Utterly brilliant. Emmylou at her most beautiful singing one of her best ever songs all the more poignant when you know the story behind the song. Thanks for posting.
Anyone who has ever tied to sing into a mic. would realize what a gift that it is to be able to sound like this. Emmylou is a true gift that I'm greatful to have heard.
American Music Shop was the best show on TNN. I recorded so many of them on VHS, which I sadly no longer have. If I remember correctly, Dwight was the host/mail performer this time and besides Emmylou he had a couple of other female performers as his guests. Kelly Willis and... I'm blanking out on who else. I do wish I still had a VCR and all of my old tapes but at least there's CZcams. Thanks for posting this!
I have seen Emmylou many times (in the hundreds) and I have never seen her play a Martin with a D body. I course my favorite is the Gibson black J-Body with the inlaid rose. I think the inlay was done by the famous luthier Danny Ferrington. I am not certain of this but it looks like his work. Oh, yeah---other than the guitar lecture I am crazy about her sound and her look.
yes. it the TNN special (i think) promoting the Ryman. Its a Nash Ramblers-era concert. all acoustic. I used to own it on laser disc, so its possible you could get it.
Gram, oh Gram :( what have you done? Lets sign the petition and get him where he belongs..in the CMHOF .gramparsonspetition with a dot com at the end!!
