  • This is Kelly Coffman's first match of his first telecast. It is also the match where Marshall Holman throws a double gutter (after throwing a gutter ball in his first match against Pete McCordic)
    I apologize for the slight audio/video sync issue. Sony Vegas giving me issues for some reason.

    Earl says Marshall is normally very accurate. He was extremely accurate. He hit the big brown board twice in a row.

    Could you imagine Coffman today with the new purple Hammer... he wouldn't even need to worry about missing spares.

    I like the guy who says cmon Kelly right after Holman goes open-open...and then he goes out and throws a shot beyond brooklyn and leaves the five.

    the shootout was the most amazing bowling event I ever saw on TV

    The Shootout did air that year on December 8th, it was a live telecast. It was after The 1990 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon and a Boxing title bout with I think Michael Carabal

    I like how he hold his hands up to the crowd after the 2nd gutter ..and they are like errrr what the heck

    Man, it's hard to see friends of mine throw the rare double gutter, but a pro on national TV? Yeesh.

    if only Coffman could ever control his shot and make routine spares. He would have had at least 10 titles conservatively. I was an amireior of his game back then.

    Wasn't Chris Barnes the 4th person added to the shootout?

    Wow almost looks like there was a reverse oil pattern on the lane?? holman sliding into the gutter, and kelly flying left.

    That's pretty weird, two gutter balls in a row by a professional bowler.

    2:14 Holman says God dammit. (listen closely)

    Earl (RIP) says Coffman must wear out a ball in 40-50 games. What would he say about Jacob Butturff going through 7 purple Hammers in three games?

    Definitely a reverse block. It almost looks like a prototype of the shark pattern. I'd hate to play that one with an old school 3 piece urethane!

    Earl talking about how Kelly's release is due to his immense strength. Which is the furthest thing from the truth. See current player EJ Tackett who is probably half of the size of Kelly and has more revs.

    • @blkv8fb00
      @blkv8fb00 Před 3 měsíci

      No.. Coffman has more revs and turn on the ball.. Tackett does come close to Coffman power. Yes it was his strength he is under and around the ball and has a semi roll.. Tackett is not even in the same level in terms of release. Pretty sure he is also using urethane with a flat pancake weight block. There is no flare in his ball going down the lane

    Kelly was a TREMENDOUS talent. He just came up in the wrong era. When bowling went "glue-ball", Kelly disappeared. He just couldn't make the adjustment. :(

    How much did the Pba pay Marshall to throw that game?

  • @supergnc
    @supergnc Před 13 lety +3

    Marshall Holman was like the John McEnroe of bowling. He was a sniveling little jerk, but he was money when he was zoned in.

  • @nordattack
    @nordattack Před 5 lety

    Marshall was considered a power player, but Coffman makes Holman look like a chucker up the middle with a house ball.

    It couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy, at the time. Now, very few on the tour are beneficial to the game. That's the way the PBA wants it.
