Love you Reina!! I still wear a mask and I’m in the US. My own health isn’t the greatest I now have anemia on top of other things. So now I have to see a blood doctor and go to a cancer center. And I sometimes a few times a month have to go sit for hours with cancer patients and get infusions done. And for that I still wear one. Also if I don’t feel good I will reschedule for that reason. I don’t want get anyone sick there. That would be terrible! I even had a nurse at my regular primary doctor roll her eyes at me when I said I wanted to keep it on. I thought that was BS her getting that way with me. You think as a nurse you would want safety. Anyways! Great video as always 🤗🫶🏻🫶🏻
That nurse rolled her eyes because there's no actual scientific evidence that wearing a mask in public reduces a chance of infection for others. The moment you put your hands on your mask, it's useless. The moment you breath on it enough for condensation to build up on it and allow germs to pass through the moisture with each exhale, it's useless, and now people are speculating that the masks actually have fibers in them that you're inhaling which overtime will poison your body
Keep telling yourself you're a better person though and strap another diaper on your face, it makes it very easy for the rest of us to know who the ignorant ones are

There's like this, level of realness/bluntness that is typically not around in your videos that is absolutely refreshing. I really liked the whole "this is not cute" as you descended down the stairs lol because mood.
I wouldn't say the viral spread any worse in Japan than other places. It's spiking in most places, yeah it's probably gonna be the flu+season going forward . Most places have just grown fatigued and aren't reporting on hospital admissions past a throw away comment.
Also Japan has a much higher rate of passing the Marshmallow test than most countries. You are just being responsible and that's awesome!

Reina! You made a video about a ramen shop in Shinjuku years ago called Menya Musashi and since then I was lucky enough to live in Tokyo for 3 years. I tried the Shinjuku location and it, too this day, is my favorite meal! I used to go every week!

Glad to see you're vlogging again and I hope you and and your family are well. I live in Maine and usually don't wear a mask unless I'm feeling ill. I still see a lot of people who wear masks every day and I don't really think anything of it. I feel it's a personal choice to wear one or not and I respect their choice to wear one. It's stupid to harass anyone over whether or not they wear a mask no matter what you personal opinion is on the issue. I also lost my mother to lymphoma 17 years ago and both of my grandfathers to cancers.

We found out today that my older brother has cancer again, but we don't know where exactly it's at since they're still running tests. My Great Grandma went to God this year at 99 on the last day of April after a long life and a long fight against Dementia and my Grandma had to take care of her in her late years and I helped out by calming down one of her sun downer moments where she was freaking out. The best thing you can do in order to not lose yourself in all of the emotions so you can truly enjoy your moments with family is by connecting with others and talking with them about it. It really does make a difference.
Between sourcefed, cruchyroll, and your personal channel, you've been making us cry-laugh (practically for free) for a 👏literal 👏decade👏, so when we heard you were having a hard time, we chipped in. Suck it the f up bro 😋
In all seriousness, i hope it just takes the pressure off you and Mike a little, so you can enjoy your time with Airi and your dad without having money stress. Ultimately, it's more for our own benefit than yours anyway, it might help you make more content for us, and I can pretend I'm not a garbage person for a few days 🤣

Egads, I'm so sorry to hear about your relatives that have passed away from cancer. Please, please keep up your health checks (cancer is always terrible, but the one that especially terrifies me is pancreatic cancer just b/c of its difficulty in detection and quick spread) and I hope your father makes a full recovery.
As far as ramen is concerned, there was an awesome ramen place in Shibuya called 亜寿加 that served a fantastic paigu tantanmen (パイグー担々麵）, but it shuttered about 4 years ago. Now, I have heard it re-opened in Shibuya again as Renge no Gotoku and, if it's as good as it was pre-shuttering, I would definitely recommend it, best ramen I've had in Japan, a perfect combo of spicy and delicious fried cutlet (totally subjective I know).
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful trip and best of wishes to you and your family.

Japan is amazing in October! A tip would be to grab a Japan rail pass & setting up a rental WiFi or SIM card for your arrival so you can use your phones relatively freely.
Also, Japan is still a cash country so it’ll be beneficial to get some yen before arriving (or you can do it at the airport)

Unless you're wearing a hospital grade respirator, wearing a KN95 mask isnt going to do much. We took precautions, got the extra boosters, masked up all summer everywhere in Japan before tourism opened up and still managed to catch covid for the first time in Japan of all places. Avoiding people is probably the only way to avoid catching it.
It still does help a little bit tho and anything is better than nothing.
