are dependent upon wifi. One other thing that bothers me about security at a campground is the way some parents feel their kids are safe running rampant through a campground without parents even being outside or watching them. We were at a campground outside Dallas when we heard some kids screaming and playing and it sounded pretty close. I opened our door to find 5 kids, all under the age of about 10, playing on our picnic table. I had no clue who these kids were or where they belonged. Hubby simply asked them to go back to their own rvs to play and they left. Where were the parents? How can they be so stupid as to think their kids are totally safe anywhere, especially in a campground where people move in and out on a daily basis! I shudder to think of what might happen to those kids some day.
Motion sensor lights are a game-changer, it's a shame RV manufacturers don't include them as an option. As we said in the video about complacency, parents haven't had something bad happen to their children so they think it will never happen. Kids can still have a great time, just with adult supervision. Thanks for the great comments and watching our channel. 👍🏼🙏🏼

I learned something on another channel, that I thought was good advice. If you have a hang tag that is required to be on the tow vehicle, take it down if you are away from the camp ground. That way you are not advertising where you are staying and that you are away from the campground.

This is great information and its good to know that my husband has already done most of what you have suggested. And we do have a large dog that is very protective of us and our property. We also have very inexpensive motion detection lights all around our trailer and vehicle. Thanks for sharing!!!

Thanks for the video and Thank You Both For Your Service! All good information; although, I did get a little chuckle. After viewing this, I checked out some of your other videos. I watched the video on the tour of your Airstream and noticed a nice very expensive surge protector hooked up on the electric pole with no lock. I did see a lock on the panel that was open; so, maybe that was the securing mechanism and had not been locked yet. Anyway, I'm going to subscribe. Thanks

Hey Guys, great video!!!! The wife and I are going to start our retirement travels in a couple of months - this video was a wealth of information for us. What is your opinion on pepper sprays? What are some of the better ones?

I have had cars broken into even with nothing visible inside - crooks always think there is something inside! I find more shady people in public campgrounds these days, so i lock everything down! Have you upgraded the door locks on your trailer and if so what did you go to? motion lights?
We travel with a dog but it is a golden retriever and wont bark at anything - only wants to be everybody's friend!
We’re looking at motion sensor lights now. We haven’t upgraded the locks on our Airstream door mainly because it would be a lot easier for someone to come through any of the thousand windows on the rig lol. We have two big dogs we travel with (both are great watch and guard dogs) and we have surveillance. If someone gets through all that, then we’ll have to put our “cop hats” on for the night and deal with it ourselves. 👍🏼

A lock only keeps an honest man honest. In Texas. If you leave your doors unlocked and find someone inside going though your stuff. It's only Trespassing. 1st offense is just a warning. Lock your DOORS

Bad guys are lazy. They take the easiest solution. If you are prepared, you are making it harder for them. You always have to be one step ahead of them. It's not hard for us, we are an LEO family. I am retired and my wife has 4 more years. One more suggestion is to use two cables to lock your generator. We currently have ours locked with a 12 foot coated cable and a 4 ft combination coated cable. So many people will have the first cable and a padlock. The padlock can be defeated in seconds, then your property is stolen.
Looks like y'all are prepared. Generators and bikes are usually the most expensive things we leave out while camping. Thanks for your service and for watching our video. Stay safe. 👍🏼🙏🏼
