I think if the next Paper Mario is slightly better then TOK, it will be really good like TTYD. Also, because this is the best selling Mario game, i think Nintendo is realizing that we want games more like the originals. I have high hopes for the future of Paper Mario.

But bobby is brought up again right before they board bowsers airship in chapter 6. And I really enjoyed the final boss, it took aspects from the rpg battle system and the real time battles, also it had 3 phases and im a summer for multiphase battles. Also, origami king has more than 2 original characters. Olivia, olly, Jean Pierre colored pencils 12th, the rest of the Legion of Stationary, the handoconda, the other cutout soldiers, the sap sisters, and ol grandsappy aka sweet sap loggins
I also noticed how he never talked about the restrictions apparently placed on the game... which is odd, considering it was something that people had talked about when discussing TOK.

@@CastledCard Fair point, but Color Splash's OST over TOK's?! Look, I don't remember a single song from CS that I loved, (and Ruddy Road just used a 1-1 motif for the 50th time, so your argument sucks there) but TOK's soundtrack is unironically my favorite in the series! Pieces like Event Battle and Shroom City have been stuck in my head for the past 10 months, and like Bowser junior Studios said, NOBODY TRASH TALKS SHIFTY STICKER AND DUAL BLADED DUALIST. EVER. Tracks like The Great Sea, King Olly Phase 1, and whatever the introductory theme for Rubber Band was called, were all epic pieces of music, and nearly everything else was thematically-appropriate, cool sounding, and just overall really good! What does Color Splash have aside from Ruddy Road and the main battle theme? YOUR ARGUMENT SUCKS! (No offense)
(Oh yeah and Thrills At Night was a bop)
I’ll never understand how people can see how against original characters Nintendo is in modern Mario RPGs to the point that many of this game’s bosses are literal office supplies yet they are perplexed that Nintendo won’t put Geno on the roster in Super Smash Bros
I actually prefer Color Splash because it didn’t make false promises that it couldn’t keep like partners, a new story, new characters, badges, a refined battle system, and more. Color Splash wasn’t a good Paper Mario game, but it wasn’t trying to be. While Origami King tried to be a Paper Mario game, but came short of being a good Paper Mario game. Also, Color Splash was visually more diverse, the music was more memorable (IMO), it was more funny, the attacks are cooler, the puzzles are more interesting, and there are subtle little features that made the game better overall.
Origami King is the biggest disappointment on the Switch, after Color Splash bombing, the LM3 director listening to feedback on Dark Moon and the restart of Prime 4 because it didn't meet standards I really thought Paper Mario would return to it's former Glitz and Glory and nope. Just Color Splash with a new coat of paint
I really don't know what the future of the series is I'm under the high impression this is a Intelligent Systems Dev problem since Tanabe and Risa are so committed too the paper gimmicks and 'changing the battle system every game" like at some point your going to run out of options with those. Even with accessibility this decades game are way less accessible then the originals, while in OK you can literally pay coins to solve puzzles or re-enter rooms to see the solution they still have the ring combat which I don't think most kids or casuals will like compared to the simple combat before. The character restrictions could be a Nintendo thing but other games like LM3 and the Mario and Luigi remakes still kept in most of their modified characters/enemies they normalized some Toads but still had female and a kid Toad unlike PM's "no gender or age" restrictions.
I feel like PM could change with some staff changes since I'm under the impression if anyone else was in charge things wouldn't repeat the same things SS/CS did. Now just like the Metroidvania craze we got because Metroid/Castle got shafted early this decade were going to get a lot of Mario RPG likes soon Bug Fables, Born of Bread, Seahorse Saga etc. History repeats itself
