      +canna bis I'm interested what it is that people don't agree with Tommy Robinson about. He seems very clear with what he believes in. Is it that people don't trust him? Perhaps they think he's really a racist that is putting on a pretense in order to gain more moderate support. Do people not believe that there is a problem with the religion of Islam? It is estimated that up to 300 million of the worlds Islamic population of 1.6 billion believe that apostates should be killed, that Sharia law should be the only law. Do you not believe this to be the case? If you believe these numbers do you not think that this a threat to any free society? Are you comfortable with Sharia Courts in the UK? Are you comfortable with the fact that all people do not have the chance to enjoy the same freedoms within society?
      I don't think Tommy Robinson is a racist. He says quite rightly that Islam is not a race. You cannot be racist against a religion that is practiced by many different races. I think he want exactly what he says he wants: To protect the free society that we have in the west, for him, more specifically the UK. There is clearly a threat to this free society generated by the ideology of Islam.

    • @iconoclasttastic9258

      Ian Johnson Ultimately the chap from the guardian is right. Tommy fails to separate Islam from Extremist Islam. And that both fuels the bigotry of the far right and makes his views difficult to digest for anyone on the left.
      If only he'd add the word 'extremist' when he speaks about 'fighting Islam' - his views would come across as a lot more moderate and palatable.

    The Muslim population in the UK is around 5%. They have a fertility rate of around 3.1; and 1.5 is the rate for native Britons. With this statistic alone the Islamic population will almost double - as a proportion of the whole - with each generation and this ignores the increases resulting from migration... At least 40% of British Muslims admit they would prefer Sharia as opposed to British law - and it's higher among younger Muslims; and since the Quran advocates lying to infidels who knows how high the real percentage is. Considering these two facts and also the fact we live in a democracy is it not obvious that once the number of Muslims reaches a significant size a political party will arise which panders to their popular views; And as their numbers grow so too will the size and influence of such a party until it begins to affect/undermine British laws and customs? At this point, I would argue, that significant tensions will result form the clash of antithetical value systems jostling for position in the political arena. However only one value system can take precedence over one nation, and this, I think, will be an insoluble obstacle to unity and peace within the UK and across Europe. I would invite anyone who disagrees with this argument or conclusion to show me where I go wrong.

      +Oscar Wao At least 40% of British Muslims admit they would prefer Sharia as opposed to British law... these are the poll results of thoses Muslims who are willing to admit their true opinions. Now some mulims may be willing to integrate whilst they are still a significant minority within the country; but do you think that rate of integration will increase or decrease as the proportion of Muslims goes up? At the rate in which it is rising It won't be long until they feel no need to integrate whatsoever... Agree, disagree?

    • @meanmrmustard89
      @meanmrmustard89 Před 8 lety +1

      +Oscar Wao It's not merely some emotional response (fear) that prompts my argument... but rather observation, logic and reasoning. You say you: "struggle to see that 40% doing anything other than dwindling as religious belief will naturally", well, that's all very good and well, excellent, hopefully your shot in the dark, your, gut feeling is correct. However, back in reality, the actual trends of religiosity amongst the Islamic communities across Europe is increasing, not decreasing. And given the rate of Islamic growth it would have to start decreasing very soon and very fast if we are to avoid massive upheaval across Europe. Add to this: this millions strong Islamic invasion that is currently making/raping its way across Europe and: that which you "struggle to see" becomes a little clearer, no? Moreover, this optimistic view you have for the prospects of unity in a civilization already in economic decline, does not bode well with the actual examples we have throughout history. Every major civilization that has ever existed, bar none, has eventually crumbled and often in a brutal and conflict ridden fashion. Given this reality, do you think it intelligent, or risky, to take this already inhomogeneous declining civilization and agitate it even further, by adding to it, more of an incompatible culture that has been at war with it in some form for 1400 years? This is intelligent to you, a worthy gamble? And what do you mean: "let down by our post industrial system"? There are no utopias out there. The modern west is perhaps the most prosperous, pluralistic, freest and fairest society that has ever existed! Thus, pretty much all other societies have existed in a state lower than this: and thus, If part of your hope for unity is to move towards a society where no one is let down, I think you ought to rethink your position.

    Anytime that the media try to shut down one side of the story outright or to focus solely on portraying them in a negative light; it sets off alarm bells for me. I want to hear the truth and not just glorified school yard gossip portrayed as 'news'. Then I will make my own decisions.

    UK politicians must be responsible for the crimes, homelessness as risen to the highest numbers, more people in poverty, stabbings that have increased and education systems has been by cut by the UK government. Now there are more young people and children going into home education. UK politicians have done enough damage.
