When I look back on this video it's funny because those were the days when epic paid attention to save the world
Save The World still get's attention, just not as much as before. Take the new Birthday update for example. In BR you get 3 challenges and a back bling. that's all. In STW, you get an entire event with a questline, new Llamas, and a new hero. Plus it brings back all the old events. So really, it hasn't been forgotten thankfully.

I bought into the Early Access. I've been incredibly addicted to this game. The Hero/Survivor/Weapon/Trap management is really overwhelming, though.
after getting to the next area i can can say that the difficulty of the game ramps up to the point where you have to start thinking about how you build and where you place your traps. not gonna lie it pretty hectic the amount of husk that spawn at higher levels and make the game so much more fun and rewarding. can't just build a box anymore and hope evething will work out.
This is mostly what I'm concerned about. Unsure if it changed, but on the actual Fortnite forums, people were saying that the traps become pointless, they just simply don't do enough damage to really be worth it. The only ones via were ones that were basically control impairment (Knockbacks, etc).
So curious what your experience has been with traps being viable still.

Higher rarity and upgraded traps work pretty well at high levels now. The developers keep tweaking values to keep it fun. However, the latter game is designed to be very hard and depend less on traps and more on competent teams, defenders, building design, resource management, communications... Etc
In the beginning you can be lazy and let traps do the work. During beta this is why it got repetitive/boring for most. It didn't outgrow the lazy mode fast enough and felt like a slog for many. Pacing is much better now

Eh. I think traps should be able to do some heavy lifting if you actually think about trap placement, and put actual effort into it.
I think of Orcs Must Die, traps do the majority of the work, but it is hardly easy, and you aren't just sitting around doing nothing.

The game should come with 2 other game modes
Survival and home base
Survival: Survival would be where you're placed on a random map (not randomly generated) and you have to go through waves and each wave is harder then the one before, every wave you can go to get more resources
Home Base: You have a big ass map
And what you have is your home base and from time to time it will be randomly attacked. The idea is the people you rescue go to the home based and defend it. If you are playing while the home based is being attacked a warning sign will appear in the top right and you can decide to go join the defence. (Btw people can die as well in the home base)

This sounds cool! The game has a lot of structure yet stays pliable for people to play as they wish. What a fun concept. My two favorite game genres combined into one!
The Home Base mode you mentioned, sounds a LOT like state of decay. You should give it a try.
I bought it and think it's definitely worth the price only thing this game needs is some sort of survival mode building these forts and they disappear feels worthless bringing in survival mode with countless waves would help and make building forts feel much more better and worth it
laidbackTap an endless survival mode would be just as time consuming as bases that 'disappear'. gathering resources to build a decent base takes me maybe 20 minutes but building a base for endless survival waves would take way more time than actually doing the missions. besides, how would you progress just playing a endless survival game mode?
isaac kadry you can progress by waves. Every wave you get around 5 minutes to repair and build more. And for every wave you get bigger rewards. I hope it happens.

The title of this video needs to be changed.. this was made before Battle Royale came out and so many people are confused saying that Fortnite is already free. This video is about Save the World, which was all that Fortnite was originally. There was no such thing as Battle Royale when this video was made.

Micro transactions aren't really a problem in this game. The fact that it (currently) has pvp means that you're just buying the stuff to benefit yourself and your team with cooler stuff. I myself haven't paid it due to the fact v bucks are fairly easy to get, but the people I play with who have put some money in did get some cool stuff.

STW does get a bit repetitive it the early stage of it, like bein low power level and that, but its not necessarily bad being repetitive, because you are always getting new guns it always feels, new and fun, but once you get to a higher level you start to experience harder and more challenging missions like, launch the rocket and stuff like that, but for u i recommend getting the cheapest edition and if you love it so much, try upgrading it to the deluxe or super deluxe

Yes, that was one of my first comments when I saw the game.
Something he forgot to mention in here that is EXTREMELY important is that there are special events that come frequently where they give you characters and weapons. Unlike battle royale where the characters, pickaxes and gliders come back. The “story mode” DOES NOT bring them back, whats they’re gone that is it.

I played the whole game. I loved it so much. Miss this game.
If you want to play the game before its official launch then you can by paying $40 and in doing so your helping to support the people that are working on it. You see this game has been in development for years and needs to start making a profit (this is how company's stay out of bankruptcy) or it could suffer from things like "underpaid staff" or "Layoffs" or the "project getting scrapped".
As far as micro-transactions go...we will never get away from them, there will always be a need for them as they are the FUEL that keeps the game running.

I remember i was on the fence about buying this game. I remember watching this video when it came out and it persuaded me to buy it. I dont regret that, fortnite is one of my most played games. I came back to this video just to see the difference in how the game looks and plays and it shows how much it has been changed just from this footage alone.
I see a lot of people complaining about things that aren't in the game, but if you stay updated with it, you'll notice that they are adding new features and modes every 2 weeks or so, and the update from this past weekend made it INSANELY more fun! Seriously, go check it out!

Downloaded it last night. Fun game playing with your friends. I know it'll be free to play one day but for $39.99 I don't feel ripped off. Good game so far.
Yeah it's great at the start, I felt the same. They shower you with loot at the start, but it dries up fast, and the grind becomes depressingly apparent and it becomes obvious the only way to progress is to put heaps of real money into it
jorby johnsons not really. im in canny valley and ive maybe spent like $30 on loot llamas. the key is to stick with a few weapons and just level them up. most guns are good enough to get you to end game if u constantly level them up. i have afew legendary guns but find myself using my epic guns more often because they cost less resources to make and if u level them up they are just as stong as lengendary guns. one of my main guns is one i got from my first or second loot llama that i earned from missions.

This is a nice ‘review’ over stw. I’m in mid-canny, so you covered quite a bit of the things in this game. The people should mostly know is that it’s a grind, aka the basis of this game mode.
I love how this video was made before the Battle Royale mode was even added to fortnite
Ive played this each day since it has come out...and the 2 main things I would say about it is...It is much more fun playing with friends on your team then playing solo or with randoms...and 2, take your time through the game and be as efficient as possible with everything from game play, leveling up things, building, and managing your inventory and all sections in your armory and squads.
I love Fortnite, I have no complaints about it. The base building feels great and solid, the combat can get difficult and is almost addictive. The missions add variety to gameplay and can help add to your experience by giving you great weapons, traps, and llamas. And the game becomes even more fun and invigorating when you group up with friends. It doesn't feel too grindy while stile requiring you to do something repeatedly, but it gives you things to do while doing that stuff you repeat. The character classes all have different feels, and the subclasses within the main hero choices all have different abilities and strong suits. While the missions may eventually feel tiring there are enemies that are constantly added to the fights, often introduced when you upgrade your storm shield (home base). The weapon system is a bit like Destiny where the more you upgrade a weapon the better abilities you get on them, but there is also a minecraft-esc durability. But don't worry too heavily about you weapons breaking, you can upgrade your schematics and deal more damage and gain more upgrades. There are multiple types or side quests within the missions like building a radar tower that will guide you to the nearest treasure chest, that always have good loot. My final statement is it is definitely worth the $40 to start off, and if you like it you can upgrade versions without needing to pay the full price, for example I got the $60 version, but I can upgrade to the limited $150 version for $90. I recommend if you have been thinking about trying the game out but aren't sure definitely try it, you will not regret it.

Silver Blade28 the Husks/zombies look really cool, there are tons of variants, the more basic enemies have hoodies that are just their face that have been peeled back/off.

It's a ridiculously imbalanced, barely tested rip-off title, with the only thing worth attention being the free-to-play PVP mode that is marginally more fun than the rest, but clobbers the PVE players over the head with the shocking inconsistency of everything between the PVE and PVP mode.

I like the gameplay and the graphics of the game and would like a change. In save the world is the gameplay similar? I don't have many friends that want to buy stw, so is it still fun to play alone or duos? How does the crafting system work? How long does it take to get to plankerton? Everyone who keeps commenting "it's free though". This breakdown is for the survive the storm (survival mode) of fortnite. This mode will be free in 2018 but you can buy it right now. Battle Royale, which is free right now, is different than this.

What's really stupid is that the store page (On Xbox at least) never gave a single hint of it going F2P, at least not before the game came out. Kind of a kick in the dick for those who were just browsing the store for a cool new game to play only to find out that you literally threw your money into a fire for no reason.

The GigaHebrew early access funds the continuing development. If they just released it free before it was finished, they would basically be giving their game away without means to monetize just yet. They don't want to add a ton of microtransactions before the game is finished. That wouldn't seem fair. Who wants to buy microtransactions on a unfinished game? This way they can get feedback for the game and continue to fund development without finding a way to monetize an unfinished game.

Guys it's not entirely free the battle royale mode is but the base game is not. So please stop saying it's free before my brains explode . Yes I know it will be free once it is completed but until then the campaign is paid early access so the whole game isn't free yet .

I don't think people are understanding what he did the video about... He is describing the EARLY ACCESS to the mode called "Save the World", AKA Campaign. They are charging some money to play the mode EARLY, sort of like a closed beta. Let me quote this from Fortnite's main site (located under FAQ):
Q: When will Fortnite be free-to-play (referring to Campaign)?
A: Some point in 2018
Here is another question (pertaining to "Battle Royale"), sparking that big question in most people's heads on thinking the game is/isn't free to play:
Q: Why did Epic make only Battle Royale free? When will the whole game be free?
A: We still have a lot of features to add before the PvE campaign is complete. We will launch the Save the World PvE campaign for free in 2018.
They are still focused on development for not only this PvE mode in the beta, but they are still working on the PvP mode at the same time.
If you're on the fence, it would be wise to just wait for more patchwork to be done on the game. They never said this game is complete now, did they?

So the game is free battle royal but save the world isn't till the game is out but when cause im re downloading it(i bugged out) and will it be out and you gotta pay for it in mid 2018 or the 20th of january
I have been looking and looking and cannot find an answer: If you have a high level weapon break on you and you have to recraft it, does it start out at level 1 all over again making it necessary to burn XP chits on it or grind(and thus lose durability) to level it back up to usefulness at your current level or does it recraft at the level you had it at when it broke? Because if it's the former, that's some crap.
so if u have a high lvl u gun ur crafting thing for it is high lvl so when u recraft it it will be the same lvl as the crafting thing if that makes sense :D

First off I love this game. Been having a lot of fun and taking my time getting through the first area.
I am getting annoyed that most people don't seem to understand that the game is early access and still a work in progress. Hell there's even a super accessible feedback button in the options menu that can be used to recommend additions and bug fixes.
Honestly Epic Games has done a really good job interacting with the community. Yesterday they had a server problem that shut down the servers for around 5 hours. Their social media people were constantly responding to people on twitter and Reddit which I feel like most companies don't do that anymore.
My personal opinion is that the game is great, still in development, and has a great dev team behind it. However I can see some people's problems with the game being paid early access.

My friend literally got save the world 2 years ago on Halloween, then he just never touched save the world again, and I would like to get a chance to play it instead of just Battle Royale. The mode is fun, but the problem is the nature of the players just toxic all the time like they just say "Your trash" or "You just died? Why are you playing this" and they say that when literally they're the first ones to die, so they're pretty much trying to act like they're better, so I only play Battle Royale alone or with my closest friends, I only play with randoms in Creative but I never talk or accept friend request, and I would actually like to play STW to get away from a lot of those types of players and I did hear there was a lot of changes to the mode
STW players are nothing near that. They're more like, "Hey can I have some guns I'm poor I want guns" *traps you in a box* "give me some stuff I'm a noob can I have ammo"
But if they're in canny and above then half of the time they don't even use their mic to talk

What I meant was that I thought a bunch of people would share the same open huge map and they each would have separate bases they could create with a possibility of pvp kind of like a faction game

Yeah, me too. I remember seeing this game awhile back and thinking of all the endless possibilities, and the grinding to get the best gear and such. Now it just looks like your typical MMO RPG mobile app game.

This game is beautiful. Takes a bit to hang of butnonce you know how to work Fb e mechanics it's super fun -specially when you increase the difficulty. You also get V-bucks that you can use on both STW and BR so that's a plus.
When you download save the world, it won't let you access it until you download the full game. So, if you download the full game will your battle royale purchases and progress restart?
