How to STOP Constipation on a Low Carb Ketogenic Diet

    One complaint I hear from people that fail on a low-carb ketogenic diet is that they experienced constipation, bloating or other stomach issues. There are a few good reasons why constipation can happen on a ketogenic diet and some easy tips to avoid these bowel issues as well.
    Making sure to get enough soluble fiber and water in your diet as you start a low-carb ketogenic diet are two important tips to keep you regular and set up for success with the keto diet.
    Soluble fiber is important for maintaining a healthy gut microbiome (the bacteria that's important not only to our intestinal health but our overall health as well)
    Drinking extra water at the start of a ketogenic diet is also important to help prevent issues with constipation since people tend to diuresis and lose more water as they start into ketosis.

    I'm 5 weeks in on keto-carnivore & having terrible problems with this! I now realize I can eat twice as many low carb veggies when counting the net carbs. And I'm often thirsty so I need to drink more with electrolytes added, especially magnesium citrate.

      Magnesium citrate works good but if you use it a lot your body will come depended on it kind of like laxatives.

    When I was on keto I had the opposite of constipation. I didn’t have a solid one for 5 years after now that I have solid ones… I can’t get them out 😂

    i am backed up every week. Makes me so sick. i eat all the soluble fibers and it still doesnt work

      Have you ever tried a cup of warm prune juice with a slab of butter? Worked for me when nothing else did. There are CZcams videos.

      @@AKMCars This lady is already eating soluble fibers, which have carbs, so might as well try 47 grams of prune juice (one cup) once every week or so and see what happens. Depending on their weight and activity level, people can remain in ketosis with up to 50 grams of carbs per day.
